so true, if i need troops in africa i will build a transport. much more useful. india on the other hand is too far to get men to so an Ic is your only option.

    • RE: Russia in the East

definitely avoid manchuria. your force is much inferior on offense and japan works best along the cost where it can drop infantry of trannys. give japan a headache by making him chase you inland.

    • RE: Shortest game

I was able to take Russia on turn 2 because of some lucky rolling. because he paniced, i took britain with the baltic tranny turn 3, and then had a mediteranian force take usa when he sqandered the us navy in a failed attack on britain.

    • RE: Does anyone have any tactics/advice for AAE?

plith7, the rules for naval placement have changed in AAE, if the us places naval units they can now fight instead of simply being destroyed, make a german blockade a very expensive venture.

    • RE: How to spend 12 IPCs

if germany places first, i would prefer a trasport in the german SZ to scare to uk into using their 12ipc on home defense. if germany is allowed to place 2nd, as dezertfish said, i like to just put armor in libya to do a quick first turn storm into the middle east. getting the extra income early in the game really helps.

    • RE: A&A europe and pacific adjustments

somehow increasing the importance of the war in the atlantic would make things more intresting. germany can pretty much ignore Britain and america in AAE.

    • RE: The Sten Gun

Pretty simple… with germany i built Infantry first turn and tanks every other turn, with russia i simply built infantry in belorussia. All went well for me. I would love to do it again some time.

    • RE: What's next

Exactly! The Great war was a remarkably dynamic war. What if Germany played defensively against russia and went even stronger at france? what if gallipoli succeeded? in addition, the politics of the time could be simulated, to make things more intresting treatys and neutrality could be used in the initial stages of the game. new tech developements like the tank could really change the situation in europe. and you could even have a battle of the atlantic like AAE. This would be soooo cool.

perhaps enlighted generalship could win the war. WWI commanders were not known for thier creativity…

    • RE: Best general

I am in the belief that monty’s perceived lack of aggression stems from britain’s dire manpower shortage by the end of the war. Market-Garden was an example of this desire to end the war with minimal loss in life. Even if the british people had a blood and guts general like Patton, they would not favor him because this attitude would be perceived as carelessness with the live of soldiers.

    • RE: Russia first strike

I very much agree. russia is soooo much more dangerous if it can keep it’s initial tanks and have them availible for counter attack. The initial german force is so tank heavy that most of their moves in the begining make them vulnrable to a costly defense of a newly aquired territory.

    • RE: Japan first strategies

I do not consider abandoning the most important colony in his majesty’s empire to be an option. India is the single most important territory in asia and its defense is hugely important in stalling the japanese offensive.
