    • RE: AA50 to be added on GTO.

      @Uncrustable:

      So has GTO scratched this? Or just more waiting? If this is true then i cant wait!!

      GTO looks better than tripleA, and is easier for new players to learn
      It also plays better/ more fluidly

      but triplea is free and has wayy more maps, and is easily edited (and does not look half bad either)
      and is super easy (and again free!) to play by email/forum

      you cant compare apples to oranges. I prefer an apple but i eat oranges too!

      For more leisurely paced games (play by email/forum) tripleA is better
      But GTO takes the cake in realtime

      I do beleive GTO can be play by email though as well.

      I use GTO to PBEM all the time. Much more convenient.

      As to the AA50, I asked the GTO Admin Rob Eng and they have hit some major unexpected bugs in the system that is taking longer than they thought it would to clean up. They really hope to have it up soon but it will take a while.  :-(

      So I will continue to play AA42.1 while I wait. ^_^

      @Texas:

      Just to get a bit of clarification on the top of page 20.  It says I can elect to not attack enemy ships.  So I can move the Austrian fleet into the same sea zone as the Italian fleet and not conduct combat?  If there was also British ships present, could I choose to only attack the Brits or is it all or nothing?

      I believe that only applies if you start in the same sea zone as the enemy ships.

      ~Venoc, noticing we answered each other’s questions about the same thing. lol

      @Texas:

      @TheVenocWarlord:

      If a sea zone is contested at the start of the player’s turn, can they retreat from the sea zone?

      Currently it’s Britain’s turn, and they have a damaged battleship and three transports in sz10 with 4 German battleships. Germany dumped it’s entire income last turn to force the hand of Britain.

      No such thing as a contested sea zone, just friendly or hostile.  That said, UK can move their ships wherever they want and do not need to conduct combat.

      Okay. Thanks!

      @smo63:

      Suggestions for GEN CON events/Tournaments.  We will be running tournament events for: 1942 SE, AA50, 1914, 1941 & G42.  1941 might sound just right for you if you aren’t confident in your AA play… :?

      Thanks for the list. I will probably play in the 1941 version, as truly I am not a good player. lol Looking for a good game where I’m not smashed on the opening round. hahaha. Also so I can have more time to play other games up there.

      @coachofmany:

      @TheVenocWarlord:

      Would you guys be willing to allow Heroscape at that Convention? I know many OK and TX Scapers who would love to go to play.

      Here is the link to our website: http://www.heroscapers.com/community/blog.php?u=2

      For those not in the know, Heroscape is a pre-painted miniature game that features 3D customizable hex terrain. The figures are based on historical, science fiction, and fanasty figures. Basically, you can have Airborne Elite fighting samurai fighting robots fighting dragons, and so one. Awesome game; my most favorite :) (With AA being my second.)

      Still too early on this, I am open to many games, but Role playing games are out for sure.

      Ahh, okay. Well since Heroscape is not a rpg then I don’t need to worry about that. lol

      As I purchased GW39, I really like the map.

      Looking forward to the changes; better to have them then start playing the game as is. lol

      Took me a long time to set up the earlier version, but afterward I had to tear it down before I could play. lol

    • GW39 D6 Variant with No Special Units?

      I ordered the Global War 1939 map because of how awesomesauce it looked; starting right at the beginning of the war, includes all major and minor powers that fought in it, and includes more territories and a larger map. Setup looks good too, even if it seems like there are some issues (Notably the major ipc in Novobrisk and none in Stalingrad area.)

      However, I’m not quite a fan of the d12 system used, adjusted costs, and special units. I understand why it is done, as some prefer that system. I respect that. However, I prefer sticking close to the Axis and Allies roots as close as possible. Namely, this being an extension of G40’s rules.

      So, I was wondering; is there any plans for using the G40’s rules on this map? No special units, d6 system, and limited special rules. (Namely like with France’s special placement; I don’t want any country specific rules, if you get what I mean.)

      Thanks. :)

      @Gargantua:

      thx.

      Of course… Greg Smorey wants to convince everyone, that alternate setups were his idea.

      I know the truth Oz…

      If you bother to read the post Krieghund just made in the other thread, you will see that is not true.

      oztea, I’m going to use your 1941 and 1942 set ups as well at some point. Variant set ups are very interesting! :)

      I have taken pictures of the new setup.
      I just don’t know how to post them.

      Add them on photobucket, and then post the link here.

      @Pherman1215:

      If USA lands a bomber in Amur and Japan attacks that bomber with their own bomber, does Mongolia trigger?  Thanks in advance.

      I would believe so. Don’t hold me to that, though.

      Could you post a non-triplea link please? Like jpeg? I can’t see it from this computer.

      Sweet!

      I already already feeling in the mood to crank out the Global 1940 again; but now I’ll do this one on the map! :)

      EDIT: Would someone be willing to post a picture of the map with this new set up? And zoomed in pictures for each major area of the map?

    • RE: Not bad actually

      @Canuck12:

      Glad to hear people like it.

      I have yet to buy it, but Will do so now. The girlfriend loves the game but AA42 2nd edition is too much for newbies if you dont have all the mechanics down.

      Thanks for the feedback everyone!

      Don’t forget to give Russian 2/3 extra infantry in Moscow and an US destroyer on the EUS coast.

      Actually, I’m playing a solo game at this time. ^_^

      (Good way to scratch the A&A itch when you don’t have the time/patience for a longer game.)

    • RE: Tanks - worth purchasing?

      @Flashman:

      But see tanks primarily as a means of breaking through a defender who cannot afford to hit back. They re a war finishing weapon once you have the upper hand economically.
