    • RE: Historical Entry Rules

      I still love these rules and am going to try them out as soon as I am back from my holidays.

      And the note did not trigger the war. It was at most an excuse people used to convince the anti-war politicians. But let’s not discuss this here as it doesn’t do justice to these well thought out rules!

      It’s a pity you can’t in the next couple of weeks. Been here a week now and am getting drawbacks… ;-)

      I am in Bromorough, the Wirral, for another three weeks, so if anyone does have time, that would be great.

    • RE: Need input on how cp can win, or is it just sheer luck if they do?

      With the OOB the centrals never won one game. With the tournament rules it is about 50/50. And the only house rule we use is impassable Switzerland.

      No, I’m Dutch, but my wife is from the Wirral, so I am over there plenty of times. From Thursday I will be there for almost four weeks.

      And surviving Italians are repaired in the same round. I have no idea why this would be a good strategy. Having my AH fleet bolstered by a sub every turn makes it so that others can’t move their navies away and when the French or whoever move their fleet away i immediatly attack the fleet that remains. And by the time Rome is conquered then the mines are gone and by that time my five subs can wreak havoc on all ships with no minefield to stop them after their first move out of the Adriatic.

      I see. I know transports can be handy for Germany. Forcing England to keep an eye on an invasion, invading Russia, invading Scandinavia and fast move your units. But still it seems like a too big of an investment that you just can’t spare.
      I hope you can get the time to write about it!

      TH, I would so love to see a game report from you. Not like every single inf moved around, but just globally, like G1 Holland taken, F1 Belgium reinforced, or whatever.
      Maybe its my limited imagination, but I an’t see how you can survive as Germany without going Russia or France. Sure you can take quite some IPC from Den and Hol etc, but still.

      @Texas:

      @Tavenier:

      Does taking Swe and Nor pays itself back?

      If you use 4 tanks, you will hardly have any losses, so yes. 8 IPCs per turn adds up pretty quick.

      But then only from round five and up at the earliest. And the investment in four trannies. And come round five few Germany players are having the luxury of using eight units ( at least) on something else then killing French and Russian troops.

      I think its for gameplay purposes. Certainly not historical ones. At that time they werent too sure what side Italy would pick, so they wouldnt leave their backdoor open.

      I’m glad the plus one from port is probably going to be standard. Thanks for advocating it, Kim!

      And the tanks aren’t damaged like battleships, but are completely intact. So every turn you attack ( not on defense) they can absorb one hit each.

    • India limited

      Today I played two games with my friends. We noticed that Britain often builds a lot on India, if not everything they have. I also think that happens a lot in all your games.
      We were thinking about a way to limit this without it being too little. I thought about limiting the production to the IPC value of 4. But this can be boosted by gaining Persia and Afhanistan to plus 2 and plus 1. So by having both those countries boosts your India production to seven. This way you dont start out with seven, but you have to work for it, so it gets bigger after one or two turns.

      In our games it worked great. The Turks dont get smashed from the start, so still have a fighting chance and have the luxury to not just be a punching back for unlimited British reinforcements, but can really operate in Africa, Southern Russia or ty and take out India.

      What do you think?

      I dont see a sealion period. If you have the luxury of trying it later in the game then you probably already have Paris and then ou should also have Rome or Moscow!

      My fleet is in a seazone containing an enemy minefield which it survived. Then the next turn my transport move out of this seazone, pick up troops from the bordering seazone and moves back into the same seazone, which still contains my other ships, to offload them. Do i have to face the minefield again?

    • RE: The UK beast

      Their isnt much the CP can do to stop Fance and Uk to become economic beasts. Try and survive with the African troops as long as possible. Build a sub with AH and Ger every turn so no transport can go undefended and pick up easy ipcs. And it makes the allies invest in their navy.

    • RE: Who Wins

      Today i seen my first CP win. I played them and a friend played the allies. He is an A&A veteran, but his firsttime with 1914.
      We played with the strategic movement, +1 move from port, impassable Switzerland and with the Revolution that the CP can accept of deny.

      The one mistake my opponent made was sending his French troops a move back when a large German force was in Belgium. Tis was at the same time i realized my Eastern troops werent enough to kill off Moscow. So with him withdrawing i could SM my troops to Belarus and take Moscow before the French could gain too much Deutsch lands.

      I think this was because of his inexperience with this version, so i guess that wont happen any time soon again. Otherwise it could just as well been another allied victory.
