@VictoryFirst said in L25 Classic VictoryFirst (Axis+3) vs. The_Good_Captain (Allies):

For the sake of clarity, we play with:

      • Russia Restricted
      • Tech from turn 4
      • No Industrial Complexes
      • No invasion of neutrals
      • Can place units in enemy sea zones.

I feel the game is balanced with the optional rules listed and requires no bid, yes

I have windows. An opponent has Mac. Hes having trouble opening my files. Is this a mac problem? If so is there a fix?

@TheJuggernaut “Russia Restricted” is not the only rule necessary to de-bug the classic, 2nd edition…IMO (as per the videos).

“Russia Restricted” is just the most obvious.

@imperious-leader much appreciated but I do my own scans. Guadalcanal is up. I’ve got two maps for Xeno and the first will be complete in a few days.

Hi Lee, posting the start of my Japanese turn here. I spend all my money on tech and was lucky enough to get 5 hits, however 4 techs are activated, I wonder why that is.

@The_Good_Captain I thought when rolling for which tech you get, if you roll the same number you get to roll again? So should I be getting 5 techs here or is the 4 correct?

That’s correct. Roll it off here on the forum is my suggestion. And whoa! That’s crazy! But that’s what its there for… the big “Hail Mary”.

@TheJuggernaut They’re the same setup. And to your point about Japan taking India on the first turn I would reference you to my British strategic video here:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtoh0UtsuQc&t=1006s

starting around minute 16, I explain that (in my opinion) the best way to industrialize India is to pull out on B1. At any rate, if you don’t use the optional rule “no new industries”, Allies can reliably win the game.

    • RE: "East & West" by Imp Games - Discussion

      @RogerCooper @VictoryFirst is a good reference.

East and West absolutely deserves its own TripleA and can vouch that if created will get a respectable amount of play.

Let me know if you run into any snags. @VictoryFirst can probably help answer technical questions.

    • RE: Invitational Classic 2nd edition

Bottom line up front: Is anyone in this thread willing to run a classic tournament for 2025?

That is my question. I can’t do it. I run strategicon three times a year (face to face AnA tournaments in LA), youtube channel, just had a kid, and ever present full time job of course. I can’t do it but I have a fleet of committed players if someone can - including myself. I can support of course with rules clarifications and balance recommendations, optional rules configurations, etc

But I personally cannot run a classic 2025 tournament. Can anyone reading this do it or would they be interested?

@VictoryFirst without looking at the game - if you can limp to the next turn and roll again - your odds of securing the HB just went WAY up.

    • RE: Map not working on TripleA. [1914]

@barnee sometimes I hear that the onboard version provided by TripleA of 1914 doesn’t work. So I recommend downloading this version of 1914: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6l8ni5rzkruakro/world_war_i_1914.zip/file

Instructions for download/use: You have to move the unzipped map to the downloadedMaps folder in the folder where you installed Triplea. Reboot the game and look for 1914.

@barnee In this version of Axis and Allies, tanks that fought in combat can move out of the territory during the noncombat movement phase if they have movement remaining, just like a fighter. They can also stay in the territory they just fought in.

      @midnight_reaper

Thanks for pointing out the link error, I have it fixed now.

“In defense of” is the title of the series of videos. As for point number one, its addressed in the first minute of the video.

(…and yes, that was intentionally troll ;) )

Good to hear from you Reaper.

@RogerCooper said in "East & West" by Imp Games - Discussion:

@barnee I will use an option on the defense strength of tanks, with a default of 3. I have started working on this for a bit every day. Right now I am adapting everything to the Big_World map. When that is done I will create a custom map for East & West.

For completeness, there are two tank types: the tank attacks at three and defends at two. The heavy tank attacks at four and defends at three. The soviets start out with access to both tank types.

    • RE: Invitational Classic 2nd edition

I feel strongly that the baseline game should use 2nd Edition rules configured with these optional rules:

Restricted attack (out of box rule)
Neutrals out of play (house rule)
Tech available on and after turn 4 (house rule)

Restricted attack is to prevent a catastrophic material imbalance that favors the allies. Neutrals out of play is to remove “Spanish Harlem”. Tech available on turn 4 is to prevent the USA tech spamming heavy bombers starting on the first turn AND ALSO to decrease the rate of games that go into 20+ turns.

As for bracketing, while I agree with @DoManMacgee, I feel strongly @gamerman01 should have full power to organize as he sees fit since he is assuming the burden of running the show.

@gamerman01 I have tied in with all of the gentlemen in the list. We are ready on your mark.
