    • RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?

      Frank T
When we play we randomly draw the round flags out of a cup, this way its pretty rare that one person is always a certain country. sometimes it happens I’ve pulled Japan 4 times in a row. (with ALPHA+2)
Four of our players have been playing since the mid 80’s the other one or two, depends on who shows up have 10-12 yrs the other has been hooked for 3 yrs. Hes here every weekend
The Axis wins are usually from better dice or a mistake on the Allies part. sometimes its the frame of mind your in    bummed out cause your one of the Axis or pumped because your one of the Axis
I have yet to try the OOB set up for Japan instead of the ALPHA+2 set up

In all our 20 or so games its been about 50/50 so I think its balanced. My vote was that Japan is a little weak .  Its the only Axis I’ve yet to see become a powerhouse and take the game
I like the last option to vote for, and ya wonder why people are constantly wondering what the rules :)

    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

The Allies won last nite. Some bad opening rolls for Germany didnt help, everybody had their fair share of them. It came down to Japan getting weaker and weaker after round 8 or so,  and buy 20 there was just no way.
A few key battles with better rolls on one side or the other would have changed the outcome
A very good game back and forth
        ALPHA+3 ???  I CANT WAIT !!!

    • RE: Sealion: win-win or a dead end?

From Gib. there are a bunch of places to hit  the U.S. (Axis controlled).  I also like Germ. to take S. France it can add stability to the Med, and with Gib. and London and a second Carrier at the S. FR minor IC , stage for the East coast
My vote is 50/50  some times sealion works and some times it doesnt
A good Barbarossa along with the elimination of the Royal Navy done early (G2) should get er done baring horrible dice

If I can get 2 games in this weekend I’ll convince the guys to change it up and try something a little different.
Three weeks ago I mentioned it to them and I got weird looks, the week before that when we went to set the second game two of them looked at the set ups on the lids and looked at me and back to the lids.
I need to have 2 boards set up one of each set up.
I also had a thought about, if people think Japan is to weak to be in it after 12 or so round, to give them the OOB set up with the ALPHA+2 rules
When they start to get board with the board try something diff.
                                                Cool tanks

    • RE: Sealion Stats- Cliff Notes

Scotland is so good to take because if they come back for it their just making their Capital slimmer and like I like to say why wait for them to build round after round.
Strafing targets with your planes in most cases its a good thing sometimes ya get burned, when they do it to you and you find the hot dice it can be very rewarding…… it happened last weekend and I annihilated a bunch of planes, I was Russia it was great!!! the dice were my friends

    • RE: I'm a Chinese player….....this is my Alpha +2 Experience

Thank you,  It’s good to hear from someone half way around the world.
How many players do you have when you set up the two boards?
I have four to seven players every week
I found your post to be very informing
There may be people here in the U.S. who could help with the translation,  have you tried to find someone there to help with translating?
        Keep them coming

    • RE: Questions about alpha

Buy Euro & pacific games. download the Alpha+2 rules and objectives and set ups,  play both OOB and the Alpha+2 using the global rules for the OOB and the Alpha+2 rules for the other set up. I think you’ll see the diff.
I think the Alpha+2 is a better game and I like it the way it is
                    ENJOY

    • RE: New Carriers - For Better or For Worse?

What GARG. said put both in the game and see which one gets purchased,  do it in multiple games so there is less of a fluke chance that may favor one or the other

    • RE: THE AXIS ARROWHEAD - Italian Aircraft meet German Armor.

There is only one country between Germany and Japan and that is Russia, plus Italy needs to make money too and there is a lot in Russia.
Weather it’s one on one or 2 against 3 the Axis need to be a team, in quite a few games when they didn’t team up it usually was their demise
Planes are a great buy look at their def and their range, they can hit targets and land safely behind the lines their not committed like a tank.

Yes all the time It easy to forget that you have them.  Write on a piece of paper “don’t forget the kamikaze” and throw it in the Japan box

Sealion can work so can Barbarossa even in the same game I’ve seen it more than once. It can also fail It all depends on the dice and strategy.
In one of the first games Russia bought into their Navy and Germany wasn’t paying attention. That was a reset and I didn’t count it into the score of win/loss each week.    It’s still about 50/50

    • RE: The French

I think the reason for France, is to create a variable for the amount of pieces Germany has left on the Euro. Continent. If you do well you have a lot of pieces, If you do poorly then you have less.
This way no two games will look the same at the end of Germ. turn …… well maybe real close,  I’m sure it could happen.
Heck France can keep that dd for a long time along with some Inf.    they still have a turn

P.S. If France doesn’t fall on the opening round, don’t reset keep going. I’ve seen France survive the first round in 3 games,  I think the Axis won one lost one and one undecided. plus they could get liberated.

    • RE: Thoughts on Industrial Complexes

For Russia …… Slash and burn, move the factory back one spot, then there is nothing for the Axis to Capture.
For China … destroyed!!! anything would have to be rebuild.
For Germany & Japan …damaged, pay for repairs this would also be the fate of the rest of the Axis and Allied Industrial Complexes
This is just my thoughts on the subject
