    • RE: Planes vs. Subs

Realism to a point….It would be tough if every power had different values for their units.

This topic is as dangerous as politics. I think I got into one of these arguments a few pages back for hatin’ on MacArthur.

    • RE: Under 2 hours to play

      @Gargantua:

I’ll take 3 battleships and 3 bombers please.

I guess I meant the purchases are scripted more than you get to choose.

Maybe each capitol gets a certain number of units each turn (eg US gets an air unit 3 ground units and a naval unit). There would be a chart that shows what they are specifically on each turn.

That would make the economics easier.

    • RE: Cruisers, whats the point?

I always liked the idea of giving cruisers the anti-aircraft ability of AA guns, but for a fleet since they had a lot of deck guns. That ability would make it worth it to have a cruiser in the fleet I think.

    • RE: Why can't you scramble over neighbouring ground territory?

I think the rule would be more clear if scrambling only applied to island airbases (including England and japan). If sealion is more difficult then so be it. Sealion seems like it is a little too easy anyways.

Am sure that when the french units come along there will be big sales there as well……

Agreed, I can’t wait to have french units that are not rolling in T34s

    • RE: Painted playing pieces

I’m not sure $1000 would cover it. When I get serious about painting I can paint for 3 hours after work for 3 weeks just to do one faction. Considering there is 11 factions (Counting US and UK as different factions on each map) that is a rough estimate of 495 hours. $750 would be ~$1.66/hour.

Before I started painting I thought $1000 for a set would be fair too, but I was amazed how much time I spent getting as far as I did. I’m not even done yet.

Some people might paint faster or slower depending on their skill or how much detail they are trying to add.

    • RE: Painted playing pieces

Thanks! Glad you like them. I only have the French and Italians and Kriegsmarine left then I have all my pieces done. I have been putting it off because I want to do the italians next and I dont like the OOB pieces so I plan on painting the FMG pieces.

After I get them done I want to make a thread with pictures of all the pieces like you did. Actually your pieces were a pretty big inspiration.

      @FieldMarshalGames:

Ok, here is the HONEST low down.

      I can now say 100%… no going back…  CONFIRMED…

This product IS ready, Will be shipping in the month of October, And it is REALLY REALLY COOL!  I just got the first full set and to see all 150 of them in their glory is something to behold!

Our Freight Company will be picking up the Goods from the factory on Oct 9-10th.  There will be about a 5 day transit time, then we will be shipping like mad.

The Battle is finally over, we are now nearing the Victory we have fought so hard for, for the last 16 months+

Careful, don’t jinx yourself. The ship may capsize from a typhoon and sink:) I think at this point people understand how at this point it is beyond your control and don’t expect any promises. I would hate for another round of “you said this and now this happened” blah blah.

Congratulations on getting past major production hurdles though!

    • RE: Do you want US Marines ?

Maybe some countries could have special powers instead of special units:
Russia: Lend Lease-US can give some of its IPCs to russia (max 10/turn?)
Anzac: When Guadalcanal Canal is in allied hands anzac gets an infantry unit/turn to represent US supplies flowing
      Japan: Already has kamikaze attacks.
Germany: Blitzkrieg-tanks increase mech inf attack value to 2?

Other countries maybe have special units:
US: Marines-Amphimbious attack on 2 even without artillery? or allow BB to fire every round until the Marine unit is killed? or….?
UK: Spitfire-1st round bonus when attacking an air unit
China: Maybe the flying tigers unit already counts?

Italy is a tough one. I have no ideas.

    • RE: Do you want US Marines ?

I never liked the idea of armor or artillery being good at amphibious assaults. I think only marine units should get to attack on a 2 during amphibious assaults and everything else is a 1. Since this would make it very hard to land troops maybe BBs and CAs could fire every round during an amphibious assault to return the balance, but make the amphibious assaults rely more on naval/marine units instead of land units.
