Here is a map of landing forces and Japanese defences for Iwo Jima

If you think this should be stickied vote so we can get it stickied and make it easier to find even when all the threads are further away
I am creating my own AAX (Axis and allies express) based on the battle of El Alamein
I have the starting locations

But am wondering whether or not to make it a hexagonal game like BotB or a territory game.
Ideas would be useful
I thought you’d know alot about the N. Africa campaign considering your name is Desert Fox (the nick name for Field Marshal Erwin Rommel the man in charge of this campaign and the german forces in normandy)
Its Dessert and I do know some but there are many people who know more than me. I have had a look at it and my main problem is hexagons. where to put them? But for that I should start a thread about the map and game.
Ok here are my ideas for a historic rule set
DF’s Commander rules
Historical:
Powers start with:
Germany: 3 (2 Land, 1 Air)
US: 3 (1 land, 1 Air, 1Naval)
Japan: 3 (2 Naval, 1 Air)
UK Eu:3 (1 land, 1 air, 1 Naval)
Uk P:1 (1 Land)
Anzac: 1 (1 Land)
France: 1 (Free)
China: 2 (1 Communist, 1 Nationalist)
Italy: 1 (1 Naval, 1 Land)
USSR: 3 (3 Land)
Maybe edited due to historic leaders not being the type listed
Rules
Every nation starts with what is stated in a territory where they would have been.
Excluding Soviets
The Soviets gain 1 commander every turn until the end of turn three
Each leader has a special unit type i.e. Rommels Afrika Korps which is with them at all time
Ideas
German
Rommel Land
Afrika Korps Armour att 4 def 3 Rommel often attacked when faced with enemy resistance hoping to suprise the enemy so they couldn’t attack his vulnerable flanks
Early Rommel
Passive power (Used in every battle)
Ghost Division
Due to the fast moving advances Rommel’s Panzer’s were often out of Radio Contact
In the first round of every battle involving Rommel and at least one German tank per tank roll one dice hitting at 1. For every hit one tank is able to fire a suprise shot against an enemy hitting at 3 or less (if firing in this round not allowed to fire in normal combat round)
Active power (Used once)
Attack on Lille
General Hoth placed the 5th panzer division under Rommel’s command for the assualt on Lille
Place a armour unit on the battle board for free attacking at normal stats and destroyed at the end of the turn.
Becomes Middle Rommel on G2 if in a North African territory or G3 in any other
More ideas to come
I plan to make a express game of this could I have some help with troop locations, numbers.
Thanks
Maybe not torbruk but something like the battle of el amlamein. I will post once decided
I have a question about these “Express” games. Are they going to be tactical level games like the A&A Miniatures type games? Or are they more along the lines of A&A Battle of the Bulge, Guadalcanal and D-Day?
It depends on which mini game your talking about. Most will be like D-Day,Guadalcanal,and Battle of the Buldge. We dont currently know if there will be any tactical ones.
I plan on making a game based on Torbruk If I have time to do so.
Thanks for doing this Fox. Also make not that even though the China Campaigns topic is in my name Spartan is working on that game.
Ok edited it
That’s the other problem. I have to write a dice roller plugin.
@Cmdr:
Oh yea, I forgot that one, I so second! Dicey has to function!
Excuse my ignorance if this is not possible couldn’t you use most of the code from this dicey and only edit the parts relating to the vanilla forums site?
So these games are easier to find I will post the link and the map battle:
Battle of Greece by Spartan Soldier:http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=21679.0
East African camp by Croesus:http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22122.0

