I’ve already opened mine off camera and have had it for a couple of days already, too late I’m guessing?

Zeppelin Unitposted in House Rules
I was thinking that a Zeppelin unit in 1914 would be an interesting idea. Though they weren’t used very often, it would still be cool to see them be the other air unit in the game.
Zeppelin
Cost: 15 IPCs, Attacks: 1, Defends: 3, Movement: 4
Summary: The Zeppelin acts as a transport for Fighters. It is able to carry only 1 Fighter at a time, and to transport a fighter the two units must be in the same beginning territory. The Zeppelin is unable to pass over any opposing units. Effectively, the Zeppelin gives Fighters their 4 movement like they would have in WW2 games. A fighter being carried by a Zeppelin CANNOT disembark mid flight. To leave a Zeppelin, it must either be the beginning of the movement phase, or the Zeppelin must move 4 times. The reason the Zeppelin becomes the most expensive unit in the game, is because of the great potential it has, being able to carry over a unit that allows for Air Superiority so quickly. Like all other land and air units in this game, a Zeppelin must be accompanied by a correlating Infantry.
Special Ability - “Master of the Skies”: If the Zeppelin is in the air above a seazone or opposing territory, it can stay suspended in the air for 1 turn. In the beginning of the next movement phase, before all combat and non-combat moves are decided, the Zeppelin must land safely in friendly territory. This can be especially useful for the United States when transporting fighters to mainland Europe.

Possible Kursk Game?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
From my knowledge, even though by 1943 the Eastern Axis’ victory was unlikely, The Battle of Kursk was one of the most tight battles of the war. Would a local 1 vs. 1 game between Germany and the Soviet Union work?

Yes, National Objectives are in Anniversary. In fact, this was the game to introduce them as far as I’m aware.

RE: [House Rules] Bid Amount?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Really? For me I heard that 1941 is grossly weighted towards specifically Japan with the amount of ships they have. I can confirm because I’ve played 50th on Triple A, and they definitely start with a lot carriers and transports.

Technology sounds very intriguing! Do you think using pieces from HBG’s “Amerika” would be a good idea for that?

Country Specific Breakthroughs (Classic)posted in House Rules
I was thinking of incorporating country specific breakthroughs into Classic. How it would work, is that they would be an R&D breakthrough. You would pay for dice, roll them, and if you successfully roll a 6 you can choose 1 of 2 things. 1: roll again to get one of the 6 existing breakthroughs. 2: Choose the special upgrade for your country.
USSR - Infantry Sale: Infantry’s price is lowered to 2 IPCs. If the USSR player already has the Industrial Technology breakthrough, the price of Infantry remain at 2. This technology can really come in handy when defending your western front against the German player.
Germany - The Waffen SS: The German player unlocks a new unit, the SS Infantry. To combat the USSR’s 2 IPC infantry, Germany has access to a new type of Infantry. The SS Infantry costs 4 IPCs and attacks on a 2, defends on a 2, and moves on a 1. To represent the Waffen SS, I use Germany’s Infantry units from 1941. There is no limit to how many SS Infantry you can produce.
UK - Scrambling: Scrambling works exactly like it does in other versions of Axis and Allies. Since there are no air bases in Classic, it will instead be replaced with any Industrial Complexes. This is to aid in protecting the UK’s capital from a potential Operation Sealion
Japan - Advanced Submarines: In Axis and Allies Classic, with Submarines you’re only able to use the “Surprise Submarine Attack” once, and it is in the first round of combat. With this breakthrough it can also be used in the second round of combat effectively giving the Japanese player a second chance. The purpose is to strengthen the Japanese navy against the US’. This breakthrough can also be stacked with the “Super Submarines” breakthrough.
US - Naval Yards: Since there is no way to repair damaged Battleships in Classic, if the US player gains this breakthrough, they’re able to fix that. The US player can repair any damaged battleships (but not Aircraft Carriers) at any of its sea-zones adjacent to an Industrial Complex. This only applies to their complexes, so no repairing at London’s seazone. The purpose is to combat the Japanese player’s “Advanced Submarines”.
Italy (If you’re playing my house rules) - Might of the Italian Air Force: All air units are 25% cheaper, rounded. Fighters cost 9 IPCs and Bombers cost 11 IPCs. This is to combat the UK’s air breakthrough.
Notice how I had the all of the game’s rivals have the same category of breakthrough?
USSR and Germany - Land Breakthrough
UK and Italy - Air Breakthrough
USA and Japan - Sea Breakthrough.Opinions?

