      @DrLarsen:

      I would have to say that it will be very important to hit the color match as close to the bulls-eye as you can for the Frenchies

      “if you aren’t COMPLETE, you must be COMPATIBLE!”   :-D

      If the color doesn’t fit then you must flush it.  :lol:

      @DrLarsen:

      Yeah, I think we’re agreed here on the path forward; I’m just saying no use beating up TT over “spilt milk” so to speak.

      As he said before, the first project that can really take all our advice into account is his Frenchies, so I’m anxious to see how that’s coming along.

      So, TT have you done any air/naval yet for France?  I’ll be happy to send you some Panzerschiffe French ships with my compliments if it’ll help you advance the project…

      (They’ll of course be way too big, but you could use them for a template…)

      Thanks for the offer but hold onto those pieces until I catch up.

      A medical question for you Doctor.  After reading all these posts I find black & blue marks all over me?

      @knp7765:

      That OOB Soviet tank looks like it’s from one of the earlier A&A games where the Soviets were more of a burgandy color.  I got my games later, after they started using the current maroon color for the Soviet Union pieces but a while back I bought a lot of pieces on eBay and it had some of these burgandy Russians.

      I have to agree with IL on this.  The current color of Soviet pieces for A&A is maroon, basically a dark brown with a reddish tint to it.  I realize that color matching 100% is very hard but you should come closer than this.  Perhaps these pieces can be used for other games, but your biggest amount of wargamers will want them for A&A.  Thus, that is where you will make your biggest sales.

      I don’t have every A&A game out but what I see is an ever changing color selection.  Look back and you will see my German units do match some versions.
      Also what I see in the latest Europe version is that the Russian and Italian units are almost the same color.

      A lot of you may remember the old original A&A with the British tan and the light colored Japanese tanks and planes that were hard to identify on the board because they look so much alike.  The Japanese infantry were a little darker and that is what I matched my pieces with.  At least I got good feedback from that move.  :-)

      @Table:

      My color is a little off.

      Which version of the game is that OOB russian tank from?  If it’s from AA50/AAE40/AA42, then from what i can see, it’s just fine (Matching colors 100% is not as easy as people would like to imagine!)

      I should be able to match color perfectly.  The company sent me a sample.  But for me to sample would cost a couple hundred so I took a chance.  :oops:

      OMG. These are not the OOB colors. These are red, the OOB Soviets are a brownish red. If you use that color is will not match anything except Japanese pieces from original AAP.

      Maybe I need a new camera.  I will take another picture with the Russian T-34 I used to match the color.

      From the new A&A set I picked up it looks like the Russian and Italian units are almost the same color.
      I matched my pieces to the burgundy color from an earlier set.

      Hey, TT!

      Do you have a copy of that new game “Singapore: 1942”

      I checked and it looks like the price has been reduced to $85.  I just picked up a copy of the new Europe game with the Frence for $50.

      Jack,

      Any update ?

      I just ordered the ejector pins for the Russian’s.  Dame guys forgot to tell me they needed more.  Each set of pieces has it’s own set of ejector pins because they burn the wheels into each pin so you don’t get a flat spot on the tank when it is molded.  I should be shooting the Russian’s next week.

      No word on any dollar investments.  :|

      Oh, TT, which model of Semovente is that in your Italian set?  I’m working over the suggestions table I put in above, adding Italy and Japan to it and substituting the ones you’ve already made on it to minimize the # of new scupts while maximizing the number of usable new unit types for each nation…

      @Razor:

      I think this game miss a Heavy Artillery piece, that attacks on 4 or less, defend on 2 or less, and cost 7 IPC.

      I also think we need a Blockhouse unit that defend on 5 or less and cost 6 IPC. As in the real world, a blockhouse will assure the destruction of one attacking unit. If you defend a territory with 4 infantry you are never sure they will kill any enemy before they are killed themselves.

      Would the Heavy Artillery have to be larger or just make a bigger dia barrel?

      You know if all this comes about then the maps will need to be ping pong table size and I will need to make those sticks they used to move pieces around.

      I think Jack should produce a Self-Propelled Artillery piece for all nations as well.

      I see this as being one of the most popular pieces, and probably the next piece introduced in a future AA game.

      Russia: Katyushas
      Germany: Hummel
      US: Priest

      Etc.

      Woops I posted before I got this far.
      Now how about self-propelled AA guns like the Quad 50?  :-D

      Reloader:

      I would focus more on actual vehicles/tanks/planes/extra unit classes…

      I have designed units for molding the L7 Priest and the Katyusha multiple rocket launcher.
      Would you all have a problem with units produced in 2 pieces that would be glued or snapped together?

      @DrLarsen:

      I was doing some more thinking and I found a way to include up to 10 different types of land units without resorting to 12-siders.  I’m sure others have come up with similar systems (there are only so many possible permutations using 6-siders, after all.)  Nevertheless, I think it shows that a set with a wide range of alternatives pieces is quite feasible as an upgrade accessory (and this is just land units and only limiting ourselves to 6-siders…)

      I tried telling them that I’m a good guy and just cut me a check but that didn’t work.

      Mussolini used to brag that he could call upon “8 million bayonets”.  Would it help if you told your money guys that you have (by today’s count) the backing of 10,545 A&A.org board members?

      Not a bad idea.  I’ll mention it to them.  :-D

      Just picked up the A&A Europe 1940.  WotC didn’t spend to much on this product.  Love those French T-34 tanks.  If they would have had T-34’s the French would have stopped the Germans.  At least I have pieces to match the colors.

      My guys tell me they will have the Russian’s ready for production this month.

      My talks with the big money folks has passed the first review.  Next review on the 24th at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.  These people really know how to live.  If I get past that they will be doing a background check.  After that one final review.

      @13thguardsriflediv:

      @knp7765:

      You hit it right on the head C_Strabala.  Italy was very upset that they weren’t allowed to increase their African colonial possessions at Germany’s expense at the end of WW1.  That and economic woes led to Musolini’s popularity.  Also, the harsh terms of Versailles and the “stab in the back” notion were directly responsible for Hitler’s popularity.  With both of these two rising to power, and both being ruthless dictators, they felt the only way to fix their respective countries’ economic woes was military expansionism.

      Britain and France didn’t just offend Italy, but Japan as well. The Japanese (who had allied with the entente and had neutralized some of the German Pacific fleet and taken German colonial pacific possessions, asked to be recognized as ‘equals’ with the Europeans. This was denied. The Japanese deemed this so offensive, they decided to ‘go their own way’ setting them on course for Pearl Harbor and so on. It was Versailles Treaty and also the legacy of their one sided ‘Trafalgar-esque’ naval victory in the 1904-5 war (battle of Tsushima) against Russia that set Japan on course.

      All this being true it resulted in America getting the atomic bomb first.
