    • RE: Why was Norway never liberated?

I believe a French and British Expeditionary force was sent in April 1940 I believe, could be wrong going off of the top of my head.  Any ways there about 4-5 different landing on the mid to northern coasts, but in all failed.  Norway is extremely difficult to conduct amphib operations due to all of the fijords that run up the western side of the country.

    • RE: G1 Barbarossa

This past game I did this and worked out well in out flanking the Russians.  I kept the sealion threat open with 3 transports loaded carrier, BB, C, and subs stationed off of Denmark.  I positioned the Finland army and extra units shucked there as well.  G3 I out flanked the russians by landing 2 trannies of units in Nementia and a trany full of units in archangel.  Closed in to karelia and vyborg with the Finland units.  I took the frontier spaces (BS, BESS, and EP) and concentrated my forces in EP.  I had a MF in Romania which added the pressure.  This flanking manuever was successful in spreading out the Russian forces and I was able to take Moscow on G6.  I think G3 is the earliest to you can start a barbarossa.

With the German naval station in Western Germany you can bypass 110 and do a landing in seazone 109.

    • RE: Lack of board flatness

I go a bit extreme with this.  I go to my local hardware store and usually have them cut me a piece of glass measured to size and place it over the map. You can get this done at Menards or Lowes.

    • RE: Territory control

I believe only land units, planes cannot because they cannot land in a newly conquered territory.

    • RE: Most decisive battle of the Second World War

It is hard to say, for me,  which individual battle or offensive was ultimately decisive.  MY feeling has always been that the sieged cities of Russia were the will killing and decisive events of the war i.e. (Leningrad, Sevastopol, and Moscow to an extent.)  Stalingrad was later, but the German failures to swiftly take these cities were draining operations that sapped the strength of the German war machine.  These siege wars provided time for the US and British army to go through a series of trial and errors when they initially entered the war in Africa and Italy to eventually muster the right personnel and experience for landings in France.  I think even if somehow the landings in France failed, Russia would have eventually beaten back the stalled German army and the western allies would have eventually reloaded for another landing.  Japan doomed themselves from the start of Pearl.

    • RE: Early Release

I already posted on another thread that my game store usually gives me the game before the release as soon as they get it.  Most game stores bend the rules a bit in order to get money in their pocket asap.

Glueing them seems unnecessary, I would just place two in a space for a major, side by side.

    • RE: How much life do you have now? And how has it gotten better?

Great thread, I have been on hiatus on this site being that the summer is the busiest time of the year for me at my work.  I graduated from the U of Iowa in '07 (BS in PolySci and BA in History).  I was a student manager for the football team while in school and will be marrying my college sweetheart who I met through football next year in the fall.  My soon to be wife was one of the dance team girls for the Hawkeyes and we have been together for 4 years.  We deeply miss being involved with the program buts that the part of growing pains, you can’t be in college forever.  I pursued my fiance to Chicago when she moved here in 2008.  We currently live off of the lake and I work as a Dept. Manager at East Bank Club downtown, one of the premier health and fitness facilities in the country.
Before I met my soon to be wife I had plans to enter into the military.  When we moved here I qualified for Air Force SF in Combat Control.  I also had purchased a wedding ring.  When push came to shove I couldn’t bring myself to leave her and decided to stay when I was offered a salary at my currrent work. I do think back sometimes how things would be if I went down that road, but to tell you the truth I don’t regret my decision.  I love being with my family and I am not sure how would have coped being away from everyone.
I have been playing AA since I was in middle school.  I had MB edition Axis and Allies and I still play it to this day.  I have been active on this site for about 4 years, but I didn’t join as a member till 2008 when rumblings of AA50 were spreading.  I spend most of my time looking over the WW2 history posts.  I love studying WW2, and I am continually studying the subject day in and day out.  I have rich family history in the military especially WW2.  My grandfather on my mother’s side served with Patton at El Guettar through Sicily, and my grandfather on my father’s side served in the Navy in the Pacific theater.

    • RE: Global Team game when it comes out!

I have alwasy gotten my games a day or two early from my local gaming shop.  Vendors usually receive merchandise a day or two before release in order to have it on the shelves first thing the morning of the launch date.  When pac and 50 came out I received them on the day previous.

    • RE: Favorite band

Alice in Chains have always been my all-time fav, pretty big fan.  Grew up in the middle of the Grunge age so my other favs are Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, 311, and Faith No More.  I am also a sucker for late 80’s early 90’s hair bands.

Yes it is on PC.  I run mine on my custom comp.  The single player environments are breathtaking and lush.  I like this alot more the CodMW2 because of the multiplayer is more extensive and for me takes more skill to play.  There is literally nowhere to hide  because almost any obstacle or coverpoint can be simply wiped away or destroyed to reveal your position.  This game take a lot more team work and strategy in my opinion.

    • Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Did anybody get this game?  I got it and I was very pleasantly surprised.  I feel that is just as good if not better then COD mW2.  I love how virtually the entire spectrum of the game is interactive, you can blow up anything, and even take down mutli-story buildings.
