“TM Moses–don’t believe it about German cities! American cities are cleaner (San Francisco anyways). Now, I love Germany with a passion, but facts is facts–you are a lot less likely to be hit by a hot blast of urine-soaked air in the USA than in Germany, depending on where you go (obviously New York vs. Bremerhaven is no contest, but still…)”

Sir Ozone, do not forget Santa Rosa! It is a lovely place! I love the landscape decoration. :D

“I am supposed to get back on friday … but i just received news that Quantas will be on strike that day AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH !!!”

What is a ‘Quantas’ and why would they be on strike?

“There are two germans posting here regularly, and both do not live in germany … that must be irritating”

I like to see people travel. TG needs to get out more for a change!

“Take 83 Million ppl on the size of about Montana (which has 880 thousand ppl) … recycling (a) saves ressources and energy and (b) reduces pollution. So, my question is: Why does anyone not recycle? It is irresponsible not to”

I agree with you wholeheartedly. You would think people would understand that planets like these do not come a dime or a Deutschmark :) a dozen. I hope people can learn before it is too late :(

“Weisswurst is a yucky bavarian sausage, and you get “the real ones” only in southern germany. Otherwise try a local “Oktoberfest”.”

That is too bad. Does Germany have any good vegetarian dishes you have tried?

PS: Thank you for answering my questions!!! Hamburg now and forever! :D

“In fact there is a lot of exemple of infinity. You won’t see a lot of Aleph 0, but a lots of Aleph 1 !”

      Herrn FinsterniS,
My knowledge of science and mathematics is very limited, but I have come to believe that infinity can only exist in one’s mind. I have only witnessed potential infinity, not actual infinity. Can you please correct me if I am wrong?

“but this is a relative noon. A noon that we created. How do we know that it is not a fraction of the temporal distance to the real noon - the one that we will never reach? Just because you call it “noon” doesn’t mean that it really is so.”

I tried to solve this equation myself, but I also ran into some of Sir Crypt’s questions. I do not think you can ever traverse an infinite number of sets.

    • RE: Christian Bible - Truth or Lies?

I do my best to believe in the Bible… :(

      Herrn FinsterniS,
Pascal’s Wager showed that you should believe in God with all your heart, as there is nothing to lose, but everything to gain from that choice if that it was correctly made. I do not think Christians or undecideds should believe in this. Simply choosing God because you might ‘get yours’ in the end is not the answer. It only shows you working selfishly to help obtain a possible eternal reward. One’s hope, inner goodness, and true compassion towards others should be its own reward. My only reasonable response is that Christians or any other theist should stray away from this scare tactic to force people to convert to their religion. Religion should be chosen from faith and love in God… not because it offers a possible payoff.

TG is right. The gateway for Japan to Africa is through India, not South Africa. A factory in South Africa can only help you in you guessed it! Africa. A factory in India, on the other hand, can help with campaigns in both Asia Minor, Africa, and South Eastern Russia. By planning appropriately, you can move any number of forces into Africa, you are not just limited to two units from a South African factory. Taking India is part of the general Japanese strategy, there is no need to go out of your way and send two priceless transports to do it.

    • RE: A question regarding research developments

When I like to technology roll, I try to do it with Great Britain. Many players consider Great Britain to be a ‘lesser’ countries, so it gives me the opportunity to test out new strategies without other players expecting too much out of me. Tech rolling works best when you are using an All Bomber Strategy. By choosing an All Bomber Strategy, you will naturally always be praying for high numbers. I remember, one time, I had successfully scored consecutive sixes in a strategic bomber raid. With such magical numbers, I decided to take a shot at tech rolling. Lucky me! Not only did I score two sixes out of five rolls, but one of them happened to be heavy bombers! :D I already built up a set of bombers, so I was able to make the effects of heavy bombing felt…you couldn’t believe the look on TG’s face! :P

“Incidently there was a very interesting editorial in the NY Times about the killing of civilians in war-struggles - mentioned Nagasaki, Dresden, London, etc - even tho’ the focus was on the Israeli’s latest killings.”

From the American perspective, I feel awful for what the Germans had to endure at Dresden :( In my mind, it never should have happened… there were just so many other targets that could have been hit. Dresden was the center of German culture and art… not some industrialized or militarized city that ‘deserved’ to be bombed. Above all, Dresden was a city of refugees fleeing from the Red Army, of woman and children, and of those recovering from wounds. The medieval city had virtually no anti-air defenses as many thought it to be a place of healing. The decision rested on Winston Churchill with the suggestion from RAF Air Marshall, Arthur Harris, but I do not think we [America] should not have gone along with it, even with them as our Allies. Harris went so far as to lie to both RAF and USAF bombardiers in the mission that the attacks were made on marshaling grounds for troops and war production yards… both turn out to be lies. The horrible event was repeated by the RAF at Wurzburg, a quaint German town of no real strategic or military value… over five thousand civilians would be loss the next day.

“Which was the best move ever made. This really puts us (germans) into responsibility to watch out, that it does not happen again, anywhere at any time! And to do this to whoever repeats it, be it here or whereever!”

