      You should impose a 15 turn maximum for each game, to prevent players from farming points to much.

      There should be national objectives which nets players points. However, anyone can get them, which makes for a king of the hill style game.

      E.G:
      +1 point to whichever player controls Berlin at the end of the game (If its contested, nobody gets it)
      +0.1 points for every IPC you collected during the final phase of the game
      +1 point whenever you conquer an enemy capital (one time only, for each player)
      -1 point when you suffer from economical/political collapse (one time only, for each player)
      Etc.

      I’m kind of worried Japan can take India on turn 3 still.  Limited India doesn’t seem like a good idea.  :-D  Oh crap are we talking 1914 or 1940?  Can’t tell because all the house rules are in the same forum.  :roll:

      EU3 started off a bit meh, but after the expansions it’s the best grand strategy game imo. I love to unify countries. I think in eU3 the most difficult one is Brandenburg>Prussia>Germany. You start off as a lesser partner in a personal union with Luxemburg and have to worsen relationship with them to have a chance of freeing yourself. Then you have to fight at least the Polish, Pommeranians and Teutonics to get your core provinces for forming Prussia.

      And apart from the wars and politics you also need to keep an eye on your technology, religion, trade, colonization, missions, etc. Trying to become Holy Emperor, get the favour of the pope, etc is great.

      And one thing i like about it is that it isn’t just a metter of throwing money at it to get your way. Getting bishops from your realm in the holy see is quite random, and money helps it just a little bit. Taking National Ideas that increase piety helps, but it is never certain. Same goes for votes to become emperor, etc.

      The tanks don’t really get rolling like you said until turns 7-9, but that is when you are going to need them. Our last game the CP won was around 16 turns, so got lots of use of the tanks.

      @Krieghund:

      Try using the same setup, but adding an NO for Japan that gives it 10 IPCs each turn that it’s not at war with any of the following powers: USA, UK/ANZAC, or France.  Have fun, and let us know how it goes!

      i will glad to see it in the next faq, because this “new” Japan is a bit weak. i think this new NO is a good point between historical accuracy and balancing. I hope that will be approved by LH.

      Any people close to Amsterdam? I live in Zaandam and have a couple of friends with whom I play A&A games. We can always use another player.

      @Yoper:

      We noticed the increased importance of the Norway territory last night- as it relates to the IC idea.  (And the twin NOs)

      I was already cognizant of its movement advantages as it concerns it being one territory.  An idea for it would be to split it into two territories- one in the south worth 2 IPCS and one to the north worth 1 IPC.  That way it is a longer path around the top to Karelia and it takes away the ability of the US/UK of building a major IC in Norway.

      I agree with the split. The distance from south to north Norway is the same as from south Italy to Denmark, and that distance is split in several spaces. But as the IC issue is conserned, I belive a population of less than 3 millions can easily establish a major IC and build 10 US tank divisions each turn. The fact that Germany start with a minor IC only reflect that the nazy moral was derogatory to the labour force, while we norvegians are superhumans.

      My G1 I like to clear the UK navy except for the BB and CA. I focus on killing destroyers so I have subs to hit the rest of the fleet G2. Leaving the BB is bait to encourage the carrier to head north to defend it. Sometimes the UK will kill its own fleet for me, by sending the BB against my BB fleet(bait) which lets my subs/air finish it off G2.

      I build a sub round 1 to make sure UK does not get the NO, and 6 Mech. Round 2, 1 sub to keep USSR from gettin NO sz 125 later plus all mech.

      Since I did not use all my air on the Navy, I take France more often than not, using 5 armor and everything next to it, minus 1 Mech to protect my bomber/air force landing in Belgium.

      I hit USSR round 2, and do a bee line(4 spaces from front lines, southern marsh route) straight for Moscow, picking up the others easily after a G6or7 capture of Moscow. I use almost all Mech builds first few rounds and my air power to make this happen. (I do not use a factory in Romania/Slovakia as that buys my first 12or30 mech) [You start out with 18 infantry, 3 armor and 5 artillery that can be in position for the G2 offensive, French armor catches up by G3 with the mech builds]

      [12 or 30 mech: refers to the number of infantry a forward factory represents vs the number of infantry I can turn into Mechs for 1 dollar more that was saved by not spending 12 or 30 IPCs on a factory. Later mechs will cost more then infantry, but I will have saved time and gained board position with the 4/7 Mechs that 12/30 represents. This is favored as I believe E40 is a race to 8 cities. I produce 6 mechs vs 8 USSR units on average, but tip the scales early enough with starting air and armor]

      @Krieghund:

      The FAQ has been updated with a clarification on New Hebrides.  It is treated in the same way as FIC.

      Makes sense for game purposes considering the way it is marked on the map board.  :-)

      [Although I think historically it was jointly administered with the UK… I think.]

      One other thing to keep in mind as well, Uk can move DD and Cruiser to SZs 37 & 42 to prevent a J2 capture of Sumatra, along with the deadzoning of Java that makes DEI dangerous to japan all game long.

      One other thing I noticed, if Japan controls all of asia and the Philippians, not counting and DEI territories, they only make 2 more income than the US.  With that in mind, I don’t think I would mind sacrificing India to give the allies a stronger hold in DEI with naval buys as UK.
