@VictoryFirst …that is a good point. To be frank, I have repeatedly played out the UK dual IC build in classic by myself to get it to work right / find out when or when not to do it. That can/should be considered solo play.
Yeah, good point.

@Imperious-Leader said in Axis and allies classic enhanced 2.0:
already sticky in appropriate forum
I have given up after about 15 min of clicking all over the forum…where is this “appropriate forum?”
I’m hoping there is a Anniversary Map available for pdf download.
@Martin yes, you can do this move. The error is likely appearing as this is the only version of Axis and Allies where infrastructure doesn’t prevent blitz. My recommendations is to go to the “Game” tab at the top and then select “roll dice”. Roll 1d6. You both will get the result. Edit out the IPC that were bombed.
It’s a near perfect rendition of the original on a digital format:
It utilizes interactive scans of the aids that came with the original game. The battle board for instance allows both players to “stack” their pieces in each appropriate “column”. They then click on the number in that column to begin that columns roll and merely punch in how many die to roll. The hits are shown and the defender allocated the casualties, placing them behind the casualty line. It’s exactly how the oob game was designed to function. This is the single biggest advantage to the VASSAL version. It’s built around the column rolling game engine.
They also have an interactive scanned copy of the IPC tracker with tech tree attached.
The map and pieces are original looking scans. They even use roundels to mark captured territory as in the original. All in all, the VASSAL version definitely captures more of the original feel and play style.
AAA has its advantages though, don’t get me wrong. It’s just missing the column rolling engine.
From Page 12: "On the United Kingdom’s turn, land units and supply tokens in the Suez Canal convoy sea zone advance to Cairo, while sea units there advance to sea zone 31.
You must also move your air units in your convoy sea zones up to 2 spaces to land in friendly-controlled territories (possibly including the convoy’s destination port). Any that cannot land are immediately destroyed."
What are the options for UK fighters and bombers in the Suez Canal convoy zone during this phase? Are they confined to dropping into SZ31 (if a carrier is present) or Cairo? Or can they land 2 spaces from the Suez Canal zone? Any clarification would be much appreciated.

@Martin @elche @dawgoneit @Ragnell804
Thanks Martin. Lots of fun. I am in the middle of my game with Elche and will make a few comments once we are finished. =)
I have windows. An opponent has Mac. Hes having trouble opening my files. Is this a mac problem? If so is there a fix?
Two week until the Axis and Allies Tournament at Strategicon in LA! Register here: https://www.strategicon.net/ Here is a video with more info:
@TheJuggernaut “Russia Restricted” is not the only rule necessary to de-bug the classic, 2nd edition…IMO (as per the videos).
“Russia Restricted” is just the most obvious.
@Vital-Signs yeah they should work - i think you should be happy with the result. I will remove the board lines and crop and send them back to you. need about a month or so, maybe two with the holidays. I will post as soon as one is finished and then the other as soon as it is finished.
oh my and of course, @DoManMacgee
That’s nine warm bodies without trying to advertise. How many are in the G40 league?
Come and fight! A tournament for Guadalcanal will be held at the Strategicon gaming convention on February 17th in Los Angeles. All skill levels welcome. This tournament is sponsored by Historical Board Gaming and axisandallies.org. It will be well attended with seasoned players of the game so come get good with friendly opponents who not only play but teach best practices. You will leave a better player and lean to crush your friends before Renegade re-releases it. Here is the link: https://www.strategicon.net/#
Please share this post with anyone you know who may be interested!
@TheJuggernaut They’re the same setup. And to your point about Japan taking India on the first turn I would reference you to my British strategic video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtoh0UtsuQc&t=1006s
starting around minute 16, I explain that (in my opinion) the best way to industrialize India is to pull out on B1. At any rate, if you don’t use the optional rule “no new industries”, Allies can reliably win the game.
@Vital-Signs I have made some but not much. I use the free download program gimp and the clone tool in that program. thats about it. otherwise, give me another month and I might have conquest of the empire done.
Bottom line up front: Is anyone in this thread willing to run a classic tournament for 2025?
That is my question. I can’t do it. I run strategicon three times a year (face to face AnA tournaments in LA), youtube channel, just had a kid, and ever present full time job of course. I can’t do it but I have a fleet of committed players if someone can - including myself. I can support of course with rules clarifications and balance recommendations, optional rules configurations, etc
But I personally cannot run a classic 2025 tournament. Can anyone reading this do it or would they be interested?
@barnee sometimes I hear that the onboard version provided by TripleA of 1914 doesn’t work. So I recommend downloading this version of 1914: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6l8ni5rzkruakro/world_war_i_1914.zip/file
Instructions for download/use: You have to move the unzipped map to the downloadedMaps folder in the folder where you installed Triplea. Reboot the game and look for 1914.
@djensen @gerard4 Thanks for coming out fellas. And congrats to Dave on taking 1st Place. See you all in May!
