      I’m glad I never got into AA50. I figured I’d wait a year or two and see what is out there. AA50 isn’t really even for sale anymore.

      AA42 will most likely be what people play for the next decade. But just like the original, many will still play AAR for years to come.

      You can find good AAR strategies and opponents at GTO, www.gametableonline.com. The site is always improving and should even have a save game option in the next month or so. It already has a facebook version that uses a save game system, http://apps.facebook.com/axisandallies/.

      It doesn’t have a full bidding system in place, but it does have preselectable options for bids. It has about 10 at the moment and should have about 50 in a couple weeks at the latest.

      Hey I also use the facebook app for axis and allies. Because its the only place I can really get a game and is alot easier to set-up  :wink:

      Hi Iv’e only played a few times, but I build 1 in India to help america. So I can sen more transports to help land on pacific Islands and to help the americans with keeping china, and russia with the east. I only do this If i have enough $$$ to do so. Also I build subs and other things to attack Jap sea units.

      This strategy has worked 2/2 times so far (only put another Ic for uk that many times) im  gonna try it again in this game.

      Sadly it backfires if they take india (japan) then you could get screwed (happened to my opponent when I was Axis.

      Operation: Market Garden


      Background
      September 17,1944. In an Allied Attempt to get into Germany the allies made the largest Airborne Operation in History. Sadly It ended in faliure. It consisted of the American 101st and 82d Airborne Divisions the British 1st Airborne division with the Polish 1st IPB and the Dutch Resistance. The objective was to secure many bridges in the Netherlands and Germany.

      Choosing Sides and building armies
      Roll 2D6 the higher # is German 59th ID the lower is the 101st Airborne.
      Armies are bought in platoons
      Army sizes 175 (101) and 125 (59)

      The map used needs to include a road, a bridge and the town of Son.
      The 101st must drop on the opposite side of the bridge 6 hexed from the edge.
      The 59th ID can start in the, bridge or 7 hexes from the edge of the map.
      The recon unit is deployed 2 hexes from the 101st

      Objetives
      The 101st wins if they take the bridge and at least 1 group of city hexes.
      The germans win if they blow the bridge with there Pioneers.(pioneers deploy on their edge of the map on turn 6)
      The 59th ID wins if they keep the 101st from complete their objectives.

    • Rough Breakdown

      I did a rough breakdown of what a unit costs in box of 9. I was suprised. If all were the same they would be $1.11. but I knew Commons and uncommons and rares dont have the same value. This was done quickly (roughly).
      I figured that you get in a box of nine(9) you get: 5 common, 3 uncommon and 1 rare.

      The price I came up with (which could be made in to a percent for trades ;) to make it easier) are as follows
      Common $.68
      Uncommon $1.20
      Rare $2.00

      Wait ill get a percentage breakdown (for trade like points :IE a common is worth so many rares .000005) not really but here
      Common:0.34 of rare or 6 commons = 1 rare 0.56 of an uncommon so 2 common = 1 uncommon
      Uncommon: .60 so less than 2 uncommon = 1 Rare and for common has been done
      Rare all has been done.
      WOW on paper …CComuper! Its much diffrent than I thought.
      At first for anything i thought 2 common=1 uncommon (true) and 4 common or 2 uncommon=1 rare. This estimate was close though.

      I allways saw it as 4 common,2 un common and 1 rare= 7 but for the other to my cousins have always debated over the other 2… not as what they were but WHAT they wer(fot the pyramid)
      They said that u could trade up for 2 rares with 1 common/uncommon (1 of each)
      but I said trade up for rares and other cards you dont have for cards you have extras of.

      EXTRAS DO COME IN HANDY!

      OH AND AN IMPORTANT NOTE: just because its common or uncommon,etc isnt true 4 u because There are many commons i need but uncommons ill have like 3 of.

      JUST THOUGHT id add my 2c so if you want to post your breakdowns then please due so.

      P.S my cousin I plan on buying these from won’t check the work or probably won’t even notice… but im going to try and buy them from him at:
      Common $0.50
      Uncommon $1
      Rare $1.25

      Of course certain units ill pay more or less for (like mausers I have 4 of but Mosin/Nagants I have 0 of) clearly will make a diffrence.

    • Heavy weapons

      Hi all I was wondering how u all felt about heavy weapons. An Adjacent unit to a dead unit can pick up a heavy weapon. IE u need more firepower for ur task force/squad, so u see a Mg42 and kill the operatoe and an M1 Riflemen picks it up. Say during causualties if some unit dies near ur units w/ a heavy weapon roll a 5or a 6 to pick up (for time and being able to find it after word0 DOES ANYONE Want to comment?

      I like the basic look of what you’re doing here and applaud the campaign plan.  For my Canadian heritage I might follow a Canadian unit through the Italian Campaign.

      Unfortuanately, I’m unable to play any games until late May as my job has me half a world away from my playing pieces.

      I’ll give these a try this summer.

      Thanks for making my points for me. People should strive for better things. Also, I feel most of your posts are nearly always responding to the same people with your own “disagreements”. As for me i don’t like mediocrity and thats not a negative trait, but a positive commitment to do better things. I have heard your own case of generalization that i am negative toward ‘everything’ which i find somewhat amusing. Its also a funny that your always complaining about anything that’s posted which is contrary to your own belief to the point where you keep attacking it, and you have hijacked your own thread with constant questions and reposts. A positive person as you claim you are would just let an opinion fly because thats why we are here to discuss ideas and they may not all be to your liking, so stop attacking me and making accusations. I have not once ‘attacked’ your position that you find the comic book movies mentally stimulating, but have only defended against your and a few others jarbs.

      Ill leave this thread open, but if you continue to post more posts where you involve me or my opinion, ill have it closed because it was you that derailed it yet again. I am also tired of answering your comments.

      A great number of people could argue that activly participating on a forum for a board game would be childish yet here we are.

      Thats why i design them and not really play them, because i find it more interesting to help people who:

      1. cant make nifty maps and artwork but have a need for it
      2. help solve some of the problems of realism in these games and find new solutions
      3. Playing a game can be a mental struggle which does not ruin a good mind. Thats why i also play Chess and Poker… but i can never find anything with comics stimulating whatsoever.

      There is nothing wrong with comic books, The Watchmen, or people enjoying either.  There is, however, something the matter with you when you beat a topic to death, when no one asked or cared to know your opinion in the first place.

      I know it won’t change the fact that you will continue to be a judgmental hypocrit, but I’m done with it anyway so it doesn’t matter.

      I enjoyed the movie.  I’m glad you didn’t and wasted your money. Thanks for supporting movies you find inferior and that you weren’t going to see anyway.

      IL and I have had disagreements over the past 2 years but they have never involved politics.  I express my opinion and I learn something new when he expresses his.

      We can fish but……You can only catch a trout if you are lucky so…Not me I think from 9 years of fishing ive caught mabye 2 trout. The rest probably 14 junk fish.

      Well once…I dud somthing fun here. But that was kind of akward…I don’t think I should talk about it. I would probably get this topic messed up…Kinda like me!

      Looks like you need to hit the library for some books.  Obviously with the amount of army pieces you have so far you need to be creative.  I’d play any pieces I had to make it a bigger army.  Playing is better than being historically correct.

      Well it says once per game you can declare a speed boost and the results of the combat are resolved immediately. I have NO idea what this means.

      Im guessing that instead of staying on the whole turn;which alows for aa attacks. Im guessing it returns after the flight and airstrike phases.
