    • RE: Attacking Ussr as Germany

We got this to work in one of our games, but it was using OOB rules. You know, way, way back. Italy got in on the action too; had them scoop up West Indies and Mexico, and used them to harass Central America and Eastern America to pave the way for Germans coming down out of Canada. Once the Japanese airforce got a foothold in Alaska, it didn’t go well for the US. I should note however that the US player did not see this coming, and was staging to counter Sealion, which left the Pacific a little open.

got a good point man. either way, if you stage properly in the Atlantic and the Allies hold Gibraltar, America can do some crazy damage in Europe, and quickly. make an opening for Russia and they won’t need transports to roll over Europe.

I wouldn’t say kill Germany entirely first, but you can stage a decent fleet near New Brunswick (I actually brought my Pacific fleet over for this) and get ready to either a) liberate Britain, if Sealion actually works (I’ve had to do so before, and we still went on to win the game) or b) capture/hold/stage at Gibraltar, from which you can land in most  western European territories, or North Africa. If Britain and/or Russia are on the ropes, it only takes one or two turns of American interference to give them considerable breathing room, and as long as you reinforce Hawaii with some planes the Japanese will be slowed down; they won’t reach their victory city goal by the time America drives into the Pacific. Not to mention, the USA can grab a few key territories to add to its already impressive production, and pave the way for Russia and Britain to sweep Europe (which would allow them to divert more of their strength towards the Pacific).

I know that the Pacific seems like a better shot “if Russia and Britain play their countries right”, but they don’t always, and I’ve seen some big battles blown by chance. It’s easier to harass and slow down the Japanese naval conquest than it is to battle wave after wave of Panzers when the Germans are bearing down on one front.

    • RE: Transport clarification

Right. But what about when the transport doesn’t need to move? Is there a reason that British troops can’t load and unload off of a transport on the same turn if the transports don’t need to move (‘Bridging’ from England to Normandy, for instance)

    • Transport clarification

We got in a bit of an argument during our last game, and I promised to go to the forums to get clear answers.

      1. Let’s say that as America, I unload some troops into Normandy and have my transports parked in the English Channel. Can the British on their turn right after mine load troops onto those transports?

      2. If Britain loads American transports, can they offload on the same turn if the transports are adjacent to two territories? (such as, the English Channel)

I got a lot of static for trying both of these maneuvers, but the rulebook seemed to be clear on my ability to do both of these things. Just looking for some official confirmation.