To end this on a lighter note, Sir F_alk, you are from Germany? I guess that would explain why you know so much about German history and politics. Can I ask a few questions? Why do Germans like to recycle so much? Is it illegal to chew gum? What is a Weisswurst and where can I get one? Is Hamburg really the most beautiful town in Germany? I appreciate it!

    • RE: Infinity….

“I agree with your answer, but you will have to admit it is a little strange… We are not suppose, in arithmetic, to consider those thing like the order in wich we distribute numbers… x(x - 1) = x^2 - 1x and x + 2x = 3x, whatever the manner you distribute the x + 2x, it would give 3x… Also the “Infinity is not equal to Infinity” thing is a problem that can only be very, very partialy resolve with Cantor theory of different type of infinity… the resolution also make us ask some strage question, like “is there is other infinity between Aleph 0 and Aleph 1 ?” Anyway, i don’t know if infinity really does exist, maybe, like Poincaré, Gauss & Kronecker thinking, infinity does not exist, it is just potential… But it seem it is not the case…
Gauss said infinity was just problem”

Well, I am sure that Cantor believed in actual infinite numbers transfinite numbers. However, I have not seen an example of actual infinity thus far, except if you believe space is continuous. For Aleph 0 and Aleph 1, Cantor believed in the Continuum hypothesis or Generalised Continuum hypothesis, which would seem to imply no. But Cantor’s hypothesis was independent of the other set-theory axioms, so who knows? I might use the Axiom of Choice, though this might lead up to some strange paradoxes. Perhaps, these cardinalities just ‘float around in an annoying way.’ Maybe Monsieur FinsterniS is right on Gauss, ‘just keep infinity out of mathamatics!’ :D

PS: I find it amusing, yet appalling, to see learned mathematicians fight among each other, especially the terrible war waged between Georg Cantor and Leopold Kronecker.

I think that the Atlantic sub should be used to help disable the UK Battleship in The Straits of Gibraltar.

TG, you should learn to keep a clear mind, and never lose your cool! When you start dreading every battle’s outcome… that is when your dice seal your fate, not mine. You have to stop being so pessimistic and cheer up… it is just a game! :D Lighten up :P Mind over matter, you know?

    • RE: International Crimminal Court

“I’m back! Did anyone miss me?”

      I DID!!! :D

"About the crimminal court, it would be useless, as it would have no juridistiction outside of Europe and possibly Japan and the U.S.

Meanwhile, human rights abuses are rampant in much of Asia, South West Asia and Africa."

For the Criminal Court to work, every country must have equal representation and equal say. The United Nation is one example of an organization that suffers too much from being run too much by American and European interest. The Criminal Court should let the smaller countries’ voice be heard, to let them know that they also make a difference.

    • RE: A few questions:

To answer question number two for you, Sir lostsock.
First strike for submarines is the term used when a submarine scores a hit on the opposing fleet. The opponent’s ship [of his or her choosing] is immediately sunk without the opportunity of firing back. In the case of the destroyer, it does not get to shoot first, but luckily, it is not affect by the enemy sub’s first strike attack. The destroyer will still be lost, but at least it gets to fire back. I hope my answer was not too confusing :)

    • RE: Axis cannot lose

The Jedi Charles, you should see my ‘Build All Bombers’ strategy for the Allies… TG Moses has not been found the ‘magic bullet’ to overcome it :)

1942 Samurai, it is very hard to maintain a Luftwaffe with Germany’s limited resources. I suggest no further attacks on the Allied fleets after turn one. Trying to sink all Allied ships, given significant protection [Aircraft Carrier], will result in an eventual loss for Germany. This is very similar to the Allies resorting to a ‘Build All Bomber’ strategy to force the Germans into a costly war of attrition. Most likely, with the increasing burdens place on manufacturing new planes, Russia will take advantage of Germany’s lack of reserves on the Russo-German Front and make a breakthrough. I try to think of Germany’s fighters as more of a threat to the Allies, forcing them to spend money on naval defenses, rather than actively chasing down ships with high losses.

Where does the ‘Little Roman Empire’ fit in? I thought Ewoks were a helping hand in overthrowing the Galatic Empire…

PS: How are the Ewoks fascist? Is their tribe based on a hierarchy? I think there was the ‘head hancho’, elder Ewok who wore a ceremonial headpiece with lots of feathers and a spiritual walk stick :) lol

“If Japan had the ability to reach our borders they would have certainly bombed our civilians, actually they did! they sent thousands of ballon bombs over the pacific to try to hit American civilians”

Sir KPwatkin, we must not forget that Japan often resorted to civilian bombing of the countries of China, the Philippines, Korea, and as far reaching as Australia during World War Two. Those may not have been American lives lost, but it was civilian lives lost all the same

Thank you for insight, Sir KPwatkin, on moving the AA gun from Karelia and letting the Germans take the territory. The problem I see is that the Germans can build an AA gun there the very next turn, allowing me only one turn of unrestricted strategic bombing. Do not worry, when I play TG, he hardly shoots down one of my bombers :)
