      I understand your annoyance with the US limitations, but they are IMHO a bit better than they were IRL. Remember that Pearl Harbor is “equal,” whereas IRL the Japs had massive levels of surprise. Also US and USSR are advantaged by the knowledge that EVENTUALLY they will be fighting the Axis.

      I haven’t gotten to the point where US NO’s are really tested, but I like them. A bit more “control your area” as opposed to “don’t let Japan take YOU over”

      The thing with US fighters is that they would be separate. If anything, do “Lend-Lease” where BRITAIN gets units in Britain.

      Interesting thoughts ATrain, as Russia I build 6 inf. (Ukraine/Leningrad) and the rest mech/tanks.

      Sometimes I’ll build arty, but I feel that inf. are a strong weapon for USSR.

      eh, dont want to talk the logic/realism of certain game mechanics, waste of time.

      I agree, if EVERYTHING was realistic, convoys would be represented by a ship, subs could hit them in the Atlantic, and they could land at any port.

      I tried something with Russia where they COULD move prior to Barbarossa but if Germany declares war Germany can run 2 combat moves in Russian territories in a row (reflecting the surprise of the attack). I’d make an exception for IC territories.

      As for the US, I think the following should be allowed: the Europe rules remain the same (as in 102 patrols only), but in Pacific the US can only move troops from Phillipines back to Hawaii, from Western US to Hawaii, and from Hawaii to Western US.

      As for building limits, I’m not sure how to go about it because then you get either a ridiculously rich US to counter any Axis moves, or a ridiculously tech’ed up US.

      I think a reasonable rule for Russia is until Germany attacks Russia the Siberian infantry must stay on a Pacific map.

      You can only move off US territories. Warships can go into SZ 102.

      I could be wrong, but I’d think the Japanese fleet would have a fighter in striking range at some point provided it is doing the India Crush.

      Even if they aren’t, they’ll probably see the transport moving around, and even if they don’t know where it’s going, they’ll probably crush it. Or, it’s really slowed down because it can’t end its move off of Japanese territory…and then Japan’s fleet (and there has to be SOMETHING around India) will get it.

      A great idea, but you’d need too much warship cover. The only way is to hope that Japan thinks it’s nothing and keep it under cover of US ships till it reaches the Phillipines, and then hand it over to British ships…

      “Home Islands”? Definition please.

      Sorry, probably should’ve made clear that I meant Japan. I called it the “Home Islands” because Japan is made up of more than 1 island–and more than 1 is shown on the board.
