yeah, the IPC difference would be huge… UK getting 60, US getting 72, Russia getting 48, but germany only gets like 64 to deal with russia’s 48 + Uk’s 60, along with more than half of US’s 72. Germany and Japan would be swiftly crushed

ahh i see. i know some people with extraordinary bad luck coughcough (me) when i play with my dad. in one battle in bellorussia, (i was germnay) i had 20 tanks and 10 infantry and about 5 artillery defending, and he made a last-ditch attack with like 3 fighters 1 bomber 15 infantry a few artilery and a few tanks and he CRUSHED me, having like his tanks his artilley and a few infantry left. later in the game (like turn 12, i had held off england and america very well with my counterattacks with lots of infantry and then retreating my fighters, so we kept taking eastern france and holand back and forth, and meanwhile in the east i had built up a force of about 10 infantry and 10 tanks and he made another counterattack (this time in caucasus; if he lost here i would take turkestan and then moscow the next turn; he had almost no $$ left b/c he stupidly moved the AA out of leningrad, so i wouldn’t move into it - i would just do SBRS’ every turn on it, and the only territories he had left were archangel, russia, moscow, and turkestan, so he was only building like 2 infantry a turn) with measly forces and had extraordinary luck and killed everything.

well i almost always play russia restricted, so russia can’t take manchuria on turn 1. and even if we do let russia attack on turn 1, than we have high bids and usually an extra infantry or two or three gets placed in manchuria, so it would be virtually impossible for russia to take manchuria on turn 1

that sounds like a good rule, being able to carry “light tanks” on the bombers instead of infantry, and the light tanks get to attack at 1 or 2

but who do you think were the WORST generals? (this might be harder, since nobody talks about the bad generals)

how come your infanry crush mr. ghoul? does he not build infantry and just build tanks so he stinks on defense or something?

usually germnay has to use 2-3 fighters and maybe the bomber in the north sea battle though. you can’t just let the british navy just sit there, or you will be killed by t3 or t4.

for the more experieced ones here, what do you usually do with the russians t1 w/ Russia restricted? my strategy that i’ve been using lately is to leave 1 man in caucasus and put everything else into karelia. and in the east recently i’ve been stacking my units in Yakut and just leaving 1 man in soviet far east, but is this wise?

i have this totally awesome paintball place kinda near my house its SO SWEET. this one course theres a river, and one team has to get the flag on the other side of the river, and the other team has to defend. the course is huge, so most of my team ( 20 people) went down the river to try to flank them, and 5 people along with me stayed in these 3 towers on our side of the river to protect the flag. i looked up, and their whole team came out of this house and starting running for the river. i’m in this 20 foot tall tower, and me and 5 other people are mowing down these 30 people trying to cross the river it was SO AWESOME!!! it reminded me of the beggining of “Saving Private Ryan” where they run out of the water and the germans in the tall pillbox are just mowing down the guys in the boat/water/beach. that was the greatest paintball game i ever played. if any of you don’t play paintball, then play it as soon as you possibly can!!!

i think i would prefer setting up the board manually and just moving the pieces around according to what the players do. this way i could look at it anytime, and i tried using the map thing that you can download once, and i couldn’t even figure out how to put pieces on the board, let alone move them around!

if thats true, that gives japan even more of an edge…

yeah, its a great game. for russia to survive you have to ally with turkey or austria, or with italy (b/c they can counter turkey and then you’re one on one with austria who’s not as strong as you) germnay is a very fun country to play, but sometimes EVERYBODY makes a bum rush towards the middle and then you’re toast. this happened to me in the last game, russia and france had an alliance, and england and turkey were both also allied against me (it was me & austria holding off against all the countries)
i was out by 1903 or 1904

it still sounds confusing to me, why not just play risk on the risk board if you’re gonna play risk?
