    • RE: Are you a top player ?

I tried to find out from Hasbro/Avalon hill if they had plans to rerelease but I just kept going in circles when trying found out whom to ask. I was pointed to a site called Wizards.com as someone who controls the software but that lead me right back to Hasbro???

    • Any new additions to website?

I was wondering if the other areas on this site will ever be activated, such as downloads and rules? There seem to be many requests for rules, software patches, and images of maps.

    • RE: SBR's can destroy ICs

I prefer Moscow for allied bombers since they can still hit Germany and threaten the Medd. as well as support Asian activities.

Your right about it being complicated, it kind of ruins the joy of the simplicity of the battle. I’m just over-thinking out load.

Ummm…interesting thought of putting A&A AI against Madden2002??? I’m sure even with an offensive line of armor going up against a Greenbay defense, A&A would still wouldn’t do anything and purchase an transport and place it in the Gatorade bucket on the sideline! :D :D

    • RE: SBR's can destroy ICs

What about this….Throw out the rule of only one IC in a territory and unlimited piece placement in starting ICs. The IPC value of a territory also represents the number of factories that can be built there. Each factory can produce only 3 units. At the start of the game each player has max ICs in in home territories. So Germany has 10 ICs with the capability of 30 units, Southern Europe has 6 ICs with the capability of 18 units, karelia has 3 factories with limit of 9 units…etc. Now apply in the special SBR rule. At first if Germany loose a factory no big deal, but if the trend continues his production capabilities are now in jepordy. This could also be interesting if UK spend the 30 to place two factories in Austrailia with the capability of 6 units a turn. This can make Austrailia a major objective for Japan to protect its underbelly as well as for USA to keep it out of Japan’s hands???

    • SBR's can destroy ICs

Since SBR’s have shown not to be all that productive in most cases what about adding the possiblity of destroying the IC in the territory. I was thinking if an SBR roll a six on damage, the attacker can roll the die again. If another six is rolled the IC is destroyed, otherwise the defender just loses the six points form the first role. :-? :-?

    • RE: No attack between Russia and Japan

I was also contemplating (while not doing the work I am supposed to be doing :-? ) with a rule like this, one may want to raise the values of the pacific island? Making them essential objectives for the US to keep the Axis from economic victory. My objective was to find some way to make the US be much more active in the Pacific.

    • RE: German navy T1

The only use I have ever seen was using the tranny as fodder. It has often been a deciding peice for Germany keeping a fighter when attacking the north sea on T1. And if you don’t use it that way it just becomes an easy target for the British fighters. Although you bring up a good idea for a variant. Since the Tribitz did cause major concern for the allies and forced them to divert resources to deal with it. I may try putting a battleship in the Baltic sea sometime.

    • No attack between Russia and Japan

Since Russia did not declare war on Japan untill 1945, after the first atomic bomb, what about reflecting some of this in A&A? I was thinking of not allowing Russia and Japan to attack each other for some number of rounds. I also wouldn’t allow Russia to liberate territories taken by Japan. Although I see it favoring the Allies it could bring some unexpected twists with the US having to spend more on home defence. What are your thoughts?

    • What looks different between 1st and 2nd edition?

Other than the rules of the game, I was wondering if anything looked different between the 1st edition game and the 2nd. Is the gameboard, pieces, and box art the same?

    • RE: Game bug - AA gun placement

Actually that is not a bug that is what the rules say. :o If you have purchesed an AA and you already have AA at each of your IC’s you lose the gun. :( Sounds kind of stupid to me, you should be allowed to place multiple AA as long as only one in that territory is allowed to fire at enemy aircraft per turn. But it is there none the less. The way around it would be to move an existing AA during the non-combat move phase. They can be moved one space or loaded on to transport, much like infantry. Then you would be able to place your purchased AA.

    • RE: New player, needs rules help

Yes it does… The second edition rules under the combat section (top of page 19) says…Note:Any defending units hit by the battleships’ one shot support attack can counterattack. However I like the idea of “softening the beach head” and eliminating the defender with no counterattack. But this varient must be stated at the begining of the game otherwise the rules stands.

    • RE: The Russians

I like playing russia with a little character twist. I would not always support my allies in taking a territory unless russia would get the IPC. Even letting germany take a territory back with a chance of Russia taking it next turn. Although it is a team game I want to be the big winner. However as the U.S. and Britain I play supportive

I did find your answer in the instruction book under Section 5 Combat “Do ALL combat movement BEFORE resolving any combat.”
