Nice work @ari236

Where are the two dots? The two little islands left of Borneo are on the map anyways and it’s hard to see if they are darker because of a pen or because of the quality of the picture.
Anyhow: whatever you try to clean it, please try it on the back of the board first. A bit of the artwork of the map is folded over the edge of the board towards the back of it. Better to ruin that bit that the actual top of the board.
@fasthard thanks for sharing! Interesting idea to use 2 euro cent coins.
@Ozymandiac Thanks for sharing with us! Did you already play a game on the map?
@dracolich
It depends on which map file you open. The first two are the cleaned up versions with Honolulu in the correct location.
The third and fourth file are closer to the original bord with no major corrections like removed artwork, Honolulu, removed Atlantis islands etc.
If you fancy a combination of both map versions feel free to copy paste the things you like from one map on top of the other.
I will update the first post in the coming days to make the difference between the files more explicit.
@Young-Grasshopper
I recently posted a few new and updated version of the AE50 map files. Could you please update the link in this thread? It might be a good idea to just link to my thread so you’re always pointing to the most recent version. Prevents the version control hell ;-)
Thanks for your efforts to make these files more visible and easier to find for the wider community
Hi All,
Somehow I was drawn towards this map once more and included a few more cleanups and enhancements. See first post for all details and new maps.
Updates in short:
I hope you like it!

Nice find djensen! I do have a background in EE and programming microcontrollers and such. If only I had enough time available…
@Black_Elk
Dude! At first I thought you heavily added the map before I noticed it is just a horizontal flip…
Hi Jonas,
Have a look at this thread.
These are my own setup charts. Artwork in line with OOB front, but the way the setup is represented is different. It uses numbers in a table layout instead of the text heavy format of the OOB fronts.
I hope it helps!
Apart from the change that Panther mentioned there are a few more border corrections:
Not it doesn’t affect game play at all as in the rules and especially the FAQ the mentioned territories have always been adjacent and SZ 10 never connected to SZ 64. It’s mainly a cosmetic upgrade, but I just mention it here in case you weren’t aware these countries were adjacent.

Is this in MS Excel? If so, can you share the file?
Sorry it’s not in Excel.

"Sorry IL, I know you’re a fan of the more realistic maps "
Well you only need to fix Norway, France, England, Iceland and Greenland. The rest will improve by relation. Like me standing next to an ugly women, makes her more attractive.
Nice try, even though I agree it’s still not worth the work from my point of view.
@Imperious-Leader said in Tjoek's A&A Anniversary OOB Map file (Updated February 7th):
@Tjoek Well i hate to mention this, but you might want to redraw Norway and most of Europe and make a “Realistic Coastline” version and center in on Europe, and add Azores, Maldives, and a few others ( Sicily too). I hate to ask this but can you work on that?
Sorry IL, I know you’re a fan of the more realistic maps but it would be far to much work for something I won’t use myself.
@Imperious-Leader said in Tjoek's A&A Anniversary OOB Map file (Updated February 7th):
Also can we get a clean version of the map, meaning removed images or pictures because i want to add /replace the pictures with better ones and redo the charts and add some meaningful game play info.
What exactly do you mean? The files I supplied are already with AND without the original pictures for planes, logo’s and mobilisation zone. Just choose the file you like. I cannot think of other pictures to remove…
I’ve updated all 4 map files in the original post to now also include the fixes for Honolulu and Iwo Jima.
Please note that didn’t go with the realistic Iwo Jima (as almost non of the islands have realistic borders), but I only flipped it upside down and corrected the light shading for the new orientation.
@vodot: thanks for your help!
@IWillNeverGrowUp said in Metal Flight Stands - Different height? Is there an interest?:
I would definitely say yes! If it wasn’t for the fact I already have flight stands (3 heights for the 3 different planes) I would certainly be getting some.
@vodot thanks! Your print quality is really astonishing. I wish I had a printer with this quality at work. Let alone the high quality 3D prints! Well done
@LevHunter and @8thGuards with some help of @Quirky-Turtle I’ve also corrected a few minor 1942 setups errors. I’ve update the first post of this thread with a new file that now also includes charts for the original territory names of Russia and China in case you are not using my custom map.
Interesting scenario. I agree with @The-Pripet-Martian
@8thGuards said in Complicated battle (scramble, kamikaze, surprise strike, amphibious assault):
Japan has 2 SS in the sea zone, decides to use its kamikazes against the ANZAC surface fleet and scrambles the FTR and TAC that are on the Philippines to force a sea combat (otherwise it would have been an amphibious assault without sea combat).
One small correction though:
You don’t need the FTR to scramble to be able to fire Kamikaze strikes on an amphibious assault. The rules clearly state you can simply do so without the need of trigger a ‘normal’ sea combat first.
The Japanese player has the ability to make
a special defensive strike against Allied
surface warships. Japan is allowed to make
6 kamikaze strikes during the game. These
strikes can be made only in sea zones that
contain the Kamikaze symbol: those surrounding Japan,
Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Formosa, Marianas, and Philippines.
If an Allied player attacks Japanese units in or declares an
amphibious assault from one of these sea zones, the Japanese
player can announce at the beginning of this phase that he or
she intends to launch one or more kamikaze strikes in that sea
zone. They are resolved before any combat begins.
And
A kamikaze strike prevents offshore
bombardment supporting an amphibious assault in that
sea zone, whether or not the strike is successful
(this is at the top of page 16 of the Pacific 1940 rule book)

I mean, the pictures are not going to look as nice as the print, and I don’t have a surface yet or the plexiglass cut to size to cover it. I’ll try to get something out in the next few days, though.
No hurry, I am just curious how you material looks
