RE: Defeating ANZAC with 1 bomber and 3 subsposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
A bomber will not be able to perform operations from the solomons, not enough spaces even with an airbase stationed there.

My thoughts exactly, the T-34 was used throughout the world well into the late 80’s!

RE: So how do the Allies win again?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
China’s ability to place new units on newly taken territory makes it an extremely annoying adversary. It reminds me of a cockroach. One stamp of the foot is not going to kill it. In my few games as Japan I made sure I killed as many Chinese as possible even if it meant sacrificing a few air units unassisted by land units. I used my two trannies and loaded up the mech and tank to Kwangshu or which ever territory next to Yunnan along with extra inf and the tranny from the carolines with inf from there and Peilieu. The tank and mech really helped in out flanking the chinese and rounding them up in their north western territories.

T-34, without a doubt.

RE: Rules Q&Aposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Krieg I have question in terms of naval base repair. When a naval base receives more then 3 damage it is inoperative. So if you repair your NB while you have ships stationed there with damage, do they become repaired simultaneously or does the Naval base have to be operative at the beginning of the turn to repair ships?
Also in terms of airbases, can you strategic bomb an island airbase at the strategic bombing stage, hence disable the airbase, then conduct combat in the adjacent seaszone preventing fighters to scramble?

RE: Reactions on the FAQposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I am not sure I will adhere to the ANZAC changes in my own personal gameplay. I felt the the NZ IC justified New Zealand’s contribution to the war. And if you are going to make New South Wales the only point of production for ANZAC, shouldn’t it receive a port like all of the other capitols? Also, If India has a major facility, I think Australia should have a major facility as well, their contribution in the Pacific theater was pretty substantial, substanital enough to warrant a major IC in IMO.

RE: Why wait as Japan?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
This all hinges on whether you take Honolulu J1. If you don’t, you cannot repair your caps J2. I was in this situation my second game. I had to lumber my capital ships back to my own ports which took me two turns of evasive maneuvers. It really sets you back, you definately need all three transports, even then its still not a lock.

Yes, as long as it is a Chinese territory that has been recaptured.

RE: J1 Openingsposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Relatively similar to my inital opening. I bought a carrier, transport, and one inf my first purchase, and bought carriers and trannies throughout from there. At turn 4 I had 7 fully loaded carriers and 5 transports. Japan had a beastly Navy, and I utilized my subs and DD’s for convoy capture to draw UK and Anzac away from taking Islands. I felt I had sufficient ground forces from the start and didn’t build to many land units. I delcared war on J2 by the way. By the time US got rolling my Navy was too overwhelming to contend with. Uk had some breathing room and started to press towards FIC and China a little. But I placed a Minor IC in FIC which gave me just enough to repel them along with my Trannies shuttling units down from Japan. I am amazed at the size of the Japanese airforce in the beginning, even with all of those loaded carriers I still had air superiority on the main contin

My thoughts exactly. I feel if you tip toe with Japan you have to make up too much ground with the commonwealth’s transports sacrificing themselves on the Dutch Isles, this will give you problems. My first few turns with Japan I loaded up on Carriers since a large scale war with the US is inevitable. You already have the airpower, might as well exploit it all across the Pacific. Also, since the game came with 8 Jap carriers it seemed the game was designed to lean that way.

My battle board lists Carriers with an attack of 1.

Got mine today. We really need more tac bombers for Japan. I can see why for the other major allied powers such as GB and US to have a limited number since their pieces will be combined with the Euro Ed., but Japan needs more TacBombr’s.
