One of the regulars just finished painting a 4x8 sheet of plywood with the Anniversary Edition on it, we’re going to use our Axis & Allies Naval Mini’s and of coarse the land units, A&A rules not the Mini’s rules oh I almost forgot the Pool Bridge to move the pieces

RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I like the 1999 Euro board extra cash at the beginning. Everybody spent it differently, that makes it a great game. I think that, that game was the one we started doing the multiple boards everybody had their chance to do their ultimate Germ, or Russia or U.K. or U.S.
We have 2 ALPHA+2 boards in our group, so it’s just a matter of time
Our rolls made it unbalanced for the Allies last week. Two weeks ago it was also unlucky for the Allies but the sides were different, 5 at the table each time.
There is a difference between 1 on 1 and 3 against 2, more players more opportunity -

I dont know if this is off on another subject but I wanted to post the results from this weekend…… the Axis have another victory! Barbarossa on G3. They had better rolls at most of the key battles A couple of different rolls at a few of the key battles and It would have been diff. Especially in sea zone 6 for me, Oh well what can ya do. Next time It will be different

I’ve downloaded the stuff from the first page and when I go to the maps I cant seem to find the one for ALPHA+2 or 1940 Global.
I’m new to the computer and this is frustrating because I want to game with ya’ll
My wife is fairly well versed with the computer and she’s having a problem with opening the map with the installer -

RE: US Strategy Poll: KJF vs. KGFposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I usually go about 50/50 the first round, with my more powerful units being deployed in the pacific. Then see what happens in the East and West in round 2 In round 2 I’ll be able to see what is going to be needed where and If some one is rolling hot or like crap, purchase and place accordingly
I like to get a C.V. 2 dd’s a C.A. and either a sub and save or a duck (transport) and save. Round 2 I’ll get more Navy and Air Force, It really depends on what happens in round 1 Japan may be in Hawaii threatin the W. Coast, like I said It all depends on what the board looks like
Go for all of them and take out as many units as you can. Buy boats planes tanks and Infantry -

RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Send them all against the U.S.A. Whats going to happen , you’ll either win or loose , no matter what you’ll see where you would do it differently or not at all. If it’s for research set up multiple boards and swap sides and brainstorm and try it again……Dam I think I’m addicted yea!!!

RE: Rebalancing Alpha 2posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Just an idea, It’s good to have them all on he table. Maybe the Pacific from 2000 or so opening round of defense for the Allies at a one, except China

RE: Rebalancing Alpha 2posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
They all look like good ideas, have any of you tried some of these ideas in 5 to 10 games and see if they are to little or to much.
How about dug in defenders they defend on a 3 wow never mind that would be to much
My idea is to use the OOB set up instead of the Global rules one, just for Japan. That would give them the TT at the Caroline islands and a few more planes. It’s been a while since I’ve compared them.
I have never tried it, but I think it will happen in the next few weeks, everybody seems to say Yea Japan thats the way it is, if you cant win early (the Axis) then they dont (Japan) stand a chance, and how do you incorporate the loss at mid way loosing their veteran pilots, nukes and some others I would imagine
only time will tell and who here on the forum wouldnt buy another W.W.II game -
RE: Long live Kill America First!!!posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Gibraltar is key for the Axis to hold, there are a bunch of places on the east coast that can be a target.
I like to take out Pearl Harbor on J2, I also attack the Russians on J1 along with China. You also need a Minor I.C. or two and a naval base at Hainan. I also try to take as many N.O.'s from the U.S.A. the Phil., the Aleut.Islands from Hawaii I aim for the west coast
If you take England and get their money on G3 that can set you up for a push on the U.S.A. and Russia
Good luck, have fun keep us posted -
RE: Help, should I buy it or notposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Once you own it, it’s yours for life. I still have my original board from 85-86 plus one more thats more readable.
What if the price does what the Aniv. Edit. did !!!
We also set up multiple boards so people can do their ultimate (what ever country they think they can conquer the world with) Germany for example -
RE: Aircraft retreat clarification….PLEASE HELP!!posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
On page 19 of the Pacific 1940 or page 21 of the Europe 1940 explains where units (air) can move to
I think they would be destroyed. If I’m not correct I hope one of the moderators corrects me
You were saying in classic, I’m looking at the latest version, I hope this helps -
RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Do you go for the V.C.'s for a victory, or until one side concedes
We don’t go for the V.C.'s we battle it out, and I like to put as much pressure on Russia as early as possible with all the Axis powers
I think it’s amazing that you have not had an Axis victory
I meant that instead of using the ALPHA+2 Japan set up use the OOB for Japan and ALPHA+2 for all the remaining countries. I think that it would give them the kick to eliminate one or two of their five enemies early in the game -
RE: 2nd edition board with Global 1940 piecesposted in House Rules
When we get bored with the same old game we’ll change it up and we have set up the old board with with the cards from any one of the newer ones. The old one has less spaces, deployment can be different. Just look at the Phil. Japan owns it in one, and the U.S. in another.
We give the money to the country who deploys there
TRY IT you might get hooked……enjoy!!! -
