You are using the older Triple A version. 1.6 something. I have the newest version.

RE: VenocWarlord(Axis) vs. Commando Brado(Allies +9) - 1942 2nd edition…posted in Play Boardgames
There are two optional rules.
#1). FTR’s can intercept and escort during bombing runs. I say we play w/this rule. Most people do.
#2). SZ16(Black Sea) is closed to naval units. I say we play w/this rule as well. Most people do.
1. I haven’t used that rule before even though I’m familiar with it. So sure I guess we will use it.
2. For this version, the strait is supposed to be closed permanently. So yes we will use it.
I’ll make sure to check the boxes too.
I’ll have my turn done sometime today.

RE: Current bid rules? Placement of bid units?posted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
Are the rules still that you can’t place more than one unit from a bid into a territory/seazone? Or, are people still using the old rules of where you can place more than one unit from a bid into a territory/seazone? I’ve heard both… Thanks in advance!
I’m most familiar with the 1st rule. It’s also the best version to use so it won’t get abused. (Aka don’t have a major stack of units in one that that could drastically effect the balance. One new unit per a territory/seazone minimizes the chance of that.)

Okay, looking at my schedule, I will be playing the the AA Open Gaming. (Gonna have to register it quickly though.)
You will also be seeing me at the Heroscape tournament area, as they are in the same Hall C! :)

I see that this is for ROCmonster, but I don’t see a thread for our game. I guess you don’t have it up yet.

Did you mean this thread for our game?

RE: Axis and Allies 1914 FAQ/Question and Answer Threadposted in Axis & Allies 1914
This man is not me. The mighty Flash has no need for a sock puppet!
He is, quite obviously, the evil alter-ego of Axis and Allies creator and all-round hard man Larry Harris. His mission in life is to make the real Larry look intelligent and knowledgeable.
Correct. The laws of physics tell us there is matter and antimatter, protons and antiprotons, and positive charges and negative charges. This tells us that if a Larry Harris exists, then there must be a Harry Larris.
You’re just wrong about one thing. I am the good alter-ego. I design Christian themed board games that promote the ideals of charity and good works.
And you’re a former member of the Blue Man Group?
Should this guy really be allowed to troll?

Question about navals mines. Am I correct to assume they are they rolled for during the movement phase? So I couldn’t, for example, take an enemy province with a sea port then fight a mine-free naval battle in the adjacent sea zone?
No, Flashman, You roll for it after the movement phase, and just before you conduct the combat phase.

Hey, I’ll play a game of AA42.2 against you.
PBEM/PBF only. TripleA
Since I’m new to it all, would you mind to set it up?
I’ll PM this to you as well, and with my e-mail address.

the AI is more of a novelty, or something to use on a first playthrough of a map
triplea is really meant to be played either online, or play-by-forum/email
i recognize you from gto. glad to see we are not completely unknown to those guys.
That was my intent for the AI, mainly. Just to get a feel for the system. I may still use it on occasion just to see what crazy stuff the AI will let me get away with.
It’s nice to be recognized from another site. :-) I think I may have seen you over there; I’m not sure.

Just got around to trying out TripleA, and I am currently trying it against an AI.
It’s awesome! :-D
Looking forward to a game against an opponent once I get it figured out! :)
(Yes I will be going to the thread to do so.)

RE: Need Strategy to counter GER assault against UK navy…posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
Send me an Async challenge on GTO and let’s see if I can’t help you out. Even though I’m not a good player per se, I do use the some of same opening moves at the “pros.” (I fall apart after that. )
Usually, depending on how Germany opens, it’s best to buy an AC and 2 destroyers on UK1, or just save all your cash until UK2 to build that fleet and more.

RE: Brainstorming for the Central Powersposted in Axis & Allies 1914
AH must NOT waste any money on ships!
Germany must not waste any money on ships!
Ottoman Empire must not waste any money on ships!
Ground forces and fighters that’s all there is for the CPs to win - nothing else!
And even then it’s difficult enough!Completely disagree. CP Navy is the way to go. By Germany “wasting” their cash on Battleships, Britain is forced to buy more to protect it’s and America’s transports. And once Russia falls, Austria can focus on Italy and build a navy.
Austria is the key to this game, in my opinion and gameplay. Germany just keeps France and Britain preoccupied, and Austria swoops in with it’s forces and navy to finish the blow.

RE: GenCon 2013posted in Events
So, I’ve been looking through the events posted thus far on the GenCon page…
Granted, they may not be up fully, but I have a question:
It looks like to me that all the events are either open play, for beginners, or tournaments that have restricted access (i.e. need to have won a prior game). I don’t see any events that are considered the opening rounds for say 1942.2 or 1914. Is it just that it’s not up yet on GC, or is there some outside factor to get in?
Also, when it says that a game is two hours long, how does that work really? AA tournaments are new to me, and I’m not exactly sure of the changes made to speed things up.
Thanks.
EDIT: Okay, I found the page that shows how they keep the game moving. My other questions still hold.
~Venoc, who does play Heroscape tournaments, and knows that they don’t differ much from regular games.

RE: The Great War 1914-1918: Clash of Empiresposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
@Imperious:
So, I was wondering if you would make an alternate setup or whatnot that just included the most basic of units? No special units or special rules (other than NOs) to each country? It would be appreciated too, though I understand if that’s not feasible. Maybe that could be done after the game is released.
Well the game does have two versions: Standard and Advanced.
Less units in Standard like no airships, or seaplane carrier, plus historical event sequence is only part of the advanced game.
The game is in the same complexity level as global, just in a different way.
We have both grognads and AA peeps to make happy so that’s why it has two versions.
Oh, okay, I didn’t even notice that. Thanks for including that! Looking forward to the game! ^_^
Looking forward to the American Civil War version too! :D
Also, who are the grognads?
Variable, is there plans for an alternate set-up for G39 that does not use specialized units?

RE: The Great War 1914-1918: Clash of Empiresposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
IL, I really like the map and basic ideas you have for your custom game, and I do appreciate you specialized units and rules.
However, I’m more of a fan of the “standard” Axis and Allies setup; say nothing more complicated than G40.

~Venoc, still considering getting the game either way.

RE: AA50 to be added on GTO.posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
As far as I can tell it’s difficult for them to get the rights to get the games. Only so many for extended periods of time. Thus I doubt G40 or 42.2 will be added for a while since they are still being sold OOB.
