      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      If Japan attacks USSR turn 1, does that bring Germany and USSR into war?

      No.

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      If Japan attacks USA turn 1, and Germany/Italy did not attack the USSR turn 1, can USA land planes in USSR turn 1?

      No, because the USSR is not at war with anyone.

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      I don’t think the UK can spare the IPCs, but…

      Can UK build a minor IC in W. India, use European theater monies to build land units there, and then walk them east to slow Japan?

      If so, this might be a viable strategy to hold off Japan until the cavalry come.

      Yes you can build a minor IC in West India with London’s money and send them to East India.

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      I think your first situation is correct but I’m having a hard time understanding the benefit of the second situation, unless I’m misreading it. If you are engaging in combat in the sea zone and the coastal territory (with the SZ the only access point to the territory), why wouldn’t you just bring the transport along with the naval attack to assist in capturing the territory?

      If the blocking ship was not on the coast (one sz out), you could kill him in combat and move transports in during non combat to off load them onto the  coastal tt you just took. Assuming that you indeed did take the coastal tt by other means.

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      So let me get this straight, in sea battles, you can kill an enemy blocker ship (destroyer) in the combat phase and move your fleet past that SZ into the next SZ in the non-combat phase assuming that none of your fleet is engaging in a combat move. Is this correct? If so this really changes things for me in Pacific…

      Yes that is what I was referring to. You can kill the enemies ships in combat (using just a few ships or planes even). Then in noncombat move into the cleared sz (1st move) with your ships that where not involved in the battle. Then (2nd move) to the coast to off load your transports on to the coastal tt you also took during combat. Of coarse the 2nd sz could not be hostel. You can also do this to join two of you fleets together. It doesn’t come up to often, but in P40 it could be useful to both the allies or Japan (especially when you consider NB).

      @Frontovik:

      why does defending fighter gets advantages? they already got their AA guns

      Defending fighters get the advantage because attacking fighters get to concentrate on the target, while defending fighters have to spread out to cover every possible target.  If you both have 6 fighters, but the defender has to cover two ICs, the the best the defender can do is put three on each, which will match the 6 fighters that the attacker can bring to bear on either.

      Of course, then Italy went and bought an aircraft carrier in the final turn, just because he could …

      It works, except i like to setup for a push at ukraine instead of a counter-attack at Karelia, let the UK retake Kar, this will give you a huge unit advantage in the south as almost off of G’s units are destroyed in Kar on the UK counter-attack and you will have a stack of 10+ in ukraine waiting to take your 2nd NO.  This is also a fun time to take US/UK figs and land them in ukraine to backup your russians and if G put most of it’s tanks, as it usually will to kill 11 inf, in Kar you dont even have to worry about a can opener from italy and can place 4 more armor in Cauc for the turn 3 hit of Romania and even a fig in Moscow if you desire.  If they don’t take the bait simply move the Kar stack into Belorussia on turn 3 as you move into Ukraine while placing previously stated armor and let the UK drop its 4+ units into Kar.  Then G is really in a pickle.  :-D
