      Germany spent a lot of money on synthetic oil-it wouldn’t have cost as much to expoilt naturally occurring oil fields, and those resources could have gone to producing more equipment (which the new massive oil fields, in conjunction with Romania’s could fuel). Germany might even have been able to the give the Italian navy more oil, which would help operations in the Mediterranean. Japan would be able to not attack the Western Allies, which would allow them to destroy China more easily, with all of Japan’s resources aimed at it, with a fully fuelled army and navy. Perhaps Japan, without a massive naval war, could even invest more in tanks and mechanized infantry which would be fully fueled, and would make a possible invasion of the Soviet Union much easier. Supply problems in China and the Soviet Union would have been not as bad. Perhaps several hundred more tanks and mechanized infantry at the Battle Of Moscow, completely fuelled, might have been decisive-and if that wasn’t enough, there would have been more casualties, which would set the stage for a renewed German offensive against Moscow without the need to take Soviet oil. Bombing the oil fieleds might have been sufficent enough to allow Germany to take Moscow in 1942. This would have been coupled with Japanese pressure on the Soviet Union. It would still be close, but the Axis may have won on the Eastern Front. After that, Germany can dedicate all their resources for submarine warfare and fighters to protect the oil fields, and the fighter force would still have performed well, as there would not be a loss of oil, which resulted in training cuts. All of this, with Vichy France and Spain joining the Axis, would have created a crisis in the Mediterranean, especially now that Germany could possibly send an entire panzer army to North Africa, and will have enormous amounts to men on the Atlantic Wall. If China falls, then altogether, the Axis would have won.

      I read that, and is one of my sources. Funny enough, KaLeu put a link to Quora asking the same question, and one of the answers just copied and pasted the article you sent me.

      I’ve played with the house rule of- everyone(except China) gets one free roll at the beginning of every complete round. If you want more, you use the OOB rules for R&D as usual.

      @superbattleshipyamato123 Try reading the FAQ for more about how to properly play '41. There’s more to it than infantry in China and more money for the US.

      @andrewaagamer

      In my first game, there was some battles around Caen, I abandoned Utah Beach (too far from reinforcements), and then Germany threw as many starting forces at that beach as possible, whilst I concentrated my reinforcements on the British and Omaha, who got their reinforcements faster than the Americans-it was a battle of attrition that the British could not win, especially with British tanks defending at two, and once most British forces have been destroyed, the Americans have finally broken out of Utah Beach, and easily took Cherbourg-no matter, the Americans and British couldn’t take Caen or St.Lo.

      As for aircraft, I tried to avoid as many artillery pieces as possible (in hindsight, I was overly cautious regarding this), and I concnetrated as many fighters into a single zone as possible.

      Another thing I want you to think about is my policy (I control both sides) for both sides, where I delay reinforcements until the single unit (usually a division, but sometimes Werfer brigades), units made up of one piece (such as the British armoured brigades) are moved immediately after deployment. I just like doing this, because I think that reinforcements not be poured in piecemeal and destroyed piecemeal, as I feel like this is what happened in real life (even if it didn’t, I still would like for divisions to operate together, even if individual units aren’t more powerful when operating within their own division. Is that a good idea? I look forward to hearing your response!

      @all-encompassing-goose

      Let me try sending it again:

      @all-encompassing-goose

      Axis And Allies 1932 seems too unbalanced for me. This was before the Nazis rose to power, and if the game is set in 1938 or 1939, the Nazis will just be killed by the Western Allies-if a game needs to be balanced, the earliest date that can be done is the date that the 1940 game starts with, when the French Army, the biggest threat to Germany, is more or less destroyed. I guess an early 1940 game, after German troops redeployed from Poland, could work.

      The political aspect of the war has always been interesting to me. Whilst players simply making deals can work, I feel like it can be better, but I don’t know how. Having shifting alliances, however it’s done, can be a lot of fun though, as it adds a lot of unpredictably to the game, and can make the situation like Diplomacy (which I never played, I’m just basing it off of what I read).

      Late war research and development sounds like a good idea, especially as military technology would have advanced faster than real life, as all countries would be at war, trying to advance technology as fast as possible. Nuclear weapons seem interesting, as I explore in this topic:

      https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/37409/nuclear-bomb-addition-for-axis-and-allies-global-1940/4

      Switching sides, especially if they already are at the start of the game and can continue to change, can make the war last a really long time, and can make it crazy and fun-I wonder how will victory conditions work though?

      @the-captain

      Due to the fact that whilst most of your rules are historically accurate, their execution I have some problems with. To fix that, I wrote an article on changes to The Captain’s rules:
