      @crsluggo Hi crsluggo,

When British Commandos are supported by artillery in an attack, they attack at “3” - and the artillery at “2” as usual.

After the attack, any surviving Commandos operate under regular infantry rules - but they are still Commandos.

So, during any future attack they (again) attack at “3” - when supported by artillery. Otherwise they attack at “1” as regular infantry - even though they are Commandos.

In other words; the artillery unit is the key.

The same rule applies to US Marines.

Please note: German Waffen-SS infantry units have similar qualities when supported by Waffen-SS Artillery.

      @crsluggo

Thanks, we have tons of fun playing with the Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E, House Rules Expansion.

It’s impressive to see how dedicated all our play groups are to these rules.

The feedback we receive is of high value to us - and inspires when new house rules are molded and prepared for play testing.

      Thanks for your comment:+1:

This is an example of how to form a German Waffen-SS Army.

      In this example it is the 1st Waffen-SS Army which includes 1 Waffen-SS Infantry unit + 1 Waffen-SS Panzergrenadier unit + 1 Waffen-SS Panzer unit + 1 Waffen-SS Oberst-Gruppenführer unit.

The formation of a Waffen-SS Army can have multiple variations.

Any type of Waffen-SS unit can be part of a Waffen-SS Army - even Waffen-SS Paratrooper units.

A Waffen-SS Army consists of 3 Waffen-SS units + 1 Waffen-SS Oberst-Gruppenführer unit. (All unit profiles are explained in detail in Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E, House Rules Expansion).

The Waffen-SS Army contains 4 units - as mentioned above - but since these units are now combined into an Army, the total dice rolls for this Army is 6 in each round of combat for as long as the Waffen-SS Army is intact (no combat losses).

This is an example of a German Panzer Army (1st. Panzer Army). To display the Panzer General Unit, we use a Tiger I. The other 5 panzer units in the Panzer Army are Panther tanks.

The German Panzer Army is identical to a US Tank Army, Soviet Tank Army and UK Tank Army.

The combat strength of a Panzer Army (or Tank Army) is 10 dice rolls in each round of combat - for as long as the Panzer Army is intact (no combat losses).

Detailed information about a Panzer Army is available in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E House Rules Expansion.

Here is an example of the formation of a Soviet Army Corps, for use with Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E: House Rules Expansion.

A Soviet Army Corps consists of 3 land based combat units + 1 Soviet Commissar unit.

The Soviet Army Corps is placed next to the game board - at the Army Board - and a marker that refers to this Army is placed in the territory where the Soviet Army Corp is present.

In this way, the units within the Soviet Army Corps is easily distinguished from other units in that territory.

Also, when moving - either during Combat Movement or Non-Combat Movement - you only have to move the marker - and thereby you save time and avoids mixing with other units.Soviet Army Corps.JPG

@the-captain said in Axis & Allies Global 1940 2nd. House Rules Expansion:

…Some players in our play groups have used online TripleA since september 2020.

We have created a House Rules Basic Expansion - and I believe these rules are implemented in TripleA online. …

Would you ask them to post the file ? I couldn’t find it on map DLs. I’m reading through everything again and while edit will be required for some of the rules, I think it can get close to 90-95%. Maybe 80% edit free.

At any rate, I’m gonna take a crack at it.

      Re: [Painted pieces](Expansion rules)

      Hi,

      Thanks for all comments.

We started painting the game pieces simply to get a better overview during the intense battles that take place - especially when playing G40.

Our aircraft carriers are mounted with a magnetic tape on the flight deck, as are all fighter and fighter bomber units at the center of the undercarriage.

All panzer units, armored units, trucks (scale 1:285) and some fighters and bombers (scale 1:600) are made of pewter. This makes the casting extremly detailed.

Some infantry units such as the Waffen-SS Obersturmbanführer unit and
Waffen-SS Fallschirmjäger unit are from various producers (scale 1:72).

We have our next A&A Global 1940 Tournament in mid April 2020 - lasting for three days. This is the last tournament in the season October 2019 - April 2020. Next season starts up in October 2020.

We are inspired by the Live TV streaming that some of you use. If possible we will try to copy this procedure.

Otherwise we will take pictures of each round. This should give an impression of how to use the Expansion rules - especially the major battles that include the use of entire panzer armies, Soviet Army Corps, Waffen-SS Armies, paratroopers and other hard hitting elite units.

We can recommend that you try to use the Expansion rules - step by step.

We will of course answer any questions concerning rules, use of units and eventually over all strategies.

The famous battles and plans of WWII are great fun to re-construct - as are the options to change the course of History.

      Excample with G40:
During our last tournament the Germans had planned Operation Typhoon. As the German units on The Eastern Front fought their way through the heavily defended Soviet positions, the way to Moscow was marked by scorched earth tactics as the Soviets destroyed their factories in Leningrad and Ukraine.
In round Early 1943 the German Frontline units were dug in outside Moscow - leaving the Russians no chance of pushing back the enemy.
Moscow was heavily defended with elite Guard infantry units, Soviet Army Corps and two complete Tank Armies.
The Germans launched a few minor offensives in the area to try and encircle Moscow - but the Russians managed to keep a corridor open to the east so the retreating Soviet forces from Siberia could enter and reinforce the defence of the Soviet Capital.

It was impressive to watch the entire Eastern Front with all the Waffen-SS units, Panzer Armies and Wehrmacht units opposing the massive and stubborn Soviet defences.

All I can say is: try it !
