Just for fun I made these maps in Inkarnate/Gimp. I really like how they turned out.

@The-Captain
I used 3mm thumb nuts drilled out to fit 3mm acrylic rods. I used a number of 3d printed jigs for cutting the rods, assembly of the stands and gluing the magnets. If I remember later I’ll attached some pictures of the jigs/stands
Hey everyone,
I finished customizing my copy of AA50 and wanted to share what I’ve done.

Oil. I modeled and printed the oil barrels and derricks myself and have been working on some house rules to include them in the game to add some strategy and more money to the board.
Roundels, I 3d printed the chips and applied the stickers. The image file is on this site somewhere and I will comment with the link, I did have to modify and convert the file a bit to make it workable but it includes the fuel and breakthrough images as well. These are all double sided and stand out much nicer on the map
!

That’s all the main things I did! Please let me know if you guys have any questions about anything.
@vodot I did look through the thread and I’ve come up with a rule set unlike anything there I believe. I’m still play testing and might change them farther for balance.
Axis & Allies Optional Rules - AA50.pdf
@Pvt_Griff Thank you! Let me see when your done! Now just cointemplating buying a global game and getting BBR or something going. Daunting task for sure.
@vodot I have printed and assembled a bunch of your overlays on my map! They look great and I’m excited to play test them. Would you be able to make an overlay for a carved out Scotland territory on the Uk? The fix for Hokkaido is awesome so the US can actually land stuff there. Would be cool to see the same for the UK to give a sealion a possibility in this game.
I made these by printing on Matte Vynil sticker paper and applying it to a 3d printed shape .5mm thick so they should be durable. I blue tacked them straight to the board.

@vodot No rush at all! I’m sure by then I’ll have cooked up some other hair brained scheme to waste my time on this game :D I should spend my time just playing instead! Anyway ill include some thoughts about a game I’m playing with a friend here after the game is over to see how the overlays affect play. I also did come up with a setup modification rule set for the set of overlays I applied which I will send to this thread soon.
@vodot So far in our testing game its been really great with the overlays. The Hokkaido landing zone is a great threat for Japan as they actually need to keep navy near japan instead of running away south. The Island splits on Borneo and East indies make the play there much more dynamic as the uk has more opportunities to recapture/harass Japan. Chinas extra territories work well and my updated rules to add artillery have balanced them out well I think. I would be super stoked if someone else would play with the ruleset as I find it much more fun than the OOB game. The extra money and strategy from the oil rules is super fun.
Hey axis and allies family. I wanted to share a new custom battle deck I made inspired by sired bloods spoils of war deck. I made these cards in inkarnate and gimp. They are made to modify the game randomly so each game has a little flair to it. Some of the cards are made to mesh my with custom house rules which include oil and air transports. Let me know what you think!
I do apologize for the AI art.

@vodot I haven’t play tested anything yet. Just a fun weekend project. I should be able to adjust the cards super easy through the program I used to make them. I will attach xcf files this afternoon. Thanks!
@chrisbump86 I have attached a PDF of the outlines here. I scanned the battleboard on my printer and selected them in gimp which was super easy.
@FranceNeedsMorePower thank you!! Glad you like them! you can have a print shop make it for you. I had a map printed on .040 styrene that turned out sweet from a company called smartpress. 150cm by 78cm only
Cost 75 bucks. I can send you the full file if you’d like

@CentralCommando I’ll see how it looks! I’m trying to match the Renagade dice colors and the tan is defintaly the odd one out.
@CentralCommando Thank you! I actaully have a new version that im uploading now.
@CentralCommando
The NO’s need to be achived just by the overall axis or allies team not the idividualy nation. If Italy captures India then Japan still gets the NO
@vodot Fixed, thank you! I used the web app inkarnate which is a D&D map maker tool which is incredibly useful for that purpose and others. I can import “stamps” so I imported the aa50 map to trace the landmasses and borders. The tool has lots of built in map making features so I didn’t have to do much for that just selecting settings/painting. I exported the finished map and added the text and roundels in gimp. Inkarnate is sweet for map making and I used it to make the Battle Deck cards as well.
Just realized I totally forgot capitals LOL.
@vodot I made a fully custom map using the changes I used from this thread. I made it using Inkarnate/Gimp.
UPDATE 11/22/25 added VC and some shadows to make text more readable.

Posting my custom battle board! I have it printed and applied to a peice of plastic but I have just attached the image here.
