      Total War:

      1. We don’t see Soviet Air Builds outside Moscow very often
      2. UK: only in London is it it possible to mass produce Total War builds
      3. Germany doesn’t have an IC in Romania in game setup…
      4. In some cases it would be necessary to upgrade an IC to Heavy Industry to be able to place the Total War builds.
      5. Heavy Industry upgrade is only possible by the original owner of the IC - and only IC that exists from game start.

      Rules Clarification: US National Guard.

The rules have been clarified, to avoid confusion in terms of Japans move “…or has taken other agressive steps that bring USA into the War…”

This sentence has been replaced: see attached file.

The rule now reflects it’s original intention: to activate the US National Guard if Japan takes any agressive steps that would threaten any US interests.

      OKay, great.

If Germany takes over Italy, and makes a Heavy Industry 1 Unit upgrade to the Rome IC, the Germans can place 4 units in Rome.

If Germany wants to place more than 4 units at the Rome IC, an upgrade to Major IC must be made. In that case, Germany can also upgrade the Major IC to Heavy Industry 2 Units.

Only 1 Army from the same side or Nation can be active in each tty - and get the extra bonus rolls.

It doesn’t matter if this Army is part of an Army Group or not.

If multiple Armies (whether or not they are part of Army Groups) from the same side or Nation are present in the same tty during defense, still only 1 Army gets the bonus rolls in that tty.

      Hi barnee,

When converting the AAG40HRE to TripleA, the following must be corrected:

      Home Defense:

The rule says that the first time an amphibious assault takes place against UK or Japan, infantry units and fighter units have an increased defense factor during the first round of combat.

This must be changed, so the UK and Japan players each can decide on their own, when they want to activate the Home Defense rule. It doesn’t necessarily has to be during the first enemy amphibious assault…

      Thanks

      Hi barnee,

Germany can create a total of 3 Panzer Armies and 4 Waffen-SS Armies. So, when these Armies are combined into Army Groups the maximum number of German Army Groups is 3.

And yes, USSR can create a maximum of 2 Army Groups - and USA only 1 Army Group.

      Looks great,

When did Germany take over Italy?

All Italian tty should become grey (German controlled) when the Take Over happends.

      Great work:+1:

    • RE: How many players from the 80s and 90s have we here?

      @thrasher1

In the 80s in Denmark we mostly played Stratego (by Jumbo games - and later Milton Bradley version) and a game called “Matador” - similar to Monopoly. Of course, chess was popular also.

Later came RISK. Most players I know started playing RISK before Axis & Allies - as did I.

A friend of mine has a game store in Copenhagen - he took it over from his father. Axis & Allies was the most sold strategy game in the early 90s. To this day, the game is still very popular:+1:

Since the days back in mid-1940s - where a 2.000 man strong voluntary unit called (translated) Free Corps Denmark fought on the Eastern Front alongside the Germans - there has always been an interest in WWII here in Denmark.

Today our Western Coastline is still littered with German bunkers from WWII - part of The Atlantic Wall. The most famous one is the Tirpitz Bunker (supposed to be housing the naval guns from the battleship), which is now open as a museum.

      Hi Witt,

Since 1988 a friend of mine (here in Denmark) had the Classic version on the shelf - but I didn’t start playing until 1993. Today, it’s hard to imagine that it took 5 years before we really started playing. Well, serving in the Army really brought the game to my attention, since the game of course was popular among soldiers.

So, in 2 years from now, we will celebrate 30 years anniversary of Axis & Allies. We are now only 3 players left from that 1993 group. Fortunately, new players have joined our play groups over the years:+1:

      @magnum

      Hi magnum,

How many games did you play with this rule - only 1?

Your rule is interesting as it reflects Historical aspects - and I assume that it brings a change in Strategic Planning for UK, Germany - and most likely the Soviet Union as well.

We have play tested similar U-Boat vs. Destroyer rules which also included Air Units - and Escorts - for AA50 (using the Axis & Allies AA50 House Rules Expansion).

It brought fun and challenge on a massive scale :relaxed:

      Hi barnee,

SGT Pitbull upgraded an Infantry unit to Waffen-SS Infantry - and at the same time was able to place an Elite Infantry in the Purchase & Repair Units phase…

Upgrade to Waffen-SS takes place during the Purchase & Repair Units phase in the beginning of the turn - whereas placement of newly purchased units takes place in the Place New Units phase at the end of the turn…

My YouTube video hasn’t been released yet - it’ll be ready by the end of this summer.

      So, it’s probably another Captain’s video :ok_hand:

As a former Army Officer (Captain) I understand your concern about making video on YouTube etc.

We discussed our YouTube Video options in our Axis & Allies Veteran Players Group - and since most of us are former soldiers we agreed to go ahead no matter what.

I hope that you’ll post pictures of your game board etc. Many players in this forum have posted great pictures - it’s all very inspiring:+1:

      Hi barnee,

ESC eliminates enemy submarines First Strike - and also blocks enemy submarines movement.

ESC operates under destroyer rules with the exceptions mentioned on pg.29-30. So, yes - ESC can also inflict Convoy Damage on same terms as destroyers.:+1:

      Hi Steve,

      Welcome to the Forum.

You should definitely post pictures of your game board and units.

Go to “Customizations” and make a “New Topic”.

Since you play Global 1940, I suggest you check out the thread “Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion” - released 20th April 2021 under “House Rules”.

We also work on a version of these rules for use with TripleA - more about that later.

If you’re looking for fun & challenge - you definitely came to the right place:+1:

      @barnee

Strategic Bombing is rarely used - especially when an IC is defended by a superior number of friendly fighter units.

Most players upgrade to Underground Factory when an IC is close to the frontline - as well as conquered IC. This brings the opportunity to destroy the IC if an enemy is anticipated to conquer/liberate that territory.

The Underground Factory rule as well as the Air-To-Air Combat Over Target Area rule both contributes to a game that is more based on Strategic Planning in terms of building up unit formations used for regular combat.

If a Major IC is captured by enemy forces (and then replaced by a Minor IC according to the original G40 rulebook) - the enemy cannot upgrade to Heavy Industry. Only the original owner of the IC can upgrade.

If the original owner liberates this IC, this player can upgrade the IC to Heavy Industry.

What are the winning conditions for:

      1. The Axis
      2. The Allies

Does the Soviet Union ever get knocked out?
