    • RE: Kill Japan first Axis counter

One day I’'m going to land in the USA with Germany,  take France take Britain take Gibraltar team up with Italy and head to America.  I’ve seen it on every A&A board and I’ve done it on every one.  Of coarse it doesnt always work and your opponents will get wise to it, but it doesnt hurt to come up with a plan to be able to do it on G4 or 5 if not there is  Southern Mexico Central America West Indies Nova Scotia Venezuela and Brazil opps and Central U.S.
Germany should pick up the slack or try to anyway
Next time I pull USA I’ll try a 100% Pacific,  see if my players can counter a Pacific dump.
If I pull Germany I’m going to work up a plan to hit the US
From the games I’ve glanced in on it seems that Jen plays a lot of games and I think that if she feels its flawed then there may be some truth to it.  I still need to play many more games from one country and try a specific strat. time and time again
I’m going to stick to my guns and say I like it the way it is.  (time to try to find the battle map I down loaded……still new to the computer)

The reason I said to play 7 games is that one person can be the Axis 3 times and the Allies 3 times  if by the time game 6 is just about over there may be some opinionated people out there telling you where you went wrong, either one of you. At that time choose a teammate, see if what they are saying can hold any water. Play all 7 games win loose or draw
Stop each game between rounds 7- 15 and see where it stands.  This way you can try their strat. on them,  they may have the solution when you turn their strat. on themselves.
This still may not be enough it would  need all the dice to be even…… yuck … I like the variably,  I think if the made a game where every nation was equal and any one of the 5 major powers could take over the world it would’nt be called AXIS & ALLIES
I think the Axis have to have the luckier rolls, less mistakes and be better teammates to win to me thats balanced I like it the way it is      (except when I’m rolling like crap with Japan then I think why did they take my planes and Trans.)
One day I’ll download the map and try some online games.

The Allies were victorious,  lucky rolls on key battles and the Allies worked together better than last week.
The teams were the same, the score 1-1 next time we’re going to switch sides.

    • RE: 2 turn system: How to re-balance the game with such a system

I think the Axis have to have good rolls , a combined strategy to single out an opponent and crush them,  move on to the next one or two.  Take out the Capitals as soon as possible and go for the money, and hope the Allies make more mistakes,  Time is against them if it goes on too long you are probably doomed.
I love it, I’ll take the odds any time that’s what makes this game great!  Win loose or draw from either side.

Game 14 this weekend I cant wait!   I’ll take as many notes as I can,  I’ll let ya know who takes over the world.
Will the Axis get lucky or will the Allies prevail?     ( I feel sorry for lucky, everybody is out to get-im)

I’m sorry if I offended anybody I didnt mean to, I enjoy all the games Ive played win or loose, ( the dice have decided too many.)
We set up multiple boards and the players all get their chance to play their ultimate Germany,Japan,Russia, etc. and the results are never the same they may achieve their goals but no 2 games are alike some players are tougher to take your objectives against. Then there are the people who do better with certain countries. Then there are win streaks Ive them at just 2 and then there are some that are 10 + or so.  They become the people to beat.
We havnt played enough Global to see if one side or the other has a definite advantage Its only been 13 games so far and its about 50/50
You could play a round and analyze your moves round by round  or go 10 or 15 rounds maybe more then see where you stand, I belive  that even if you did 4 or 5 games of the exact same strategy that your opponent would come up with a counter for that particular move.
Untill I have played each country alot of times and have seen one side takes all time and time again then I’ll say that it needs to be balanced.  As of now I think its the best they’ve put out,  I just have to remember all my forgets and hope that if I draw one country 8 or so times that I can learn to win from that spot and when I do draw a different one Im not left wondering what to do
Again sorry, I think that on any given nite with some good rolls and sound strategy you’de be the one to beat.  I think that applies to everyone on this forum.

