      @surfer so if there’s no naval battle what are the fighters doing? They don’t get to attack the destroyer do they?

    • RE: Italy and Anzac Strategies?

      @anzacguy I’m not super experienced but with Italy I try to control the Med first, and then work on the other NOs. Italy is a common first target for the US, so they need to get their income as high as possible before they come. The only Europe territories that I let Italy capture is Greece and Gibraltar. After the Med is secure I go for Gibraltar and Egypt, followed by North Africa and then the Middle East. If they get good die rolls early their income can be near 30 by turn 5. But don’t expand too fast because you don’t want to leave Italy unprotected.

      Anzac has already been covered in this forum and I completely agree with that, also GHG had a great video on ANZAC strategies.

    • RE: How is it that AA guns hit so frequently on a 1 and Battleships miss nearly all the time on a 4??

      @brian-cannon well this always seems to happen to me too-burn it’s when I play in person lol

      And I’m the one getting hit by the AA guns

      Wait I’m confused, can’t fighters only scramble if there’s a naval battle? I didn’t think they could initiate it

    • RE: Buying a Destroyer for the Soviet Baltic Fleet

      So yes, a Destroyer won’t do much more than often but in a few scenarios it could prove to be worthwhile

    • RE: Buying a Destroyer for the Soviet Baltic Fleet

      @surfer that’s fair, but as I said before it all depends on the situation, a Baltic fleet could make a huge difference, particularly in operation sea lion

    • G40 Minor Powers

      I know there are other forums on this but I wanted to collect the best ideas here. What minor powers work best (balancing wise and being fun), preferably those without having to buy lots of extra pieces/ones that can use pieces from other games. But if one requires purchasing pieces and is really good feel free to add. Also not G40 specific but that tends to be the most common for minor powers. Thanks!

      @nolimit I sorta agree with this, but at the same time one destroyer can make a way bigger difference than 2 artillery. Situations are situational as is the case with all the allied strategies.

    • RE: 👋 Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Current)

      Hey guys, I really just got into A&A over covid but I really wanted to play it beforehand, just never got a chance. I fell in love with classic and now I’ve bought G40 and D day. I will also get triple A soon. It was such a good feeling to find this website because it answered so many questions I had about rules and opened up so many more possibilities for my gaming.

    • RE: Bids

      @windowwasher I’m getting my PC fixed but then I’ll have to download Triple A, thanks again for the advice. I just tested out bids by myself with allies at +30 on the Europe map. The difference was huge, they put a fighter in Scotland and a destroyer in the 110 fleet I believe-with the French cruiser. They also put a sub in the med for Taranto and a tank for Tobruk. The Axis definitely is limited in what they can do the first turn and they don’t have near total domination of the sea right away.

    • RE: Bids

      @windowwasher Cool thanks for the ideas! What exactly is the reasoning of the subs in the UK fleet around London? Also, does your bid change if you just played a theater game?

    • Bids

      I’m starting to get into bids as I have figured out Axis strategies, Sea Lion, Barbarossa, & Calcutta Crush are my best. But I wanted to know, what the common uses are for allied bids? Any amount of money is fine if you use it and it balances the game out pretty well. Thanks!

    • RE: Advice on how to get this game?

      @captainwalker sorry I didn’t see your response, but there never seems to be more than 3 of them for sale and there at least 150 plus shipping or auctioning at ridiculous prices

      @thedesertfox
      I totally agree. And it’s also crucial that you understand how, when, and where to counterattack. Being the Russian player you don’t get many shots so you need to hit hard and ensure a victory, or a massive blow to the German war machine. You can’t afford to lose unit after unit from counterattacks with little odds of success. To do this more effectively you should try and predict where the German player will go-of course I don’t mean move all your troops to one area, but just a couple troops can greatly change the odds of a counterattack.

    • Advice on how to get this game?

      I’ve been quite interested in this game but as you all know-it’s out of print. Any advice on how to get my hands on a copy with dropping tons of money on eBay?

    • RE: Turtling vs Counter-attacking as Soviet Union?

      @victoryfirst
      Personally I’ve found that turtling just prolongs the conquer of Russia. But counterattacking seems to be a rather effective method. If you can catch the Germans off guard and break through the line it will really mess them up. Turtling will ultimately result in Moscow being captured, but counterattacking definitely seems to up my chances of surviving at least long enough for the other allied to land in mainland Europe.

      @surfer wait so you’re saying that you can’t bombard in a kamikaze zone even if Japan doesn’t use one? I thought it only cancelled the bombardment if they used one