RE: Man in the High Castle Scenarioposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Why yes I am aware if Amerika by HBG. However I would have the German Reich’s side face off against the Japanese Empire’s. I think the resistance is a great idea! What if the resistance was the U.S resistance allied with the remanants of the U.S.S.R and British Empire as one power? Also to Rnak Carcass, I believe Amerika is set in 1947, while Man in the High Castle is set in the mid 1960s

Man in the High Castle Scenarioposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Would a “Man in the High Castle” scenario work well in an Axis and Allies type game? If so what kind of board suit it best? (Other than the obvious Global board). For the unaware, “The Man in the High Castle” is an Alt-History book/TV show in which the Axis win WW2, and take over the world.
I’m thinking of having there be 2 sides, and 6 powers to play as.
Europa: Lead by Nazi Germany the political powers would be the German Reich, the Greater German Reich (Nazi America), and the Neo-Roman Empire (Italy).
East Asian Sphere: Lead by Imperial Japan the political powers would be the Japanese Empire, the Pacific States of America (Japanese America), and the Southern Asian Alliance (Consisting of India, Thailand, and the Philippines).

YouTube videosposted in General Discussion
As someone who recently opened a YouTube channel, I want to improve on my speaking skills. Whenever I watch one of YG or GHG’s videos for example, they’re able to speak and not stutter. They also don’t sound like a robot like I do. Does anyone have any tips?

You know, as a lover on both Nintendo Games and Axis and Allies, this would’ve been the last place where I expected to see news about Nintendo.

RE: A New Gameposted in General Discussion
To answer your question about “what do you think is missing?”, I would say maybe add more depth. Make it feel like it’s YOUR country, where you are the country’s leader and it isn’t just you playing as Hitler or Stalin. Somehow add more politics into the game, or have trade routes set up based on the economic value of a territory. Or maybe something like “Germany is able trade with any nations it isn’t at war with, including it’s allies”. I wouldn’t know how to add such things as I am not game developer myself, but I think it would be cool to see something like this. If not that, maybe more operation specific games? We already have D-Day and Barbarossa, but what if there was something like the Battle of Berlin? (Of course finding a way for it to be balanced unlike the actual Battle of Berlin). In short, I have two ideas,
1: Have the ultimate WW2 board game simulator
2: More operation games -
A New Gameposted in General Discussion
I am aware that Anniversary is going to be getting a re-release here in a few months (As of 8/20/2017), however the last new Axis and Allies game we’ve gotten was 1914 back in 2013. Would it ever be possible for Avalon Hill to release a new game? Possibly a 3rd Edition of 1942, or another version of WW2. I know Larry Harris is releasing a new game, but will he permanently move on from Axis and Allies?

RE: A&A 50posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
We now have more information on the re-release! Though Amazon lists it as being released on November 1st, the target release is October 6th. I’m wondering if my copy will come earlier, since I ordered it off Amazon

A&A 50posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
So as we all know, 50th is getting a re-release. What I’m not sure of, is whether or not there will be added rules, pieces, etc.
Will this “Second Edition” be as drastic as 1942 1st Ed. to 2nd Ed? Or will it be as simple as Global 1st Ed. to 2nd Ed? :? -
RE: Anniversary edition reprint announced at Origins?posted in News
Does anyone know what the pricing of the original print of A&A 50 in 2008 was? I ask because I’m assuming it’ll be the same price as the reprint. :?
