Ah see, I like to do Barbarossa. In one game I got 2 techs, Advanced Arty G1 and Advanced Mech G2. Russia built all inf. and I forecasted having about 1/2 of my force left when I marched into Moscow, not counting builds.

RE: Ruling Question
OK thanks, guess I was wrong but we settled on the right decision!

RE: 94Canuck's Global 1940 Alpha +3 Setup Charts and Game Aids
So as of now these are the most updatedest?
As in, if I printed the Alpha+3 rules today and these today the NO’s and setup would match up?

RE: Rocket Technology
Rockets is one of the many techs I want as Germany. Unfortunately I only get 1 tech as Germany per game usually (and that’s G1).
The thing with rockets as Germany is you’re now able to hit Russian ICs with strats, which means fewer losses there.

RE: Italy
I think that UK has the advantages in the Mediterranean, and that Italy won’t have Egypt when the US comes in.
However, I have seen it all when it comes to rolls in the Med. I’ve seen all Italian naval units lost, save 1 transport, for 1 British destroyer lost.
I have also seen the reverse. So if Italy gets good rolls they can be a superpower. But if not, they’re in trouble. -
RE: Ruling Question
Another odd question:
So, I was mad at Russia for not retreating his Siberian stacks so I attacked him.
Russia believed that if he didn’t declare war on me (but didn’t retreat) and then on J1 I declared war, attacking the Mongolian territories J1 would’ve been attacking a strict neutral. Is that correct?

RE: France
Total noob. Not even trying for France? What did he do, hit Russia G1?

RE: Strict Barbarossa viable?
If you’re not going for Sealion, what good does SBRing London do?
What would UK build there?
Ships get placed in SZ 106, far away from German air + subs, and land forces that are sent against Italy are placed in either Saf or maybe an IC in the middle east.UK might place planes in London, but that’s once in a while.
If I were UK and Germany was keen on bombing me but not on Sealion, I’d just let him do it and lose planes to AA.It prevents UK from building up a fleet off of its own coast, forces them to repair damage if they want to use their naval base/airbase (especially key when it comes to scrambling), or IC’s. This, coupled with subs raiding convoys, will drag Britain down to nothing but what they can put up in Africa/the Mideast.

RE: US IPC Breakdown
The US was a mechanized force, and those mechs can be useful in N. Africa, but I do agree that the value of mech is much lower than in the real war.

RE: Strict Barbarossa viable?
I agree that SBR’s are key. I do SBR’s on Britain and by G2 they’re usually completely damaged. It does help if you get rockets G1…

RE: Barbarossa
Interesting that you guy with IC Rom.
I did in OOB, but with the major East Germany I like to base my attack out of there. That guides me north.
I put the force from Bul/Yugoslavia and whoever can get south in the south–Ukraine is easy to grab for reinforcements for that thing.I think the Pripet Marshes are one of the main reasons for my split force.

RE: US IPC Breakdown
Yes, we were 16th in the world directly behind Romania and Turkey.
We’ve definitely been put up so there’s no chance of a direct invasion of the US.

RE: Barbarossa
1. By round 1, I assume you mean round 1 of FIGHTING.
2. To get Leningrad in 1 round is unlikely…it seems like you’re underestimating Russia’s strength.
3. A blitz is really hard on Russia. -
RE: France
That sounds interesting. I’ve been trying to come up with some Vichy France rules…

RE: US IPC Breakdown
I agree with Spitfire38; IIRC hearing on a Pearl Harbor show that if Japan had landed in San Fran. we wouldn’t have been able to resist until they reached Chicago. So yeah, I think the US starts out with too large an army. Just IMHO.

RE: US IPC Breakdown
US taking the DEI? Umm…that seems unlikely by R7.

RE: France
I agree that France is always gone G1. But they’re not nothing–the Cruiser/DD in the Med draw Italians, and they have holdings in Africa that require Italian action.
So more of an annoyance. The one change I’d like to see is the addition of an Inf. and/or DD in French Indo-China.

RE: Barbarossa
I’m with the majority when I say Leningrad, but I’d also like a “Ukraine” option.
Anything besides Leningrad and Stalingrad is too deep, and while I like a frontal assault my main force goes to Leningrad with a secondary to Ukraine. I then use builds in Ukraine and the force that took Ukraine to grab Stalingrad while the Leningrad force is cleaning out all the 1 IPC territories and preparing to take Moscow. Once Stalingrad falls I like 1 turn of tank/mech builds there before I grab Moscow.

RE: Strict Barbarossa viable?
That’s true unless you park a sub up in 125…and that’s DEFINITELY a good investment.
As for the trade, you’ll be able to rush Leningrad really quickly and then Archangel falls without contest.
I see your point here @USS Nevada, but I think you can handle that.
