    • RE: 👋 Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Current)

      Hey guys, I really just got into A&A over covid but I really wanted to play it beforehand, just never got a chance. I fell in love with classic and now I’ve bought G40 and D day. I will also get triple A soon. It was such a good feeling to find this website because it answered so many questions I had about rules and opened up so many more possibilities for my gaming.

      @windowwasher I’m getting my PC fixed but then I’ll have to download Triple A, thanks again for the advice. I just tested out bids by myself with allies at +30 on the Europe map. The difference was huge, they put a fighter in Scotland and a destroyer in the 110 fleet I believe-with the French cruiser. They also put a sub in the med for Taranto and a tank for Tobruk. The Axis definitely is limited in what they can do the first turn and they don’t have near total domination of the sea right away.

      @windowwasher Cool thanks for the ideas! What exactly is the reasoning of the subs in the UK fleet around London? Also, does your bid change if you just played a theater game?

    • Bids

      I’m starting to get into bids as I have figured out Axis strategies, Sea Lion, Barbarossa, & Calcutta Crush are my best. But I wanted to know, what the common uses are for allied bids? Any amount of money is fine if you use it and it balances the game out pretty well. Thanks!

    • RE: Advice on how to get this game?

      @captainwalker sorry I didn’t see your response, but there never seems to be more than 3 of them for sale and there at least 150 plus shipping or auctioning at ridiculous prices

      Very true and a good strategy

      I totally agree. And it’s also crucial that you understand how, when, and where to counterattack. Being the Russian player you don’t get many shots so you need to hit hard and ensure a victory, or a massive blow to the German war machine. You can’t afford to lose unit after unit from counterattacks with little odds of success. To do this more effectively you should try and predict where the German player will go-of course I don’t mean move all your troops to one area, but just a couple troops can greatly change the odds of a counterattack.

    • Advice on how to get this game?

      I’ve been quite interested in this game but as you all know-it’s out of print. Any advice on how to get my hands on a copy with dropping tons of money on eBay?

      @victoryfirst
      Personally I’ve found that turtling just prolongs the conquer of Russia. But counterattacking seems to be a rather effective method. If you can catch the Germans off guard and break through the line it will really mess them up. Turtling will ultimately result in Moscow being captured, but counterattacking definitely seems to up my chances of surviving at least long enough for the other allied to land in mainland Europe.

    • RE: Question about bombardment

      @surfer wait so you’re saying that you can’t bombard in a kamikaze zone even if Japan doesn’t use one? I thought it only cancelled the bombardment if they used one

    • Question about bombardment

      Say the US has a fleet including battleships in sea zone 6(around Japan). On Japan’s next turn they buy a destroyer, or any surface warship for that matter. On the US players next turn can the battleships support an amphibious assault or do they have to attack the boat. I know they can’t do both, and if a ship is there when they move in they can’t bombard,but I’m not sure about this situation.

      @flyingbadger very true, I’d say ANZAC has the coolest units overall

    • How and when do you use mechs?

      I’ve seen that a lot of people like buying mechs, and I totally get it for Germany(after a few games of failing Barbarossa) but what other nations do you guys like to buy them for? Please also mention why and how many etc. Russia in particular, I usually just buy infantry instead of mechs. Why buy mechs when they cost more?

      @armedace
      Those are some pretty cool ideas, I’ve thought about incorporating marines and how to do so-your ideas seem good. I also like the idea of interceptors at 2, more realistic and makes you think about SBR more. Although I’m not so sure about reducing air bases costs and increasing their ability to scramble to nearby land-seems OP.

    • RE: Research and Development House Rules

      @midnight_reaper that’s a cool idea and I might have to try it. However I don’t like the idea of getting advancements for free, which is why I like some sort of facility to buy. Since the G40 R&D board seems to have the better advances on one side I’d say you have to roll a 1-4 to get the 1 column, and 5-6 to get the second. Maybe even through in an added cost to get 1-3 & 4-6. But again with that, I think countries should have to build the facilities in their capitol instead of anywhere and starting with them.

      @barnee Thanks for the advice. I really like the research facility idea there. The other is also really cool especially that you can buy it on HBG but my games never last that long so it wouldn’t work that well.
