    • RE: What's the longest time France has survived? Please read the post below

We’ve been playing every weekend for years …… well 48 out of 52 weeks anyway. The global +2ALPHA since Feb.  a couple of times twice in a weekend it works out to about 24 games and I think France has made it threw round one about four times and one of those times the Axis were able to still get a win in the other three the Allies were victorious.  France has never survived round 2 and I’ve never seen France get liberated it’s always the big capitals that we go after like Berlin or Moscow or London in all our games we about 50/50 Axis win or Allied win

In all the games we’ve played , France has survived the opener 4 times I think the Axis were able to pull of at least  one victory of the 4 times.  I say don’t reset because France makes it threw one round

Page 18 of the Euro rule book and page 16 of the Pacific rule book
My interp. of this is 1 sub, 1 carr with 2 planes. the sub gets a hit what happens …… the carr is tipped and the planes are in the air  if the sub does not fire a second shot then the planes need to land within their movement allowance. If you had 2 subs and they both hit then the carr would go down  I would say the planes would get away because subs cant hit air units
Those two pages answer the Q’s for me

    • RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?

The Axis won last nite!!!  it was a good game, close it could have gone either way.  I think it came down to to many high risk battles without the good dice and the Axis were able to collect big incomes to many times. I think that its only a matter of time before our Allied strategy catches up to where we are with our Axis strategy is and then the results will be different for a while and then its the whole thing all over again

Correct they cannot reach and must be used in a different battle like Yugo. or not used in battle and noncom’ed there, not a good option.  It’s better to use the ones from either Holland,W.Germ.
Study the Board and see what planes can reach where.  Italy does need the extra scramble ability to make the U.K. pay for trying to sink it’s fleet.
Only air bases allow scrambling of 3 planes and the air base is in S.Italy

After a week of vacation I can’t wait to set up a Global war game I’m going threw withdrawl symptoms
If I had to bet I would say the Allies are going to pull it off because the Axis won the last few like 4 so the odds are against them……We’ll see    actually I don’t care who I pull as long as I get the hot dice

    • RE: German opening.

Always do your best to eliminate the Royal Navy early in the game and keep it that way as long as possible. Once they get a Navy they’ll be landing on the Continent and it will be all over for Germany
The Aircraft carrier ,Transport and Sub or Destroyer is a good bet to make the U.K. think Sea Lion and it can help sink any Navy’s that pop up
There is only one country between Germany and Japan, Get the money and the Victory cities and take controll of the continent  then head to Africa or if your lucky enough to get the U.K. early then go for it.
What the hell if you can stage well enough at Gib. then slam the U.S.A.
Keep adding to the German Air Force even if you don’t loose any plane’s, keep the Sub force powerful for many reasons
Hit Russia before they get strong

    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

Two Axis victories. The first was Barbarossa on G2. Germ. couln’t take France on 1 which gave Italy the extra money they need. Germ. dice were better against Russia. Japan kept the U.S.A. out till the fourth round and crushed China and Russia on 1 and 2. Then set themselves up for a massive stike against U.K. and the U.S.A.  It was to little too late, Russia didn’t have the pieces to stop Germ. and the economics of loosing money territories they couln’t compete, and then it was a matter of time.
The second was Sea Lion on 3 and Barbarossa on 4. The Italian fleet was sparied when the U.K. took every thing to S.Fra. to take it away from Germ. they did and Italy retook it and sunk the combined fleet, Italy was able to take Egypt with force and when London fell that made real easy to take over Afr. The U.S.A. didn’t build well enough to liberate London. He came after the Germ. Navy but didn’t have the resorces to eliminate them and that left a bunch of ducks only being protected by a dd and the Germ. navy sunk them. The U.S.A. landed their Inf. ,Art. and tanks in Afr. and Italy was stong enough to stop them. Japan kept the U.S.A. out as long as possible and concentrated on China and Russia on 1 and 2 and set themselves up to hit the Islands for the big money and slam the U.K. and the U.S.A. When Germ turned It’s force against Russia along with the Italian’s backing them up It turned out to be too much and after a few rounds It was over.
I was the U.S.A. in the first one and Germ in the second one

    • RE: What bid do you feel the Axis should have to balance Global 1940?