Axis and Allies Express series (this is to tell you about upcoming games and who is going to make them)http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22181.0
As more threads are created I will update this
or even better a stickied thread with links to all the treads. Actually I will make it.
Maybe there should be a child board set up for this so that it is easier to find all the maps.
Ok here is a combination of what has been said and what I think. Some ideas are my own and some are others
DF’s Commander rules
Basic:
Powers start with:
Germany: 3 (2 Land, 1 Air)
US: 3 (1 land, 1 Air, 1Naval)
Japan: 3 (2 Naval, 1 Air)
UK Eu:3 (1 land, 1 air, 1 Naval)
Uk P:1 (1 Land)
Anzac: 1 (1 Land)
France: 0
China: 0
Italy: 1 (1 Naval, 1 Land)
USSR: 3 (3 Land)
Rules:
Each type has special rules
Basic rules are:
Land Rules:
Each General/Commander gives 1 hit(on attack and defence) for every 2 units of a type (max 1 hit per unit type)
I.E.
2 Tanks, 8 Inf, 3 art, 1 Mech
One hit for 8 inf, 1 for 2 Tank, 1 for 3 art and 0 for 1 mech. Receives 3 free hits
Movement: 1 with infantry and artillery, 2 with tanks, mech, 3 with FMG trucks
Naval Rules:
Adds 1 attack/defence value for the ship he is in:
Admiral is allowed on any ship
Add 1 attack/defence value for another ship if a 1 is rolled
I.E.
Admiral in BB gives BB attack/defence of 5
Other ships 2 CV, 3 tran, DD
Player rolls 2,3,1,4,1,1
So depending on the Order given
I.E.
CV roll 1
CV roll 2
DD roll 3
Tran roll 4
Etc.
DD gets 3 attack/defence value
Tran #2 gets 1 att/def value
tran #3 gets 1 att/def value
Air rules:
Squadron commander flys in any kind of plane. If in Bmr in Sbmr raid adds 1 to any roll/ If in ftr in scramble (for G40) adds 1 def value/ Increases att value of 1 plane by 1 for every 3 planes in battle.
Historical rules coming soon
@Cmdr:
No one heard of the Kill America First strategy in AAR and 2nd Ed. until I did it to people on a regular basis…who’s to say a strike on ANZAC to neutralize them early would not pay off? At the very least, it’s worth the surprise factor! (Which is how I invented my flavor of Kill America First…)
What is your version of the KAF jen? Mine is posted in the article submissions forum under: Revised Japan KAF (or Kill America First)
@Funcioneta2:
The AA50-41 sign-up thread is up.
We are also planning on doing a G40 tourney, but that will come later in the year.
Unless that Larry decides about the everchanging alpha, you could be forced to use OOB!
Anyway, I think that G40 is best suited for 2 vs 2 or even 3 vs 3, because it can be very tiring play 1 vs 1
I think we should use OOB because Alpha has to many changes and with a new version coming out every second week. G40 singles is a bad Idea and I agree with Func that it should be 2 v 2. Not 3 v 3 because that means 1 layer has to be Italy and it is an in between power not major or minor
Most of the crimes… (there were technical terms for the charges but I don’t have them handy)
“Waging agressive war”
“Waging war in enemy uniforms”
“Using corporate slave labour”
“Killing innocent civilians + torture”Were also committed by the allies, and some were even occurring during the trial. No Soviet or western brass ever saw a courtroom.
Hence - where there is no universal statute of everyone being equal before the law. Then there is no law.
It would have been better to forgoe the trials (Due to the way they were run) and let street justice prevail. The same thuggery applied.
I agree
The soviets had their own concentration camp see:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulag:
-No trial
The Western Allies bombed many cities including the infamous bombing of dresden see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Dresden_in_World_War_II:
The bombing of Dresden was one of the many occasions (including hamburg and Pforzheim)managed to achieve the “firestorm” which meant that the German fire fighters would be unable to control the flames. This was the same tactic that the Germans attempted to do during the Blitz but when the attacked london for 76 nights in a row but it was on the 29th of december (Help needed) that they attacked london and attempted to create a “firestorm” that the British firefighters would be unable to control
Keep the in-house dice roll system and otherwise do as you wish (but keep the dicey )
Yes keep the dicey thats one of the most important parts
