      France already does that. ANZAC is redundant in that case.

      I’m sorry. I think I forgot to explain one of my points. You’re right that you can easily tell the odds of winning after one round of combat.

      The challenge for the British isn’t just determining whether they would win, but how many units they’ll have left over. If the Axis get at least 3 hits in the first round of combat (which they have an 74% chance of getting in the first round), and the British don’t kill the carrier, they will probably have to kill one or two aircraft.

      This means the British will have to decide whether to have their remaining aircraft land in Malta, leaving the carrier to be destroyed, or stay in sea zone 97, where they may be able to protect the carrier better but also have a high chance of being destroyed with the carrier by the Lufwaffe.

      Now that I’m writing this, the issue sounds pretty dumb and trivial, but in the past it really did leave me unsure of what to do.

      What Marco Luti proposed isn’t really a strategy.

      All he’s saying is that ANZAC could get to 30 IPCs using A, B, C, and D. He doesn’t say that’s what the Allies should do.

      And it’s unclear what kinds of facilities he proposes ANZAC should build in Brazil, if any.

      Yes, but that situation is extremely unlikely in out-of-box Global 1940 games.

      The Japanese should have no problem grabbing Malaya and the Dutch East Indies.

      The situation is different if you’re playing with a bid, but even so there are probably better uses of that money. No matter what ANZAC does, they’ll always be subordinated to or have to cooperate with the other Allies in some way, and it doesn’t really matter whether they’re cooperating in Europe or in the Pacific. The 12 IPCs need for a minor industrial complex would be better used building 2 submarines.

      The only situation where a minor industrial complex in Brazil would work is if the Allies are preparing to attack the strict neutrals and the Americans were too busy to deal with South America.

      ANZAC has nowhere near the IPCs to build any facilities, especially early in the game.

      ANZAC grabbing Brazil is mainly useful if the other Allies have no troops to spare. Otherwise the British or the Americans should absolutely take over instead.

      Not really. They have to choose casulaties after only one round of combat, and in my experience the victors are still often not clear by that time.

      @TheDesertFox

      It depends on the circumstances.

      Obviously the Axis should scramble if doing so causes British odds of winning to go significantly down.

      Still, even if the British are likely to win I would still scramble. This is because the British only have a high chance of winning if they take their carrier as a hit-soaker first. However, if the British do that, some of the fighters from London or elsewhere may not have a place to land, and if they survived the battle they would be destroyed.

      On the other hand, if the British start taking combat units first, there’s still a 30-40% chance of the Axis winning that fight.

      Overall, scrambling forces the British to make some hard choices at a time when the Italians won’t be able to do much naval damage if the British succeed.

      Unsurprisingly, the Allies won. The Soviets did really well.

      Here’s my dice tracker:

      Larry Harris 1942 dice tracker.pdf

      It was originally a Word document but was converted so I could share it on the forum.

      This dice tracking system was first thought of by @The_Good_Captain .

      Basically, what you do depends on the battle.

      If the attacker has a strong chance of winning (80% and higher), you simply battle calculate the results and find the average number of attacking units left when the attacker won. If the attacker won with more units left than the average, the difference is registered as positive dice swing for the attacker (and a negative for the defender). If the attack won with fewer units left than the average, then the difference is registered as a negative dice swing. I would assume vice versa applies to battles where a defender has a strong chance of winning.

      When you lose a battle or an upset occurs, the difference from both the average attacker units left and the average defender units left are used.

      The Good Captain explained all of this in more detail in these videos:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXFx2k9odgA

      Keep in mind these are just prototype/test videos. A much cleaner version will come out soon.

      Let me know if you’d like more information!

      @FranceNeedsMorePower

      I’ll have AI finish the game then.

      The final dice result, then, is:

      Net Allies dice swing: +5.79 swing
      Net Axis dice swing: -5.79 swing

      This doesn’t include Germany’s final turn.

      Also note that not included are 2 convoy rolls against Germany which did better than average dice, or a strategic bombin raid that kind of ended in a wash.

      Good game. You still made things quite challenging for me. I do believe that if it wasn’t for good dice on my end, the game would’ve still been 50-50.

      Here’s my favorite video in defense of battle calculators:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4o46DrA7Cw

      To be honest, I mainly use battle calculators when plyaing online, since it’s much more convenient.

      @SuperbattleshipYamato

      Third add on (sorry):

      I’ve used battle calculators for almost every battle in all the games we’ve played.

      Note that I created my Hawaii defense for round 3 based on the fact that if you weren’t using carriers as hit soakers, the Japanese would’ve had a low chance of winning according to the battle calculator. There was no way I could’ve planned so precisely without it.

      I’m writing this just to show how imbalanced my lack of communications caused the game to be.

      Add on:

      I’ve used battle calculators for almost every battle in this game.

      If we were to play another game (big “if”), it would probably be Larry Harris 1942.

      We weren’t?

      I’ve always used them.

      I was always under the impression that if we were using TripleA battle calculators were used by default.

      You can redo your turn. If you still want to surrender, you can do that.

      I’ll be getting busy soon so I’m not sure whether we’ll be able to play another game.
