    • RE: Global 1943 Expansion, Revised

      @barnee

From game start - Early 1943 - multiple options are available for both the Axis as well as the Allies. Some options are obvious - as for example the need for German reorganization of troops on the Eastern Front to prevent a total collapse of the exposed northern and southern flanks.

As the Setup Charts show, Germany is in a position to form
3 Army Groups within 2 rounds of play. With these Army Group formations, the Eastern Front should be stabilized - and a steady flow of reinforcements should pave the way for a renewed offensive in the east.

Basically, most Nations need to maneuver their units into more advantageous positions, before striking enemy positions.

Players will have access to all their Nations specialized units within a few rounds of play.

These units might just be what is needed to get the upper hand.

Tons of challenge & fun is guaranteed:+1:

When you get to Global 1943 setup, you’ll also see the Armies spread out from north to south on the Eastern Front.

The Germans are in a position to form Army Groups North, Center and South in just 2 rounds.

Basically, this is what the Germans should always try to achieve (not only in Global 1943 Expansion) - beginning with planning and execution already from Early 1940.

      Remember;

Only 1 Tank Army can be active in each territory.

If you have 2 Tank Armies in the same territory - no matter if they are part of an Army Group or not - only 1 Tank Army is active. The total number of dice rolls for these 2 Tank Armies would be 16 (10 dice for the Tank Army that is active - and 6 dice for the second Tank Army).

This is the case both during attack and defense.

      That sounds great:relaxed:

When playing FTF, as game experience improves, you’ll need to use the rulebook less frequently.

The Timetable is sufficient to keep track of when units and rules come into play.

Our experience shows, that already after 2-3 games, most units & rules are easily remembered - even for new players who are not yet familiar with the use of expansion rules.

Surely, the Global 1940 Basic Expansion will inspire players.

We have great succes when training new players, using the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.
Most players are ready to go all in (step-by-step) with Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion after 3-4 games.

The feed back we recieve is that the rules are easy to learn and remember.

And then again: once you’ve played with the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion there is no going back.

      Hi barnee,

I realize that the increased IPC values in The Pacific can cause some technical difficulties concerning TripleA.

Most importantly, the increased IPC values have no effect when Convoy Disruption occurs. The loss of IPC is according to the original IPC value.

      Thanks for your comment:+1:

As you’ll discover, when reading your way through the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion (Section V, page 52), German Volkssturm units can be activated when Germany’s IPC level is 21 or less. Certain rules concerning Volkssturm units distances these units from any other unit in the game.

The Army Board: Reichshauptstadt Berlin Defence Area is used in conjunction with the Volkssturm units.

Soviet Red Army Conscription is part of counter balancing the mass of German Waffen-SS Armies, Panzer Grenadiers, Panzer Armies etc. that will storm towards Soviet positions and strongholds along the entire Eastern Front.

      @barnee
There are 3 differences in the rules & units included in Basic Expansion vs. Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion

      1. The Waffen-SS infantry unit costs 2 IPC in the Basic Expansion. This cost is reduced to 1 IPC in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion, due to the multiple Waffen-SS units that come into play.

      2. Red Army Conscription: In the Basic Expansion USSR can produce a maximum of 12 infantry units each at a cost of 2 IPC, whereas this number is increased to 26 infantry units in the
Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion

      3. Advanced Production Capacity: Only 4 Nations recieve extra IPC in the Basic Expansion. The Advanced Production Capacity (amount of IPC and units) is increased significantly and granted to several more Nations in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.

    • Global 1943 Expansion, Revised

This is the release of the Axis & Allies Global 1943 House Rules Expansion Revised Edition.

Note: The following Rulebook and pictures show the Revised Set Up.

1943 was the year, when Germany finally implemented the Total War concept. The Axis Powers still had options to alter the outcome of the War - not by outproducing the Allies - but by taking advantage of every single advantageous opportunity. And by planning a decisive and superior strategy - without any flaws. And carry it out with determination.

In the game there is no bureaucracy - no internal conflicts in any Nation, that could weaken the War effort. Every single decision is made with one goal only - to win the War.

The game depends solely on what strategy players might choose - and how these strategies are carried out.

It is truly a big challenge for the Axis to win the War. And there is no room for errors… or else, Germany & Japan will have to fight for their lives.

You’ll experience massive Panzer Armies and Army Groups from the very beginning of the game. Within a few rounds, some of the most famous combat units of World War II are available to the players. This will bring even more options to get your Nation closer to Final Victory.

      Concerning the Global 1943 Setup:

Soviet 1st Army Group is comprised of:

      • 1st Tank Army
      • 3rd Soviet Army Corps
      • 10 Infantry units

Soviet 2nd Army Group is comprised of:

      • 2nd Tank Army
      • 2nd Soviet Army Corps
      • 5 Artillery units
      • 5 Infantry units

The Soviet Army Group Markers replace the Army Group Flags.

      Note 1:
Soviet Army Group Markers are named:

      • 1st Army Group
      • 2nd Army Group

      Note 2:
      Additional Set Up:
The German player must place a Flak Tower unit in Germany before game start.

      Printing Error:

We have discovered 3 printing errors in the Japanese Set Up:

      1. Hainan is not mentioned in the Japanese Set Up. Hainan must have an IPC value of “1” - and a Japanese control marker.

      2. Palau Island does not need a Japanese control marker… the number (1) described in the column should be placed in the column for the IPC value instead. Palau Island must have an IPC Value Marker at “1”.

      3. Kiangsi is not mentioned in the Japanese Set Up. Kiangsi is Japanese controlled from game start (Early 1943).

We naturally apporlogize for those shortcomings.

The Axis & Allies Global 1943 House Rules Expansion will definitely bring tons of fun and challenge - even though the game is playable in a few hours.

Please refer to the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion for overall unit profiles, unit costs etc.

Any Nation - even if not at War - can destroy a facility that this Nation controls from the start of that turn.

To destroy a factory/industrial complex, it must be converted to an Underground Factory on a previous turn - and it must also be controlled from the start of the turn where it is destroyed.

The Soviet Union has - as the only Nation - the option to destroy any of its industrial complexes any time during the game.

This is described in detail at page 21 :+1:

      Hi Chaplain,

      Thanks for your comment:+1:

The Battle of The Atlantic gets a new dimension, when Germany produces U-boats in increased numbers - and use the Wolf Pack tactic.

In this way, Germany can actually push their Western Line of Defense into the Atlantic Ocean - and at the same time pose a threat to Allied shipping and Convoys. This is definitely an option that the German player should consider during strategic planning.

Looking forward to hear about your game:relaxed:

      @kiwi

      Hi kiwi,

We also played Classic in late 80s and all through the 90s. We also bought the cd computer version - mostly used for training new players.

In 2004 Axis & Allies Revised Edition came out - and we automatically started playing this version. I believe this version is still played - and besides an updated map version and a few new unit profiles, the game mechanismes are the same as in Classic.

We no longer play any of these versions - since the Axis & Allies Global 1940 came out.

You can use the Player Locator at this forum to search for players near you - if any.

I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for. One thing is for sure - at this forum you’ll find tons of fun & challenge:relaxed:
