you know, on second thought, I’m not entirely certain of that. Will ask @crockett36

Do you know if Oz’s 42 uses the same turn order as Larry’s 42 ? Or stay the same as 1940 ?

      Would you ask him ?

      Thanks

      Edit
Just read through the thread again.

I don’t think I ever asked him though. I just went with how he listed the players starting units. I’m leaning towards it’s the 1940 turn order.

Yes it does, as long as the first free move is not into a contested or hostile territory.

      Per the rules… Page 16 and 17.

It would be interesting to test out. A set J3 and G3 would make it easier for the allies to make plans.

I’ve never done it myself, but my impression is that the game is severely imbalanced in favor of Japan, so start with a 30-50 IPC bid for the Allies, and revise from there.

@tmartin if the sea battle fails and the Transports weren’t hit during the combat,
at the beginning of the next Round,as the attacker, you can choose to retreat the Transports. They can retreat one SZ from which they came into the battle . There might be 2 or 3 options , depending how many routes were taken to arrive at the SZ.

The units that were going to unload would still be on the Transports , of course .
It would be up to the other side to attack them on their Turn and try and sink them .

@tmartin Thorpe Thump won the tournament at GenCon in 2023 for the Allies.

Keep in mind the gameplay is largely focused on the tournament format, so you’d want to adjust the strategy some for non-tournament play.