I think a war is brewing on the horizon between Mantlefan and Com.Jen, maybe the best of 7 each one gets the axis 3 times and  each one gets the allies 3 times.  Then on game 7 a 3rd party chooses who’s who ,  and maybe they get to choose a partner in game 7.  Play all 7 regardless of the score. Tactic’s, strategy and dice may or may not favor one player or another.
It would be interesting…… may the best General prevail

An N.O. for holding your home lands…… sounds like the U.S.A.   The best thing about N.O.'s is when you can take them away from your opponent  Hawaii,Philippines,Aleutian, wake, midway, guam, soloman.     or you could give some to Japan like 10 for the main island 5 for Okinowa and 5 for Iwo Jima     PREPOSTEROUS…KEEP IT THE WAY IT IS (who would object to a new game)

    • RE: Alpha+2 Allies struggle to win, crazy alternative discovered: Surrender London!

Surrender isnt part of our vocabulary,  correct me if I’m wrong in alpha2 when London falls that brings the US into the war,      so why not fight    or just give it away  I game for the battles (Kursk) = big tank battles between Germany and Russia or (truk Lagoon) big naval battles between Japan and USA  or the Battle of Britain/Sealion.    and I like to win , to add or change the rules can be fun but this game was not designed to be redesigned by all of us, It’s a step up from the Anniversary edition.  If because the Axis won the last 4 games means the Allies cant win , then I think you may be missing some thing but I dont think so from what I can tell the people on the forum are skilled, experienced players.    There are a bunch of people who think the game is unbalanced with the Allies being the one with the upper hand. This subject might get ya to think that it is balanced the other way.  In 25+ yrs I’ve seen where one side will get a bunch of wins only to be offset by the other,  overall I would say that the score is about 50/50  we play on average 2 games a weekend.    How did Hitler say it……fight to the last man  I think Stalin said it to… Keep gaming and post the results.

    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

Sorry for not filling in what the UK did the other nite I think it was more mistakes than anything else and I think it affected his rolls.  On UK1 it was a dd a sub and a trans and an Int & Art. (purchase)  Italy’s BB CA &2 trans were sunk, the 2dd,CA,sub&1trans were left alone, they eventually took Gibraltar. The German minor in S. Fra. helped Italy gain control of the Med. they eventually came out and landed in Panama.  It was one of those things.  He also didnt listen when Japan took Hawaii then New Zealand  and I said he’s going for ANZAC and his answer was no he wont take,  he’s going to go after the USA, he was wrong. Anyway its just a game. The person who was Japan played his first time as Japan, I’ve pulled it 4 times and I think he was paying attention and his time was due he had’nt had a win in a long time.  The week before he was Germany and he went Barbarosa and we were successful (I was Japan) and that was his first time as Germany          I think it was lack of team work and some lack of common objectives  I also have noticed that rolls are linked to your frame of mind (good mood and positive frame of mind) and you’ll do better and visa versa.

Tally one for the Axis this week end.  Operation Barbarossa was a success. Germany took all of France on G1.  Japan hit China and Russia on J1.  G2 was a clean up and reorganize along with some convoy raiding. US1 was a dump in the Atlantic. J2 was Pearl Harbor with the occupation of Hawaii,  then off to ANZAC with the smaller of the 2 Jap fleets pushing on Kwangtung and the Islands.  I had 2 good goal line stands as Russia,  but it wasnt enough.  The players on the board are experienced and they are open to suggestions, but they dont like to be told what to do,  so what can you do,  point out the mistakes after the fact….yea. the Axis had some real hot rolls.    DONT CHANGE THE GAME…(make a new one)

Next time I draw Germany and I have 2 or 3 Carr.'s I might just try for the USA especially if they dump in the Pacific to counter Japan. I dont think it’s lack of experience on our table 4 of the 6 players have been playing this game and others like this (W.A.W. the grand Daddy, Carr. war , Panzer Blitz and others) since the mid 80’s  the other 2 have about 15 yrs exp  Hey if it doesnt work out its only a game and we reset, we average about 2 games a weekend,

