    • RE: What's the cheesiest thing about Global 1940?

I think the Axis victory conditions need to be more like the Allies’. So maybe simply “axis must control 5 allied capitols as well as at least 1 axis capitol for a complete round of play”. That may sound like it would take too long, but remember, the allies have to completely wipe out their enemy to win. Killing everyone but U.S. or everyone but U.S.S.R. wouldn’t be that hard. And conceding is always an option.

Another way to do it would be make it 3 of these 4: washington, london, calcutta, moscow.

Yet another, “axis must control washington, london, and moscow as well as at least 1 axis capitol for a complete round of play”. That might seem weird at first because none are on the pacific map, but to me this seems like the best option. First of all, if japan is strong enough, it is reasonable to take moscow and/or washington with them. Secondly, even if germany/italy end up taking all the capitols, this will only be possible if japan is played well enough to stay rich, destroy india, and sap resources from U.S.

Oh yeah, by the way I think the 6VC win for Japan is the cheesiest thing in G40.

    • RE: Images of the Map?

When playing on a coffee table, I agree with you, but I’m talking about a computer game called triple a. My computer is a few years old, so maybe it doesn’t have all the latest, but it doesn’t seem to be able to open any diamond shaped windows. The wasted space I was referring to is the space outside the diamond, yet inside the as-of-yet nonexistent square triple a window.

    • RE: Images of the Map?

If any of you delightfully nefarious and crafty triple a programmers/designers are reading this, I have a potentially useful idea: Instead of having a big diamond shaped board with a bunch of wasted space around it, just rotate the whole map 45 degrees clockwise like the recent jpg, then rotate the territory names back to being parallel with the new bottom (southeast) edge. North wouldn’t be up anymore, but actual game play wouldn’t be affected and it would prevent many headaches. Southwest edge being the bottom would work too, of course.

      good idea/bad idea?

      please comment.

    • RE: Modules for ABattlemap

hello I’m new to this site and can’t find people to play in person where I am. I have downloaded the ABattlemap file for not windows which is on top post here (using a mac), and it doesn’t start installing when I open the file. This computer wouldn’t run tripleA either, apparently it needed java updates. But when I attempted to update the computer wouldn’t let me, and said it already had a later version of java. What am I missing here? I don’t care if I sound stupid, just throw me a bone so I can start playing. [mac os x 10.4.11]

      much appreciation.
