My house wasn’t built yet in the pick. So it looks like I live in a field. :) Nobody else near KC. How sad.

RE: People are disgusting.
? I don’t get what you get from this. I feel more sorry (if that’s possible) for the kid because he was hurt by his own people as well as the Nazi’s. I don’t feel any better about the Nazi’s. I don’t feel any better about pedophiles either. Evil is evil. Who commits it does nothing to reduce the crime or make it better or worse. Sadly, the truth is most child abuse is done by people close to you. People you know very well. People that are trusted enough to be alone with you. Anobymous crime on kids is the exception not the rule. Now that should give you real pause. I know it bothers me. I have 3 kids, all young. Knowing I can’t trust anyone makes the world a scary place indeed.

RE: USS Iowa to be Gay Museum. What next?
I agree that we need to be diverse. I agree in affirming the rights of minorities. What bugs me is this whole thing where we have to push one group or another historically. Whites are not better, we where just the ones calling the shots. That was wrong. It was evil. Bad bad bad bad bad. It does not change the fact that since we held the reigns of power we got to be the ones making advances in science etc. George Washington Carver sounds liek a great guy, but does the inventor of Peanut butter deserve the same amount of time as Alexander Graham Bell? <shrug>Note: I am very Pro Gay rights. I think they should be able to marry. I am for affirmative action. I just want history to resemble what actually happened.</shrug>

RE: USS Iowa to be Gay Museum. What next?
Not to be a dick or anything, but who cares? I guess being a straight, white, male I just can’t force myself to care. I feel the same abotu Broke back Mountain. I don’t hate it, I simply don’t care. I would not go outta my way to see a movie about cheating husbands if they where straight either, if that was the only draw. Make whoever happy. For me the front would be something to pass through on my way to see the ship. If I got annoyed it would be that I don’t like the idea of promoting ANY group. Minority or majority. Take history at face value. Teach it all. Don’t sugar coat or vilify. Morality is what churches are for.

RE: US Troops complain about Woodruff&Vogt coverage…
One could point out that coverage of our losses has been deemed as being defeatest. That they went bonkers when a photo of flag drapped coffins was leaked. If we are not giving our soldiers their due, I would blame the people that say we should not be sad because the losses don’t compare to what has been seen in other wars. Rush and his cohorts need to pick a side of this issue. You can’t have it both ways or you seem… less than honest.

RE: 'Playboy' playmate rounded up for deportation
Bah! Pretty is as pretty does. Besides, I get all my porn off the Internet. They got that whereever she’s from right? Send her home and post her hot butt on the Internet. That’s as close as I will, (or want to) get to her anyway. She does not need to live in the US to ply her wares.

RE: France : Homeless-sicle or Homelessicide?
I hope I did’t appear to be calous. Until recently I worked for a variety on nonprofits. Among them a homeless shelter. I have deep sympathy for these people. As a society it is our responsability to provide a home for them. And guys trust me, homeless shelters suck. The food sucks, the living conditions suck. We don’t give them much. But 3 semi squares and protection from the cold is not much to ask. As I stated before, 99%(Not a figure I can prove just my experience) of these people are not totally sane. If they had all their faculties they would never choose to live this way.

RE: Rape shield laws.
Not a lawyer, but you hear objections about relavance all the time. If it does not reflect on the case at hand it’s not suppose to matter. Course this is where Justice is not blind. It see’s shades of green above all else. OJ can get off dipped in blood, but a poor sod with no physical evidence gets the chair. Whoever can afford the best mouth piece wins, but that’s just the way it is. I still say our system is the best one going.

RE: France : Homeless-sicle or Homelessicide?
Homeless die everywhere when it’s cold. <shrug>Not to be heartless, but I don’t think this is possible to end. Some homeless would not accept shelter even if it was offered. A large portion of homeless being severly mentally ill.</shrug>

RE: Rape shield laws.
Ah, but she would still have to prove the accusation. Just saying it will hurt the man of course. What can I say? Personally I believe that many men get off with the same defence you just stated. A woman has a couple beers and she’s fair game? That does not sound fair to me either. This is why we have courts. To put people through so much crap that only the genuinly hurt will go to the trouble.

Lame… Least I know what to expect.

RE: Something for my pal CC (either #1 or #2)
Not sure I should even post on this. Having been away I can’t measure the amount of ill will between the two of you. Regardless, a post intended to do nothing but demean an opponent. One with no backing at all. Truly, this reflect poorly on the poster. It certainly does nothing to hurt CC’s reputation. Your should apologize. Not for CC, but for yourself.

RE: Morality
All morals are relative. Without a framework there is no right or wrong after all. For instance, I believe slavery is a terrible sin. I know however that it was a normal and accepted practise in history. For me to judge people out of context and declare anyone that ever owned a slave as evil would be short sighted. America would not exist IMO, without the contribution of some prominent slave owners for instance.
Now the interesting question is what should we do about immorality? Which side would you have been on in the civil war for instance? Would you have been willing to die for the rights of other men? If Jen is around we can revive the ancient argument about the causes of the civil war. :) Would you have fought for civil rights in the 50’s and 60’s? Moral absolutes are few and far between now. We have become a confused people. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? The United States is desperate for a hero. A good guy to follow. We are grasping at straws. We want at our core to be good. To fight evil. Sadly, evil is not as easy to spot anymore. Evil wears a suit. Evil tells us it’s on our side. Evil says what we want to hear. In the end, whats more evil? The man that twists us into evil or us for carrying out evil? For not seeing truth. I suppose it’s just who we are. History both ancient and current affairs are full of decent people committing horrible acts for scum bags. Anyway, of course morals are relative.

RE: Rape shield laws.
I think we do more than enough to protect the rights of the accused.

RE: Firearms anyone????
Hey guys. This is Lizardbaby, to those that might remember me. I sent an email to Dzrt asking him to reopen my account. To those that don’t remember me, I am an old guy with several kids.
I only own 1 gun atm. Remington 12 gauge shootgun. When my father dies my brother and I will split many guns that our family has collected through several wars and for hunting etc over the years. Our guns are a part of who my family is and has been over the years. I have no desire to loose them. On the other hand I believe in strong legislation to prevent miss use. <shrug>I got nothing to hide and nuthign to fear. Our guns are all legal and I know how to use them. I don’t mind proving either if it helps make us safer.</shrug>
