      I have not played Japan very often but I am not one to hit the US right off.  I like to secure China and the DEI first.  Cripple or take India and pressure the ANZAC’s is next while harrassing the US with landings in Alaska and the Philipeans.  Alaska doesn’t really mean that much but most US palyers will not want Japanese forces in North America.  Once Japan’s IPC level is up and I can build more capitol ships and planes, that is when I move to really hit the US fleet.  An Aggressive US player will make this stratagy much harder to pull off though.  the game I am currently playing, the Japan player did hit the Hawaiian fleet on round one and took it on round two.  The US player has been so focused on the Japan player that the Italians have taken Brazil and the Germans have landed in the West Indies and convoy raided the east coast of the US.  Britain has had no help and is barely hanging on.  The round 1 DOW can work if you have the right kind of player in position.  To give the US player credit, he has begun to make some better playes and is pushing back but he is having to regain alot of lost ground which really help the axis players be more aggressive.

      @aequitas:

      @knp7765:

      Or how about Germany? In our game, it’s 1 battle and done. In reality it took the Allies on both sides from December 1944 to May 1945 to conquer all of that single country and that was with their main thrusts involved for the US/UK and USSR.

      That was because the Americans dragged it out because of the good Food here in Germany.
      Name one american who can resist Bratwurst and  Sauerkraut or Schweinsbraten??

      Oh and 'mericans love Castles so there you go, they got a lot of them here.
      (Not to mention the good beer,though)

      Well, I do like a good Bratwurst. Don’t care for Sauerkraut (although I loved it as a kid) and I don’t even know what a Schweinsbraten is.
      I must admit, castles are pretty cool too. And who doesn’t love a good cold beer (especially if it’s served up by a lovely blond fraulein)?

      My mistake was not sending my two move units to Romania the previous turn as Germany. I just played out turn 9 and US was able to stack Northern Italy. Italy is out of the game now, but on the other side of the board Japan is making 105, and he is bombing Russia with 5 bombers every turn. He has more than UK in the south and he can now start landing in Africa taking the money away from Russia and UK. I do agree that US is going to eventually take Germany, but could he do it before Moscow falls? Probably :/

      Ummm, yea it is trapped.  The Japanese (as knp said) generally move fleet to sz 36 J1/J2 which would include carriers (you’ve heard of them right, planes fly off and sink ships etc……). Japanese bmrs could also be with-in range as well  from Kwangsi. If the Brit BB goes to Hong Kong UK1, Japan can get into position on J2 to kill it anywhere it moves w/o question if it wants to. Even if the Japanese keep their fleet home in sz6, or move it out to the Carolines J1, they can move to sz 36 J2 and trap it.

      Well said on everything. The only thing I might disagree on are the Russian units in the east. In a KJF game you need those 20 units to defend Moscow, otherwise Moscow just rolls over and dies way too easily.

      With a 22 bid have you seen anyone bid a carrier sub with UK? This would allow UK to stack 92 depending on what Germany buys.

      There is a reason why I strongly prefer to play the axis.

      My last live game I was like, “I will give you a Russian bomber, 5 usa inf anywhere in mainland america, a sub in sz 98, and an infantry on new guinea. If I get to be the axis.” He was like “that sounds like a really good deal.”

      It was a close game.
      ~

      It is like America’s economic system, it will crash then money will be reallocated based on the social security system. That is the game plan. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense, sure the people who start out with the most monetary wealth in this new system will be the ones who paid into social security the most (makes sense to me). Everyone has other wealth, land, possessions etc so wealthy people will be fine.

      I do not see why anyone would be afraid of the dollar collapse.
      ~

      Just try that 5 inf USA, bomber russia, sub 98, inf new guinea. Like if you are good with the axis you should be fine with the allies getting all that stuff.

      I told you the game wouldn’t let me do that turn. I think we have to restart, but I really only want to play live. I think it is just much easier.

      I like this game for what it’s intended for, it’s not necessarily ment to be a totally dictated by strategy- luck plays a huge part in it as well and i have come to terms with it.

      No worries.  I’m leaving for vacation in a week, so I’m going to be away between June 1st and June 10th (ish).  We may as well wait until then to pick back up.

      Italy can’t go first. The axis are already too powerful. I have never won a Europe game playing against myself on the europe board with allies. Italy going before UK would mean Italy is a juggernaut! Also keep the french units. They don’t do much, but making them UK wouldn’t be historical at all.

      @Axisplaya:

      @theROCmonster:

      Possibly even T3 if mistakes were made.

      Anything is possible with enough mistakes from one side…

      @theROCmonster:

      Japs only need Hawaii, hong kong, phillipines, and calcutta. I can see Japan taking all these by T4

      I can’t….If Japan can get Hong Kong, Phi, Haw and Ind by T4 when Allies don’t commit huge mistakes, then the game is completely broken.

      I’ve not only seen it, I’ve done it.  The game is not completely broken - however.  America just has to keep investing in the Pacific, the allies lose if there is not a HUGE investment by America in the Pacific EARLY.

      I don’t see how Japan could ever loose unless the dice are god aweful. With Russia not there as a threat and US making significantly less money in the pacific. How does Japan loose, even with the new Alpha 3 setup?
