      Dang, now you got super lucky - your Italian elite-DD killed both of my fighters and lives to tell the tale. Calculator says there’s a three percent chance of that. Not only that I lost two fighters, also retaking Egypt just got a whole lot more difficult (if not impossible).

      Well, again - you had a lot of risky battles, and the rest of them went quite ok for you. And you could have retreated.

      I’m assuming that you intercept in Germany (1 ftr vs 1 bmb).

      Arg, and since my brain works best under the shower, I just realized another thing - if its not too late to change that, my UK DD would not go from sz41 to sz39, but to sz43 instead.

      The scrambling order and OOL for the Indian fleet would remain unaffected.

      …and, in case you are wondering, OOL would be: BB(1), DD, Crs, BB(2), Tac, Ftr, Ftr

      If you should SBR India, I scramble only if all you send is 1 Bmb.

      If you attack Hawaii in force (i.e. with fleet and transports), I don’t scramble. If you send only a DD and airforce (to a max attack value if 19), I scramble.

      If you should be so nuts as to attack Queensland, I don’t scramble.

      So, that should be all possible scrambling calls… Looking forward to see your turn when I come home this evening!

      Well, in practice not, since Russia would simply declare war on Japan no matter what. Unless we change the neutrality rule even more so that it would invalidate the Mongolia treaty. Maybe something we should consider for the next game.

      On the SBR: Still haven’t found it, but I’m reading the discussion where they debate the suggestion that 1 point of SBR damage should make any infrastructure inoperative. I think for factories that’s too harsh, but for air- and naval bases it makes kind of sense. Otherwise there is never an incentive to repair them fully, which is kind of strange. And since they can take only 6 damage max, it really makes very little sense to bomb them in the first place. What’s your take on this?

      Hm, still looking for an answer to the airbase question on harrisgamedesign.

      However, I noted two interesting bits that we (I think) did both wrong, regarding the political status of Russia.

      a) Attacking Korea and/or declaring war on Japan does not invalidate the Mongolian defense treaty (at least not according to the Alpha+3 rules)
      b) While Russia is not at war with Japan, it is still considered neutral on the pacific side of the map. That means, in particular, that US units cannot move into Russian territories (although I have to say that this doesn’t make massively sense, since it appears that there is no penalty for Russia to declare war on Japan).
