    • RE: Simplified Rail: the land answer to air bases and shipyards

      @crusaderiv:

      _I know that is correct Marc but I wasn’t sure when that came about. I thought about that when I was buying my HBG markers. Personally If and when I begin implementing them, I may just fudge history a bit to get them into gameplay. Now I think I may need to do some research on world railway systems LOL.

      Tall Paul knows quite a bit about rails maybe he’ll chime in._

      ––Poof Here I am to save the Day! haha, just joking, TOTALLY.
      ----I’ve been following this discusion and there are good arguments on both sides of each issue. IMHO I’m not sure that the A&A-G40 map is “Tactical” enough to fully justify/implement the Railroad Rules. And of course by tactical I mean it might be lacking enough territories to implement the RR rules without upsetting the game balance.
      ––However,…I DO think this would be a very useful and interesting ruleset to be used in when playing HBG’s Global Warfare-1939 as it has several more territories.
      ––I also understand that most of us have played so many G-40 games we want to change/improve things to keep them from getting ‘stale’. To this I would respond developement of new strategies,…or a new map Global Warfare-1939.
      ––If there were any Railroad History questions I’d be more than happy to offer my knowledge(if any). I don’t know about a LOT of subjects,…but I do know a LOT about two subjects,…Railroad & Military History.

      @Tall:

      Guys,

      ––I believe the S.O.P. is for someone to send a PM to “IL” nominating them for the badge as “IL” is in charge of awarding the Customizer badges.

      ––I hereby nominate “Spitfire38”  and “jwo1984” for the CUSTOMIZER badge.

      Tall Paul

      @Imperious:

      Yea ill take a look.

      ––Thanks for your time, IL. I’ll leave it to you as I trust your judgement. All I can say is that these two are really good painting “customizers” and certainly inspire me as well as others. Thanks again.

      cwglee,

      @John:

      @cwglee:

      Hi All,
      Really hoping someone can help me out.
      If I purchase the map from HBG here: ‘historicalboardgaming.c0m/Global-War-1939_c_170.html’
      Am I getting the most up to date map/board?

      I own both Pac and Eur 1940  edition 2 games, what do I need in addition to the pieces from those games to play the 1939 game?
      If anyone could put together a list or direct me to an existing list that’d be wonderful!

      Thanks in advance for the help/guidance!

      You need the 1939 Global Supplement Pack for all the other countries that HBG sales. It is on their website. I would provide you link, but I’m not good at that sort of thing.

      It has all the pro allies, pro axis and neutral countries involved as well as the roundels, you need. :-)

      http://www.historicalboardgaming.com
      **––When you are on the Historical Board Gaming website,…look at the menus in the top, left margin and click on the one labelled “HBG Global War Exp. Sets”. At this moment the “Global Warfare Supplement Set” that you need is the only listing.
      ----You can also download (free) all of the “HBG CUSTOM MARKER RULES”. These will help you know everything you’ll possibly use in the game. I hope this helps. You will probably want to buy some of the “roundels” for the new UNITS and COUNTRIES available.
      ----The complete “Global Warfare-1939” Rules can be downloaded (free) from the Board Game Geek website. The Rules are presently undergoing another up-date which will be made available (free) here on A&A.Org.
      ----IMHO this “Global Warfare-1939” is the BEST varient and probably the FUTURE of Axis & Allies gaming.

      @coachofmany:

      Nice Collection!
      **––I also have some SHAPEWAYS G-5N “Liz” 4-engine Heavy Bombers to add to the mix,…once they’re painted that is. They look somewhat like a Japanese B-24 “Liberator”, just different. I’ll post a couple of pics below.

      cyanight & others,

      @cyanight:

      Excellent!  Love the canopy detail.
      **––I’m glad you liked them. These were the first aircraft that “Allworkandnoclay” painted for me,…and I noticed that the canopy lines weren’t as fine or sharp as the ones that “LHoffman” painted on the Luftwaffe aircraft he did. Well, he QUICKLY improved the cockpit frame lines on the following aircraft,…he said it was simply experience coming through but I think he just put his proffesional talent to work on it. I know he’s a lot more proud of his aircraft work since these were done,….and rightly so. “Allwork” is THE MAN!

      sp11kg and others,

      @sp111kg:

      Hmm. Nice. Would you want a simple air base piece as well? I have one that I designed for Seelowe, though Seelowe has been postponed. I would like to see it go to use though.
      ––Well, I’d VERY MUCH ENJOY seeing a pic of what you have made. I have already purchased 24 of the SHAPEWAYS Air Base that I plan on using. They have already been painted, but are awaiting some “dashed stripes” decals that we can apply to their runways,…see below for a pic.

      ––I hope this helps you. You can find many other “gems” if you only look through the scans.

      pfc_pander & others,

      @pfc_pander:

      Anyone have a suggestion where I can buy all 6 flags (British, USA, Germany, USSR, Italy, Japan) WWII era? I have spent an hour looking for a website that has all of them and I cant find one.  Really don’t want to pay multiple shipping.
      ––Well, From your question I can’t tell if you’re wanting decals or not,…but here is a link to I-94 Enterprises (Decals)

      http://www.i-94enterprises.com/products/decals-setting-solution/decal-scans/

      **––This will show you a scanned image of the exact decals available.

      ----BTW, you will want to use the 48-Star American flags rather than 50-Star flags as both are available. I’m posting a scan of the American flag decal sheet, assorted sizes (#US1191) as well as the large size flags (#1181) for you below.

    • RE: NEW UNIT….SHAPEWAYS Naval Shipyard for HBG's "Global Warfare 1939" game

      Guys,

      ––I spoke with “Allworkandnoclay” yesterday and he said these Shipyards from SHAPEWAYS should be finished being painted by next week-end.
      ––I had him STOP what he was working on and move these Shipyards to second priority,….immediately behind a “SURPRISE” that is now first priority and almost complete. These Shipyards should be a lot of “Eye Candy” as well as useful units in our Global Warfare-1939 games.

      Guys,

      @Spitfire38:

      That South Seas camo looks really great!
      ––Glad you like it. The scheme really does seem to add to the effect of
      “camo-clad jungle forces in the tropics”.

      Props to the men behind the scenes
      ––Well, I agree. And in this case it would be two main people.
      ----First off,…that would be HBG for making the wonderful units available to us all,…and
      ----“Allworkandnoclay” is responsible for 100% of the paint jobs on ALL of these Japanese aircraft units.
