about the only think i can see, is if g1 fails to take anglo-egypt, you can choose to combine the fleets in sz30 and move the anglo fig to the carrier, this force will help take down some jap sea units if they attack, another option is to move the aussie tranny and sub toward s america

RE: UK Pacific Fleets
if the japan player attacks j1 there isnt a viable plan to salvage the uk pacific fleet

RE: Starting Germany off…
nix used a buy of 4 fig against me on the first round and then bought 1 fig a round through about g5, this was 10 fig parked in w europe was very effective until he screwed up and split the fig force between w europe and e europe, this allowed the british to attack western and destroy 5 of his figs, i have to wonder though how the game would have played out if he kept his figs in a group

RE: Making UK more exciting
i agree with switch, look in our games section, i dont think there has been 1 game in the current tourney where germany didnt take anglo-egypt on g1, now if ger doesnt even attack anglo we are talking a whole diff game
2 inf from tranny in india, 1 fig from india india fleet to the med, wow turns it into a whole diff ballgame, one which if played properly would spell doom for the germans in ohhh say uk6

-
RE: Axis or allies?
out of the box, no bids,
experienced players allies
beginners, axisthe reason is say this is early on the allies need to coordinate with each other, axis coordination needs to come much later in the game

RE: Initial Observations about Revised
darth, one of the biggest changes ive noticed in revised is the flexability of the uk player
ive played the uk well and got them up to 47 ipcs and ive played them poorly getting down to 18 ipcslot of variables here with uk
say g1 attack of anglo goes poorely
option is there to combine your sea fleet(with fig surviving in anglo) in sz30 and make japan think twice about hitting you on j1how bout an ic in anglo-egypt late in the game
japan controlls the pacific, buy an ic, next round put down 2 ac and fly in 4 figs, all of a sudden you have a force in sz34 -
RE: Initial Observations about Revised
yes the game still basically boils down to germany and russia……but it will always be this way because everyone else is an island nation
that said there are other variables to consider
all the ipcs waiting in the south pacific. us doesnt necessary abandon the pacific, especially if japan doesnt do a pearl on j1. i have successfully made manuvers in the south pacific with the us
japan gets greedy on j1. leaves china conquered with minimal forces. ive seen a us ic in sink work pretty well with heavy reinforcement from russia. us and russia going back to back can seriously set back japan
one strat that was interesting was a g1 purchase of 4 figs, then adding 1 fig every round thereafter, this absolutely gave the allies hell for 5 rounds until my opponent made the mistake of splitting his af between w europe and e europe. revised definately has more variables than classic
in a bid game, a g1 purchase of 1 ac and 2 trannies can really make the uk sweat in the early going
in revised ive seen japan fall, britian fall (even though only breifly) and the w usa conquered, never saw any of that in classic unless playing with a complete newbie

RE: Playing a game on saturday and need help with German Strategy.
my biggest problem with the axis, is i can never establish a force in africa, i usually take anglo-egypt with the usual force but for some reason the battle goes poorely for me, usually end up with only a tank surviving, then uk retakes on uk1, however this helps by leaving the india territory open for a big push around the middle east to caucasus
one thing i have learned round 1 is very very important, and my strategys adapt to what is happening in round 1
a good example
if j1 gets greedy and takes india and china first turn, i have built an ic on sink in us 1, japan was spread too thin in china, and the 2 units per turn have helped open up some options for russia, like right now we are sitting on turn 4 and russia has 4 inf in china, the back to back attacks against the same jap forces from usa and russia are working pretty well so far -
RE: Russian strategy, offensive tactics
i usually hit ukraine and w russia on r1, seems to be the best option, 1less fig for the germans can result in a weak germany if things dont go well on g1

RE: Germany Strategy concept…
its working against me, i keep hammering away as the us in africa, he always kills my fleet, im now trying to build for that big push>>>>>>we will see what happens, look at our game , it is def different. russia w 37 ipcs, germany w like 10 figs