    • RE: First Round Moves for the axis

Germany did have a successful sea lion and the Axis tallied a victory. As far as first round moves  the Axis have to be aggressive early the longer you wait the more the odds are that the Allies are going to win,  (they have more and more money and N.O.'s ).  For G1 I like  1CV,  1dd,  1sub.  G2  2trans  2subs 1fighter and the rest on Mechs Arm Art & Inf  and you need to take France down and out.  Out of the 13 games we’ve sat down to I think France has survived 3 or 4 times  this is because of bad rolls and or not sending enough in to get all the required hits in the first few rolls.  For Japan I like to get 2subs and 2 trans on J1,  I attack China all out  I also attack Russia on J1  the 12$ is more  than the 10$ for not going to war even though it is only a one time deal, but your taking $ out of U.S.S.R.'s pocket and putting it in yours.  Japan and Germany have to work together on squeezing Russia, move your navy from Japan to the Carolines  and set up to take as many N.O.'s as you can solomans = no N.O. for ANZAC Hawaii = no N.O. for USA Philippines =no N.O. for USA go for Hong Kong and F.I.C.  On J2 I’ll buy a sub a trans maybe a minor fact or Cruiser , it really depends on how well I roll and how well my enemy rolls. I also head down to ANZAC terr., scare them into buying Inf to hold their Island , then try to follow history and take as many Islands as possible. I would rather take it to them while the odds are closer to 1-1 than waiting until the odds are 4-1 Allies favor  Four times I’ve pulled Japan out of the hat and 2 times the Axis were victorious and they were not 20 round games, the longer round games ALWAYS seem to favor the Allies.  We dont play V.C.'s  one side or the other quits, we also dont beat a dead horse.

Southern France is better to be in the hands of Germany,  the minor fact. and the naval base means Germany can deploy Naval units in the Med.  I have seen where Germany has put a Carrier in the Med.  I think it was on G4 or G3  it was a good option after a successful sea lion and I wanted to control  the Med. and move into the Atlantic  to keep the U.S.A. out of the German occupied U.K. ,  if you try it and it does’t work , that does’t mean it wasnt a good strat. a lot depends on how the game progresses, and who has the hot rolls.  I think you know that already  so give it a try and good luck!!!

Did Japan ever have a chance in WWII?  In the group I’m in always takes a real aggressive approach to Japan. The longer you wait the more the Allies have to stock pile and plan.  I like the game the way it is,  at least there are no nukes!  When I read my WWII books I see that right after Pearl Harbor Japan goes all out for the Philippines, Malaya, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Also Guam, Midway and Wake were attacked, also Shanghai was occupied.  Then on Dec 16 they invaded Brit. Borneo and Johnson Island was shelled by a Jap sub then on Jan 4 they bombed Rabaul  Jan 7 they reached the border of Dutch West Borneo Jan 11 invaded Celebes . then Brit. North Borneo, then New Guinea was under attack. Jan 19 invaded  New Britain, New Ireland, Dutch Borneo, and the Solomon Islands. This all happened in a very short period of time, how can Japan do all this in one move,  I dont claim to have the answer for ya’ll  but the one free round (before the Germany) maybe some American N.O.'s like 10$ for holding their home Island,  5$ for Iwo Jima, 5$ for Okinawa. Then there is the Tokyo express (Dest. carry 1 Inf.)

Subs can be great when you can do 3 a round for a few rounds esspecialy when capital ship go down because they need to keep a destroyer to detect your subs, or your making your oppenent have to buy dd’s to counter wolf packs

Was it Yamamoto who said we have awakened a sleeping giant?  What about Germany running out of people to keep their armed forces adequately enlisted, hence the Hitler youth.  Maybe after so many rounds Germany should only be able to produce a certain amount of Infantry,  who might fight at a disadvantage?  EEK GADS HEAVENS TO MURGATROID ZEPHON. I’m glad he’s gone but it probably makes us a bigger target.  Here is an interesting fact April 28 1945 Benito Mussolini was shot and killed also on April 30 1945 Hitler committed suicide   these evil people all died within the same time of the year. (end of April beginning of May)  just 66 years apart.  In neutral Portugal the government ordered 2 days of national mourning and flags were flown at half-staff.       W.W.II Almanac 1931-1945    What are the days when Sadam was captured and executed ?
