Iowa’s faster and outranges the, hypothetically (not including fire control) Iowa can take out a ton before it runs out of ammunition.

If they’re fighting close Iowa losing to 8 pre dreadnoughts with 14 inchers sounds right. 👍

How many aircraft could Shinano have carried if it was converted to an actual carrier?

For those who don’t know, Shinano was originally planned as a Japanese Yamato class battleship. However, midway through construction Japan decided to convert it into a carrier.

Not an aircraft carrier though, a “support carrier” which would only carry 47 aircraft for self defense but held almost a hundred more aircraft as spares and many supplies to support the actual fleet carriers on extended operations. It was sunk by a US submarine in 1944.

Another such support carrier actually did exist, the HMS Unicorn.

What if the Shinano was converted into an actual fleet carrier though? It takes space to house not just replacement aircraft, but additional pilots, mechanics, etc.

So Shinano probably wouldn’t have been able to carry the 120 aircraft it theoretically could’ve. But it still probably would’ve carried a lot of aircraft owing to its size.

The question is, how much? I look forward to your responses!

      Just checked.

Yes, kamikazes are used with low luck with that option on.

I came up with this before I used TripleA. TripleA is still vastly superior, but I wanted to share this anyway. It’s still somewhat useful for playing house rules that you cannot otherwise edit easily on TripleA.

As I said, you send the emails to yourself to keep track of it.

As for why do I not do Google Docs instead, I just didn’t do it and didn’t think of it.

I only used the Notes app on the Ipad, which doesn’t really work, and emails.

So perhaps Microsoft Word might be better.

It is very complicated. I do not recommend playing Global 1940 using this. Anything less complicated is manageable, but best to stick with the more simple side.

      Thanks for moving it.

      Finished the first game:

      2023-8-13-World-War-II-Global-1940-2nd-Edition.tsvg

The game was certainly unique and spiced up from the original rules. It’s quite biased towards the Axis, with the “cannot move into pro-Allied territories while the Soviets and/or the Americans are neutral” is crippling.

I definitely could’ve been more creative as Japan, but overall it was still a fun and unique game.

Tell me which side you want to be, ask me for any clarifications in the rules (I think I covered all of it), and most importantly, let me know which side the game is imbalanced towards. I’m really hoping I can improve this set of house rules.

In retrospect, I realized that the Mongolian rule actually worked as intended. In addition to deactivating whenever a Japanese territory bordering China is attacked, it also applies whenever the Soviets attack Korea, as happened here.

The fact that Japan starts out at war with ANZAC and the Dutch but not the UK remains an issue.
