I know I’m replying to an old post, but this is for anyone new seeing it. I was as frustrated as you regarding the battleship missing. I actually created an Excel spreadsheet and started tracking hits for battleships in combat & shore bombardment.
I collected a sample size of 400 attacks for each. Honestly, they both hit around 67% of the time.
To be honest, the “1.3 happening 75% of the time” was hyperbole. With that said, my frustration wasn’t with just a singular combat. A singular combat would not prompt me to take screen shots and post them to the forum.
Two rounds of one attacking fighter versus two defending infantry isn’t expected to end well.
By that point in the combat, I just wanted to see what happened. The ENTIRE round of combat for that turn went in a similar fashion and this was my last battle.
I don’t recommend using that dice calculation tool
All the other calculators gave similar predictions.
