There’s a lot to look at, but atleast I can comment on the bid/start. When investing 2 inf, 1 art in China, I would suggest to actually place 1-2 fig for Russia in Moscow and/or Stalingrad.
DOW between Russia and Japan is rather inconsequential in OOB, so Russia might as well hit the trigger from the start. That way Yunnan will be secured for China from the bat with 1 inf, 1 tac and 2-3 fig extra. This is a very serious issue for Japan and is key for the strategy of KJF.
Subs for Britain is also a great bid, but I think the above provides even more impact on the game.
2 inf, 1 art, 2 fig equals 30 IPC, so that leaves 12 IPC for 1 sub in either z91, 106 or 111, 1 inf on NG (if allowed) and then another inf perhaps in Sudan or whatever.
I believe doing Taranto is a weaker move actually than doing Gibastion or falling back to z81. It does take out a big part of the italian fleet, but also sacrifices the british fleet. There’ll likely be a better opportunity to sink the italians at a somewhat later stage.
Allowing Axis to control Gibraltar is a serious draw-back for the Allies. It blocks movements from the Atlantic to the Med and allows Italy a secure NO. Also, z91 is a key square for allied fleet maneuvres and not controlling the harbour in Gibraltar is a clear nuiscance. US don’t want to have to build and protect a harbour, and likely also an air-field, in Morocco.
