    • RE: J1–>Alaska; J3 Game Over.

      @Tragedy:

      • I understand the concept of defending with Infantry…When u have 60ish some odd points to spend on U.S. 2 and u can only produce 10 units, suggesting all infantry is obviously inefficient. As Stoney229 said its apples and oranges.

      I didn’t mean that the U.S. should buy 10 inf. I was just talking about general defensive tactics. And I will also take a look at this strategy (I really hope that it doesn’t work b/c that would honestly ruin the game). And What on earth are you guys talking about with these forum games? How do you play them? I would really like to show off my strategic brilliance once in a while.  :wink:

    • RE: Kamikazes for Japan, what for Germany???

      I don’t think any of these ideas will be in the game (although I would definitely enjoy having them). But if we’re on the subject, I think that the Atomic Bomb should be a research or something. And not just for the U.S. b/c other countries were doing things with nuclear fission as well (I think). But it should be like a special research (expensive or something) so that usually only the U.S. will be able to afford the endeavor. Thoughts?

    • RE: J1–>Alaska; J3 Game Over.

      I’m not going to go look at my board and calculate odds and replay the whole thing (too lazy and have hw). But I can assure you that this should never happen. If you’re really fighting for you life, fighters suck at defending. Infantry dominate. 10 ipcs. 1 fighter. defense of 4 and 1 life. or 9 ipcs. 3 infantry. Defense of 6 (total) and 3 lives. There is no comparison. If you stretch that out over 50 ipcs, the difference on defense is enormous. This should never be tried against anyone who understands the bare basics of calculations in the game.

    • RE: USA allowed to take over the DEI ?

      @Krieghund:

      The US may only take control of Dutch territories by recapturing them from Japan.

      Wait, I thought that the U.S. only has to be at war with Japan for them to take the DEI, not that they could only take them from Japan. So if it’s like round 10 and the dutch still control all of the DEI (in theory) the U.S. still can’t take them over even though they’re at war?

    • RE: Do you want europe NAs like in AAR??

      As long as it doesn’t ruin the game balance. I always thought that the allies having 18 NAs and the axis having 12 in the revised edition was a bit unfair. So I made it so that each of the allies only got 4.

    • RE: Do you want canada as a power

      Not as a separate power, but almost definitely a division within the U.K. My bet is that it at least has equal status in the global game to ANZAC. And also, if Canada has it’s own markers, you can bet that it will have its own pieces as well. You can’t have one w/o the other. Any ideas on what color they might be?

    • RE: Kamikazes for Japan, what for Germany???

      Taking that “Hitler Youth” thing a step further, what would really be awesome (in some future game, obviously not in aa40) would be a kind of “population limit thing” where the total amount of units you could have in play at a time would be limited based on the territories you had, or something like that. Thoughts? Does anyone think that the game will ever evolve to be that advanced?

      I’m pretty sure that the battle ship has to fight the destroyer. Like 99.625%  :wink:

      What is everyone’s thoughts on a national objective for Russia to hold Vladivostok in Amur?

      I just got mine too! And all 6 tactical bombers were in perfect condition! :-D The battle strip was bent, but who cares about that?

      That’s how it was in the real war though. Everyone was at war with the axis.

    • RE: Do you want canada as a power

      @Brain:

      It would definitely give the Axis and added edge.

      Ummm… Don’t think so. Last time I checked, the Allies won the war. So the allies have a big advantage. Adding Canada as a power could just be one of the ways to tone down that advantage. That’s not saying that I want to have Canada as a power or not (although ideally, I would prefer Canada and ANZAC as separate powers with special rules enabling them to coordinate attacks with the U.K.). So instead of artificially inflating the axis (like the B.S economy that Japan has and the unhistorical advantages that Germany and Italy will undoubtably have, you could just divide up the allies, making coordination harder (which actually does kind of make sense). Adding Canada as a power definitely won’t give the Axis an “added edge” b/c the game makers will realize this disadvantage and adjust the Axis accordingly (or not adjust them if you really think about it).

    • RE: Kamikazes in China's turn

      So just to clarify, say the U.K and the U.S. both already have ships in a kamikaze sz, and on the U.S’s turn they move more ships into that zone. Can Japan only target the ships that moved into that zone, or can they target any american ship in that zone, or can they target any ship in that zone (including the U.K.'s)?

      Yea, but Japan can’t scramble against an amphibious assault against Korea, can it?

    • RE: 2 quick rules questions

      cool, thanks. And I knew that the U.S. technically wouldn’t earn any money with the Western U.S. taken, but I was really referring to the Global game where the Western U.S. wouldn’t be the capital.

    • New Combat Dice

      Does anyone know if new combat dice will be released following the 1940 edition? I’ve seen the set with the original 5 powers, plus china and italy, but I think it would be cool if a new set was released, including Canada, ANZAC, France. Thoughts?

    • RE: Japan declaring war question

      I completely agree. You can’t become a master at this game, or any strategy game unless you consider every possible option at your disposal. This means that you must know where your limits are. There can be no gray area, or anything about "that’s not what the game designers intended’. It must be clear cut, black and white, and official.

    • 2 quick rules questions

      I just have two quick questions about the game. The first: Hypothetically of course (as it will never happen unless the U.S. just has no brain) If Japan takes the western U.S., I know that Japan will only gain 10 more ipcs… but will America loose 10 or 50? Basically, is the +40 bonus attached to the territory or not? It seems like it’s not, but i just can’t imagine America still earning like 50 w/o the western U.S.

      and 2nd… Do kamikaze attacks count as combat? I ask this for the purpose of bombardment. Basically, could Japan kamikaze an allied fleet during an amphibious assault by one of the allies and prevent that fleet from bombarding to support their assault?

    • RE: WOTC listened

      So what exactly do we have to do to get these 6 tactical bombers? Call their customer service? Or just straight out mail them the incorrect battle board with a note? I just found out about this, and am eagerly waiting this remedy to the game. It kind of reminds me of Axis and Allies Europe when there weren’t enough infantry for the setup, except then i could just borrow from revised (which i can’t exactly do now).
