The Attack! naval units are way too small. I use the subs as mini subs and the destroyers as coastal defense boats. The battleships are about the length of some A&A destroyers but wider. The aircraft carriers are about the same length and width as A&A destroyers. The Attack! carriers don’t even work as escort carriers. They have tiny bumps representing planes on them so you’ll never get an A&A plane to stay in place on the deck for long.

Otherwise spot on with everything else I’m aware of. Oh yeah. The Attack! red is close enough to work with the red Japanese units IMHO.

Unfortunately the site and my computer are not getting along this morning. Otherwise I would post a direct link and credit the designer. I stumbled on them doing a google search for control markers. They are AAM objective markers.

I like. I’m going to the site after saying this. The Germans shouldn’t have superior tanks. They didn’t. They just used them properly. The only way I can think of to simulate the difficulties the French soldiers faced would be a week long meth binge for the French player. At that point the average individual would have reached 10% of the level of ineptitude displayed by the French high command. Continuing the binge beyond a week is unhealthy though so we will just have to settle for the 10% effect.

Hitler would have attacked the France regardless. He didn’t want a two front war at that point. France was an easier target than the USSR. He wanted to knock the French out of the race before they could join it. The difference would have been France may not have been on a war footing when Hitler attacked. Then he would have just steamrolled the French instead of facing that highly organized and professionally orchestrated defense he didn’t face.

Sorry. My sarcasm is showing again. I hate incompetent generals. They kill more men than the good ones.

To the original question. If Chamberlan could have been hit by blue ice and removed then the English may when have stood up for the Czechs. France would have followed suit IMHO. A BEF force on the continent moving east with the French would have been a good thing. Before Hitler could have mines laid some naval action off the German coast would have been a real eye opener for Hitler. He always thought little of naval power early on.

So here’s my dream scenario. Hitler is making slow progress against the Czechs since bliztkrieg actions against a determined foe in mountains don’t look like what we saw in France. The Czechs did have a well trained and equipped military that was not as laden with idiots as the French high command. The Brits sail in force into the Baltic Sea, announce they are at war with Germany, and flatten some ports and naval installations. Damage done by the branch Hitler thought the least of for some reason. Finally the Allied push from the west. I’m pretty sure at that point in time this would have led to Hitler’s overthrow by the Generals.

Now to ponder the impact on Italy and Japan.

I have spring 42 2nd ed. I’m thinking about getting a copy of the 2009 version. My question is for those who have both copys. If you had 2nd ed, but not the 1st ed, would you still get the 1st ed? If I don’t get this I have something else in mind. Just trying to weigh my options. Thanks for any and all input.

Never got a refund from the dev. Got one from Google just now. Here are my issues. Fighters that can only move 3 spaces over water. When I need that fourth movement to get the fighter to a carrier it compounds the problem. Subs shooting down my planes. My planes not being able to engage subs. Not being able to submerge my subs. AI’s planes landing in just captured territory. With all these problems I didn’t even want to try playing someone else. I just wanted a refund. I feel like I paid to try someone’s beta.

It’s one of the games I could take to work when I was working with troubled teens. Not too much for my numbnuts’. I kind of like it with the you can’t be sure whats coming mechanic.

I still can’t bring myself to buy a Risk game. I’ll stick with my Battles of Westeros I guess.

When enemy subs are shooting down my planes it kinda makes me feel like my planes should be able to shoot at the subs. AI lands planes in just captured territory. I’m barred from moving my carriers to positions to recover my fighters. I’ve never seen anything this screwed up.

It’s an A&A 1941 knock off. Units disappear, freezes and crashes, AI is the worst I’ve yet seen, AI makes illegal moves, and you’re barred from some legal moves. All for the low price of $2.99. I’m still waiting for my refund.

It goes like this. Have a war for a few years, play Acquire for a few decades, then have another war. The time of course is relative and scale down for the game. Each game should take just over a month.

I’ve been looking for ways to speed up games. Most people don’t have the time or interest for holding a marathon. This seems to be a way to get a game of Classic settled quickly.

By the time people thought to use their equipment properly the ground was too torn up and covered with barbed wire to use cavalry for break throughs. Early on maybe there was a chance for cavalry to be used in a break through role. Something like using a rolling barrage with infantry closely following. Like everyone had figured out to do by the end of the war. If a breach was made in the enemy line maybe then cavalry could have poured through to attempt a drive into the enemy rear. I’m not sure how sustainable that would be though. Possibly once past the breach the cavalry could have turned and began envelopments of the enemy force. Better yet that could be done with mounted infantry.
