      @Uncrustable:

If you were smart enough to read in context (few humans seem capable) then you would understand just who i was calling lazy.

If they are one in the same then that is not my fault and i do not rescind.

BTW Minor i think these aids look really great, i only was pointing out the irony of you releasing them the same time 3.9 was released.

Yes he was calling me lazy.

And I agree with his observation, although I did find the changes eventually then couldnt be bothered posting about them other than to say, finding them was a chore.  Nevertheless thanks for assisting me.

These changes shouldnt be buried on page 86 of some random thread :-/ They should be incluided in the summary if they have been deemed official.

    • RE: A plea!! Please help me play my favorite game.

Thanks for your replies, although i’ve tried most of the suggestions you have made except maybe changing the turn order.  I wasnt sure if any balance issues would result from changing the turn order.

I’m currently in the process of finding more people to play with but as someone mentioned, soap and water + random boardgaming enthusiasts are had to come by.  Sure I can hit up my local games workshop and ask there, but i’m repelled by hygene issues.

I was more thinking along the lines of a variant that ends the game after a predetermined number of turns and counts up victory points somehow.  Has anyone played to a certain number of victory cities?  Perhaps reducing this number will help.  But with a beast a large as this i’m worried changing rules will affect balance.

    • A plea!! Please help me play my favorite game.

      Hi there,

I’ve been away from the game and the boards on a long hiatus.

basically I have a major problem which is preventing me from playing the game.

I got into the game notlong ago when AA50 was released.  I got a few of my friends ‘into’ the game, for the first few sessions at least.

Because we were beginners at the game, sessions did trudge on a bit.  Some in the region of 8 hours.  Even my dad and my brother played a few games with me, but ended up hating the game because we played until 3am and still didnt finish.

Each game (probably because of our skill level) came down to a ‘germany buys ten tanks’ sludgefest.  Although, I did start to become a better player and was ending the game earlier.

Things started to look up, game time was getting shorter.  I decided to take the plunge and buy Europe and Pac 40 to play global.  Needless to say my playtime issue has once again reared its head.

Now, I am in a predicament.  Nobody will play the game anymore due to its huge time commitment.  I’m desperately seeking variants that reduce the game length or enforce a turn limit with victory points or something of that ilk a la twilight imperium.

If anyone could help me out here i’d be forever grateful.

      Yours faithfully.

      A frustrated general.

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1940 complete match in pictures

Hi there, great game!  I really enjoyed the way you presented it.  Perhaps you could put more games up in the future.  I like to see how games turn out in the end because we never get to finish ours :P

I have a few comments, not being nit picky but just FYI.

I noticed in slide 50, you attack a sub with a battleship.  This is an illegal move is it not?  As there is no destroyer present.

also in slide 65, consider the following rule change in A.2… quote…

      12. The United States Navy, while being neutral, has the following movement restrictions. It can only move to sea zones that are adjacent to US territories in the Atlantic (more specifically Sea zones 101, 89 and 64). US warships (not transports) may also conduct long range patrols into sea zone 102. In the Pacific it can only end naval movements in sea zones that are not adjacent to Japanese-controlled territories and islands.

This leads to a further move in slide 86 which would not have been possible until the following turn.  This may have given the axis and little more time to prepare for your invasion.  Which is needed IMO.

But good game non the less.  I enjoyed it.

WHats happened to the US NO of boosting income at war?  And what are the new starting incomes?  Are they the same?

If the US doesnt get its extra IPC’s, isnt it a huge nerf to the allies?

Also,  If german naval units are moving into the channel, and germany attacks uk navy, can planes scramble to assist from uk?

    • RE: Possible Changes from Larry

      @Funcioneta:

      Hypotetical case:

New USA’s NO: the Enterprise. If, being at war, USA holds Hawaii, Alaska, Midway and the Aleutians, USA gets the Enterprise for free! (one time NO). But wait, it’s 24th century’s USS Enterprise, with Jean L. Picard, Data, orbital bombardments, phasers, fancy high-tech weapons and even a DVD of the series! . In game terms, 24th century’s Enterprise is a 5/5 unit that repeat rolls, has 10 hits, is inmune to aa gun fire (and all other units must roll at 1s and repeat the succesfull rolls) and counts as land, sea and air unit, all in the same basket (it’s even a submarine, a trannie and a mayor IC)! You can deploy the Enterprise at any place in Pacific board, even in enemy, neutral or impassable territories. If any turn USA doesn’t buy any boats at the Pacific board, remove the Enterprise from the game forever

      Sad fact:

Even with that imaginary NO, many would still say that there is not much incentive to fight for the Pacific

With the game ending if Japan claim their victory cities, I think that would be incentive enough.:)

Your posting on a board game board for AA geeks and you tell us to go outside lol.
