    • RE: A List of Expansions for Avalon Hill-era Axis & Allies

      @Midnight_Reaper

      Europe at War: EaW was released some years BEFORE ‘Axis and Allies Europe’.

      Pacific wat War. PaW was released about two years AFTER ‘Axis and Allies Pacific’.

      Both are stand-alone games.

      Actually: Pacific at War (Xeno) is a relatively good game. Board is mounted. And I like the naval track from UK/London to the actual map :)

      I would not call these sets of rules ‘expansions’. For me an expansion must have some physical components. So say someone would have released New Rules + New Battleboard + some new units… I would call that an expansion.

      If rules only then I would simply call this ‘set of house rules’ or even just ‘house rules’.
      But it is good you compile this list. Keep posting!

      Personally I would call games like East & West and The War to End All Wars ‘expansions’.

      @CWO-Marc I had these strips featured on my site but someone at AH/MB told me they did not want them to be availible…

      MR,

      Please check out my list of Axis and Allies expansions for the Classic MB game (from the eighties) at my old site at The Wargamer (again: thanks to WG for hosting me!)…

    • RE: AAZ - Review and Thoughts (Work In Progress) [House Rules]

      @taamvan Yes. Infantry does appear after a successful battle and by cards. But you can seriously limit the amount of infantry you have. Still I think this is a very expensive strategy…

      No speculation or house rules in this thread, please.

      Panther, David,

      Can we start a ‘House Rules’ discussion for AAZ?

    • RE: Axis and Allies MB edition: inquiry form included in the box

      Sir,

      That would be very nice. Please say hello from me to the ‘old guard’ at Wizards. There just might be some persons who already workd at MB…
      But yes, please do.

      When I found this very inquiry form in the mid 1990s my friends and I really hoped there would be new GameMaster Series games coming up. Turned out we had to wait quite some years…

    • Axis and Allies MB edition: inquiry form included in the box

      EDIT: I found an image of this very inquiry form. Relevant questions about a potential new Gamemaster Series here:

      https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/assets/uploads/files/1610451934068-gamemaster-customer-survey-card-question-7-to-9.png

      Original posting here:

      Dear all,

      At least some of the boxes of Axis and Allies second edition rules (MB) included a kind of ‘inquiry form’ or sheet by MB.
      Being asked were questions like:

      • What do you want to be the topic of the next Gamemaster Series game?

      And then several options were presented like:

      • historial
      • SF
      • …

      Does anyone have a scan of an image of this form?

      Thanks in advance!

    • RE: Axis and Allies Mediterranean

      @Ichabod:

      It won’t be a game based on World War II if US forces are omitted. It might still be a fun alternate history themed board game.

      I do not agree with you. True: I would prefer US being part of the game.
      But as the designer told: Allied victory on turn X means: Axis did not win prior to US joining. So yes, that basically means: you got up till the Americans coming….

      Welcome back, friend!

      Thanks, zoooma….
      It all seems so  long ago…
      ( https://web.archive.org/web/20011214160853/http://www.wargamer.com:80/axisandallies/ )

      Maybe time for a thread about the ‘good old days’ of Axis and Allies and boardgaming in general on the internet :)
      Sorry to disrupt this AAZ forum but: thanks to wargamer.com, thanks to GeoCities (where I started), thanks to the various clubs, thanks to Peter Goudswaard (who?), thanks to David Jensen… Thanks to everyone older than me who kept the ‘brand’, the concept of Axis and Allies alive in the ‘dark’ 80s and 90s. When we could only dream about so many new games…
      OK, I will stop NOW :)

    • RE: Video: AAZ Unboxing

      I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but I think the 1941 rulebook was produced in two versions, one of which showed silhouettes of the actual 1941-specific sculpts in the game and one of them showing silhouettes from other rulebooks.

      Can anyone confirm this?
      Why was this done?

    • RE: Anybody want to write an AAZ strategy article?

      Yes, great summary.

      Personally I am looking forward to if this indeed an option:

      (2b)  Purposely Triggering the Zombie Apocalypse Condition to bring the game to a swift conclusion.

      Quote from review:

      “The manual inside the game box is a mishmash of the best rules from all the previous versions of the game, and it does a great job of teaching you how to play Axis & Allies. It’s less useful, however, at teaching you how to play Axis & Allies & Zombies.”

      OK, I give in. I had to laugh…

    • RE: Cold War 1962 and Zombies, how it should have been

      @Caesar:

      If zombies get big, they said they might expand the zombie brand into other games. I told them to make a set of cards for G40, that would be interesting as hell to see.

      Personally that doesn’t quite feel ‘good’ to me. For me Global is a way too serious game for that. On the other hand: no one will ‘force’ us to use these cards.

      If they want to continue on this road then I suggest a more space/superweapon/technology game. I mentioned this earlier somewhere here on this subforum: German secret base on Antarctica,… stuff like that. US base on the moon? Why not?

      But most of all (off-topic here, I know) I like to see an Axis and Allies Med game.

    • RE: A very unethical strategic move

      @Caesar:

      I basically did that in Africa because I wanted to turn Africa into a zombine hoard to deny UK it’s resources but they mopped up the area very well.

      Did you use these cards too? You added zombies in Africa by playing cards?
      I am so curious how the card deck looks….

    • RE: The Rules of Axis & Allies & Zombies

      @taamvan:

      I don’t think that the things in this particular game are now canon changes made for games going forward;  I regarded this one as a kind of “Farewell Tour” for a very well fleshed out franchise and concept.

      What do you mean by this last sentence?
      Also: you guys are at the launching party now? :)

    • RE: More questions about AAZ?

      I agree with CWO Marc on this.
      Personally I think AAZ is a kind of… special one.
      I cannot see many of these games coming up.

      Although a SF-like Axis and Alllies games might be nice: German superweapons, Japanese secret bases, German base on Antarctica, some space weapons…
