If Guad played like Variable’s Midway game, It would be my favorite one for sure……as long as the Dice Box goes in the recycling bin.

The original pacific by far was more fun and balanced (if you used 23 VC’s as Japan win).

Pacific 1940 is distorted because it was designed to be combined with Europe 1940, hence Japan is overpowered (to compensate for America having more money in Global).

The permanent marker definitely helps, but I would be too nervous about ruining the board to try it.

You could cover the board map with a thin sheet of acetate and draw the lines on the acetate.  No damage to the board that way.  If you goof up a line, you just erase it with some rubbing alcohol (which dissolves “permanent” marker ink) and re-draw it.

I saw a lot of Vichy/free french rules on this forum over the years.
There was some good idea but no rules represented the real situation of Vichy/free french in WWII.
It’s easier to make a simple rule than an historical rule.

PS: Has anyone actually destroyed one of these buggers while on a transport?

I have seen AA guns intentionally destroyed in this fashion to keep them from falling into enemy hands

I’ve got the russian sub into Pacific waters before, along the way talking so much trash that Japanese waste resources trying to sink the ship.

      Imperious LeaderI

Transports move very slowly. They are prey to subs and planes. They don’t escape unless the enemy runs out of bullets.

I think you don’t like them as fodder in combat, but its insane to bring them in combat only to lose them deliberately and keep your warships perfectly undamaged.

This is a big change that i have always welcomed and wanted for years before.

      no.

it seems like no one is answering the threads question.

japan initial purchases are transports, then subs and destroyers to keep usa back. they have enough tacs already
china they can not purchase tacs
uk needs to buy ground units
anzac needs to buy cheap naval units
usa is the only country that i would even consider a tac purchase. then give my head a shake and realize that i need more important units.
