This is incredible Kongoshin…wow.
Why did you remove the sea zone lines in the North Atlantic/Norway/Karelia area though?

Wow. I had inquired in previous threads on this forum and had only been directed to versions that had multiple personal touches on them. This is way better than mine! Lol, I’ll take it though.
Do you have any guidance on printing your own map? I hear neoprene is pretty sharp.
Hello all.
Here is a map of AnA Anniversary, unaltered. I cut it using GIMP just inside the yellow border line to maximize playing space. I used a high res photograph. The only issue is that the 3rd board over came in just slightly off color for some reason.
Any photoshoppers out there better than me that can fix this?

gotta go to work. pick it up later
I’m always down for a game of classic. My preferred vehicle is VASSAL but I can give AAA a swing, sure.

Thanks for the links!
Those are huge bids, goodness. I still intend to finish out my series for my own development and for the raw fact that there doesn’t seem to be any substantial content on YouTube concerning this version. Perhaps after I finish my video series and then gain more experience through these clubs, I can make more videos showing development of strategy. Thanks a ton for the push in the right direction.
Yes, I will post every new video link into this forum.
Thanks for this post!
I am not offering a silver bullet for the axis. My argument is that the game may not be as imbalanced as I was led to believe and that a solid, competitive game can be had between two opponents who understand the game at a level which I hope to convey in my videos once completed. I’ll try to make that clear in a future video.
I have the names and some of the backgrounds of the online opponents. I’m not sure by what metric to rate them and so I’m not sure how I can answer this question. Lay out a metric and I’ll do my best to answer. This argument is also one I bring to bear against Don himself. He never cites his experience in his essays so I wanted to make sure that I at least tried to fill this gap. And to your experience with the game, Don updated his essays up to 2003 I believe, not long after you stopped playing it (everyone stopped playing it?). If there is any new material that has developed I would be very interested in your pointing me in the right direction. This is especially true in regards to the “various organizations of leagues that are playing A&A classic”. I haven’t run into anything so dedicated in my internet perusals and I hope that its obvious that I would be EXTREMELY interested in such a thing.
Good call. That was something my camera did which annoyed the hell out of me. I will endeavor to stitch them together in the future before posting and will update the first video with a link to the second.
The five recap notes are all visible starting around 9:40. Maybe you had scrolled down on your screen?
I may or may not. I’ll bring them up if its interesting. The specific target audience in this video is anyone from the global or contemporary versions of AnA that have never played classic. At one time or another, these rules surprised an opponent. I don’t like when my opponents are surprised by rules.
Again, to anyone reading this, I’m not offering silver bullets. I’m an AnA player like the rest of you, not a boardgame god. I’ve racked up a lot of AnA classic games and I’m sharing my experiences and of course always trying to get better!

Hello all!
I have decided to rebut Don’s essays on Axis and Allies classic in a ten part series on YouTube. You can check out the first video (in two parts) by clicking on the link below:

My intent is to release one part every week over the next ten weeks. I hope this gets some folks to break out the classic again!

Thanks! Yes, it would also be nice to know where the classic map went.
Much appreciated.
Is there anyway to download a map of AnA Anniversary without being riddled by spam when attempting the download?
@Imperious-Leader said in Axis and allies classic enhanced 2.0:
already sticky in appropriate forum
I have given up after about 15 min of clicking all over the forum…where is this “appropriate forum?”
I’m hoping there is a Anniversary Map available for pdf download.
thanks for the reference Reaper. I found the sentence missing from my “updated” rulebook that I downloaded. I’m bookmarking this page and reprinting my rulebooks.
Page 19 Step 3: “As many hits as possible must be assigned. For instance, if 1 cruiser and 2 submarines attack a carrier with a fighter and score 3 hits, the defender must assign the cruiser hit to the fighter and the submarine hits to the carrier. The defender may not assign the cruiser hit to the carrier, as the subs cannot hit the fighter and 1 sub hit would be lost.”
These three sentences would not be necessary if sequential column rolling of the dice were part of the core rules as is such in Classic.
Thanks again!
Hello,
When rolling in axis and allies classic, the rules are clear that a player should roll for each attack/defense column at a time, starting with the lowest value and the opposing side is supposed to apply casualties before the attacker continues his rolls.
(Pages 18 and example on page 25 in classic RB)
Is this true for all versions of AnA? Cite rule please. It wasn’t obvious to me in the AnA40 rulebooks and ppl who use battle dice tend to throw everything at once…which has always seemed odd to me.
Situations in a battle exist where this matters, especially with submarines or a bomber on defense / some other expensive “soak”.
Thanks!!
@AcesWild5049:
For anyone who has every played in the AnA tournaments listed in the title:
I heard at strategicon this year that all subsequent tournaments would not be using Europe 40 / Pacific 40 or Global as the final, but another edition. Does anyone know which AnA they’ve switched to for the tournaments now?
Hey Aces! The idea was to switch over to Anniversary edition (since it is shorter to get more rounds in) and that was tried at Gamex when we had like 20 or so people. It had a mediocre reception (I personally didn’t enjoy it at all). The organizer was trying to get the event sponsored, but never got any response from WOTC. At Gateway, there were only 5 of us, so we only played one game of global for all the marbles (which was an absolute blast :)). I’m not sure what the plan is for next year, but I’m hoping we switch back to 1940.
Hey thanks! I remember him saying he was going to try to get WotC to turn over a 1st edition copy of anniversary as a give-away. Sorry to hear about the low turn out. If it helps, I plan on attending all three events next year =)
I’ll pick up anniversary just in case and bring all three games.
I dont know how you navigated through that website to get this result. I couldnt even get the images to fit into their template without a ton of white space around it. Can throw out a link to the exact page on the website you used?
That’s awesome… now you just need to replace those old [requires tiny fingers] styrafoam trays with something more modern to match all the other great work you did… get some modern unit bins!
I took you up on this and bought six huskies =)