Fifteen to split between the three of the Axis would be cool, I think this could help them by giving them the opportunity to make as many gains as possible early in the game. If the Axis can’t get it done early then I think the Allies will eventually win.
I think if you dump all 15 into any one of the Axis it may be too much
I like it the way it is, and this weekend we’ll see who gets the victory. Last weekend was the super sized Anniv. with the A&A Mini’s
The 2 weeks prior have been Axis victories, there are some variables like who draws what and do you have for a teammate and how the dice fall and if you try something a little different
          I’ll keep ya’ll posted

I like Germany for the challenge, and if you do get the win then you break the historical accuracy of WWll or Japan for matter
We pull the round flags out of a cup so everyone has a chance to learn each country on a random basis, there are people in our group who like certain countries better than others

    • RE: How much should be forgiven?

Some of our players will ask the question “is there any way for you to hit this spot with your Boats,Planes,Tanks, etc.” or we’ll ask are you sure you want to do that? Then there are times when you gather up your teammate’s and have a conference in the other room.
One reason why I like at least 2 on 2 is that you have someone who might notice something that you may have overlooked.
One of the best way’s to learn is by loosing  like our first or second Global ALPHA+2 games and Russia bought a small Navy that had a Transport in it and Germany wasn’t paying attention and we had a reset pretty quick that night, and ya know what nobody on our board has ever made that mistake since that night
I’ve noticed on our boards that if you have a win steak going (at least 4 games in a row) sometimes your teammate will point out where to attack you or try to convince them that your a better target than they are.
Good luck and find the hot dice

    • RE: Global 1940 Tournament

Sounds like fun, I would like to see it all on table top and not monitor screen. So much for dreaming
I think the loser bracket should play on, It’s just a gut feeling.  When we’ve done multiple boards of Euro, Pac, Original, and the two revised the winners faced off against each other and the losers faced off and when it comes to the third round of games some one with an unblemished record and feeling indestructible might get beat by the person who hasn’t tallied up a victory.
One on one is so much different 3 on 2 or 3 vs 3 , what would happen if you had to win from one side and from the other against the same opponent to move on. A 3 game match at that point, high dice chooses or who had the most money at the end of each of their wars, combined total
Hey we should all go on vacation at the same time and place and bring all your games

The 2 strat’s  the Russians seem to do is
1 slowly step back and give up the territory, don’t loose any Inf. step back another, and then again, then make a stand at Yakut.Hopefully you can get some offensive units there by Round 3
2 Attack Japan Round 2  and send 1 Fighter and 1 Tact  and 2 Mech’s to help out on the next round of attacks.
Once in a while Russia will spread out leaving one Inf. per territory and pull the rest toward Moscow

Trade sides, you know how to win as the Allies if he’s getting win after win as the Allies. Give him some of his own medicine.
Try to incorporate new players, more people more opportunities both success and failure and look into the on line games to see what the pro’s do
        Buy weighted dice    :)

    • RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?

In your balanced game, hows the record stand? 50/50 either one has a chance or is it like when ever one person plays this country they always win. Do you keep track of how you do as one side and the other against any and or all of the hard core addicts.
We do in a way sometimes It will be a rematch from weeks previous. Our record so far is about 50/50 and we’ve done somewhere around 21 or 22 games. If I had to guess for our next game I would say the Allies because the Axis won the last two. we have 5 at the board every weekend. The last two I was the Axis in the first and the Allied in the second (Germ. & U.S.A.)

    • RE: Long live Kill America First!!!

We always pull the round flags out of a cup, It’s not to often that one person plays one country time  after time. It does happen once in a while that you might pull the same one game after game but usually your opponents are different. With the ALPHA+2, I pulled Japan 4 times in a row. and one of the regulars has played U.K. alot
9 out of 10 games we have 5 at the table
