RE: 1940 reference cardsposted in Customizations
The Mediafire links are in the message above, but here they are again.
I think I didn’t express myself clearly. I was hoping you could share your original design file with seperate layers so I will be able to create translations into Dutch and create some other reference cards in the same style.

Really nice work! Would you be so kind to share to design files?

RE: Size of pieces and tokens?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
The only 2 measurement I know by heart are:
-
Diameter control markers: 3/4 inch or 19 mm
-
Diameter chips: 7/8 inch or 22.2 mm

RE: North America movementposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
The answer is:
-
No, CUS is not connected to Ontario
-
Yes, CUS is connected to A/S/M
The lake does block movement, but according to the FAQ CUS and A/S/M are adjacent. They actually updates the map in the 2nd edition print run in which they added a border between CUS and A/S/M. See for your self here

RE: Germany playbook: overall strategy guideposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
France:
- 7 infantry (holland & western germany)
- 3 artillery (holland & western germany)
- 1 mech (western germany)
- 1 tactical (poland)
- 5 tank (holland & greater southern germany)
Why risking to lose a tactical to the AA in France? I personally wouldn’t take that risk and it’s not needed if you bring in everything you can over land. (I think there are more mechs to bring in right?)

RE: Axis Victories (what's the "magic" trick?)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
@Quirky:
If Japan offers most of its fighters on Calcutta, the US will have a field day since the easiest way for Japan to compete with the US in the fleet war is by dumping a carrier in the water and putting landbased planes on it. So every downed plane works in favour of the US.
Off course every destroyed unit in any way helps the allies, but you can definitely lose half your planes to still have a strong force against US. Out of your 21 starting planes you might end up with 10 planes meaning you can still operate 5 loaded carriers. The more the better as you ideally want to position a few planes against China.

Thanks for pointing this out. Found it!

Well done! It looks like you reused some original artwork as the background of these ref. cards. Did you extract this from one of the manuals?

@Imperious:
The file for the full map, not these pictures
I second that. I’ve this board on my todo list for creating a nice scan of it, but it seems you’ve already beaten me to it. Nice!

RE: Tjoek's A&A Anniversary OOB Map file (Updated March 23rd)posted in Customizations
Thanks guys! It has been busy lately, but I’ve managed to revisit nearly all sea zones to clean up some more smaller issues.
After that I will do all territories and finalize the map. Hopefully somewhere in November. -

Thanks for sharing IL! The scale is insane. The infantery is on a poker chip as base :-o

The last corner with the US fighters was a hell of a lot of work, but it’s done. See for yourself the before and after of the Anniversary board (click for larger images):
Just some more minor cleanups to do before I will release this final file to the community, but it’s hard to find the time at the moment.

RE: Free French Blue Fighter Aircraftposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Just a thought: what if you land the french fighter on a US carrier in the Pacific? It will take two turns to get there, but it might work out nicely instead of using an ANZAC fighter to kill lonely Japanese transports.
Move US carrier forward and in the French turn fly of to kill. -

And if anyone is wondering why the colors of my last pictures are a bit dull: I’m fixing the artwork on the original scans before doing the color corrections. So the final map files will be as vibrant as the current one that’s up for download.

With your comments I’ve made up my mind as I’m going for a clean map. Just like my Global 1940 map
After some hours of work over the weekend I’ve managed to get rid of the AA logo and artwork on the center board. And re centered the sea zone numbers fo 29, 31 and 32.

Now moving on to the US fighters on the right most board.
