I will look at your event and let you know about coming.

The last time The Captain was defeated was by Dark Knight in March 2020 playing the Axis.

In Late 1942, a Japanese Naval Task Force with 7 Transport units, 2 Destroyers & 1 Cruiser unit in Sea Zone 36 was attacked in wawes in this order by:

5 US Fighter units from Philippines (all US Fighter units were eliminated with the loss of 2 Japanese destroyers ) 1 UK Cruiser, 1 Destroyer, 1 Fighter (all UK units were eliminated with the loss of 1 Japanese Cruiser and 4 Transports) 1 ANZAC Destroyer + 1 Cruiser + 2 Fighter units (only 2 ANZAC Fighters survived with the loss of the remaining 3 Japanese Transports)

The Japanese offensive operations in the Pacific was halted and the Japanese units in China were cut off from any reinforcements until Early 1944.

This was the chance that the Allies had waited for - and an Allied Economic Victory was achieved in Late 1944.

The Fighter Ace & Luftwaffe Ace IPC cost is 11 IPC for each unit.

There was a flaw in the IPC cost in the original text in the rules.

This has now been corrected and updated in the rules attached to the first post in this thread.

@the-captain exactly. It’s good to have your goals ( strategic ) and then be opportunistic ( tactical ) in trying to achieve them. Unfortunately, for me anyway :) , I can get side tracked sometimes with the opportunistic part lol.

I have to remind myself of my goals. Usually during Purchase is a good time for that lol

Yea, triplea is an excellent tool. Playing FtF is best, but those that don’t have a group or the time/space and even if they do, it’s nice to have. Probably has promoted the game more than “almost” anything else :)

According to the developement of the Tournament Rules, what we’ve experienced so far is that the time needed to finish the game isn’t the most important factor.

What is most important is that players are challenged on a massive scale - and have the utmost fun while playing.

We can also see this tendency on TripleA - some games have lastet for long periods of time.

When new players join in on the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion we advice them to play only when they are not busy.
Actually, playing Axis & Allies is a method to get away from a busy every-day life - even if it is only for shorter periods of time.

Take your time - and enjoy the ride.

To develope a shorter game though - and a way to learn the game mechanisms in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion, we’ll keep play testing the Tournament Rules.

The Tournament Rules are also designed to ultimately replace the Axis & Allies Global 1940 Basic Expansion.
This will also inculde new Winning Conditions.

@the-captain Oh damn! I never read the book, but I did see the HBO flick with Rutgar Hauer in the mid 90s hehe. It had a good set up in the intro, playing the film reels, but with an alternative narration. Failed D-Day as the premise right? And then everything going to hell after. Seems like a potentially interesting scenario. Like that one and the Man in the High Castle both work a similar “what if” angle. I always thought A&A in 1942 was a bit like ‘what if Japan had won at Midway’, cause like Charlton Heston and Henry Fonda couldn’t get the job done, and that explains why Japan is all Globe trotting in the endgame lol. That would be like my head cannon to explain what’s happening on J1 in 1942.2.

For a PvP game you never really get the chance to see it unfold, but in SP vs the AI in tripleA, the endgame of virtually every WW2 map can go like Alexa Davalos straight through the portal into Invasion USA lol. Like that boardgame Amerika right, but with a Global map instead of just North America I guess? Seems like it could be cool!

Yea - those Expansions brought tons of fun & challenge.

Since then, we have developed the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion - inspired by and based on those Expansions.
